Relying on the purveyors at the nearby Union Square Farmers Market where he personally shops 4-days per week, Chef Zabita has created an evolving, seasonal menu that is sustainable and locally sourced. The beautiful new dining room features accents of walnut, leather and teal for a modern yet sophisticated surrounding.
Guests bask in natural light over breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch from the stunning skylight above. As the sun sets, the fireplace adds a soft, warm inviting glow while the downtown crowd comes alive in true New York City fashion.

Food wasn't good!
Food and service were very good.
Super friendly staff, all the food was amazing. Perfect date spot
We were visiting NYC so was a great choice to eat our Thanksgiving meal there.
Great place for a nice dinner to have a conversation. Food is not spectacular, but solid. Ambiance is awesome. Great Bar.
We picked Society Cafe based on reviews and pics and were SO impressed. The ambiance is fantastic... warm, soft lighting and design. Felt like a vintage salon. Read reviews citing noise issues but we were on the early side and had no problem. Started with a round of excellent cocktails, then shared plates and dessert, all wonderful. We’ll make this a stop on our next visit for sure.
Nice space and staff, but they seem overmatched by the overly loud pop music, the slow kitchen, a poor set of wine choices, and incomplete descriptions of menu items.
It feels like a restaurant that is trying to please the staff before the customers.
Must say I was pleasantly surprised. Outstanding service, yummy food, and lovely dining room...it was a great brunch and a great setting for me and 5 other friends. I'd definitely come back!
Food some of the worse I have had in my 18 years living in nyc.
Came here for our anniversary, hoping for a quiet spot. We were given a nice banquette but could hardly enjoy our food because of the noise. The acoustics are terrible - between the yelling patrons and the loud thumping music we had to scream to each other to be heard. The food was good, though portions were rather small and pricey. The service was extremely slow.
The service was excellent! The Mushroom, Gruyere Omelette was very tasty!
Dined here as a group of 6. The ambiance is great, very elegant and classy. Some people in the group had cocktails which they said were good. Food was delicious, on a par with other restaurants of this type. The scallops in particular were cooked perfectly (though we always wish there were more!) A great evening with friends, and we would return.
Went with family. Cute location. Hotel has a lot of character. Would definitely recommend.
Went for brunch and our server never checked in with us once our food arrived. Brunch means cocktails...several. Or at least a bottle of something. My friends and I love to linger and indulge at brunch, as I think a lot of people do, so keep the drinks coming (and your bill & tip growing!). But we had sad, empty glasses for most of our meal. Food was DELICIOUS (croque madame pizza for me!), and the restaurant space is wonderful. But not only did our server not return to our table, he just never even looked our way. He was on the other side of the room and we kept trying to get his attention, but never even glanced over. FINALLY, after our plates were busses away, he came over to ask if we wanted the bill. We would have stayed and racked up that bill, but instead we got the check and then found a wine bar not far away to continue our imbibing. We loved everything else, so will have to try again and hope for better service before completely writing this lovely place off.
P.S. The restaurant wasn't even half full, so it wasn't because he was so busy.
very charming out of the way place with great food.. breakfast lunch and dinner. note lunch has a limited menu
We came for the atmosphere and were completely taken by the food. Fluffy omelet, scrumptious olive oil pancakes, and perfectly roasted carrot salad (really, the unexpected star of the brunch). Coffee was also excellent and our waiter attentively kept our cups full. Service started off slow but once the waiter arrived, it was nothing but first-rate.
Low ceiling made for bad acoustics. We were placed adjacent to a party of 10 even though we booked weeks ahead. Asked for a table change but no could do. Decibel level was excruciatingly overwhelming. Waiter was hardly there to pour the bottle of decanted burgundy. Simply ate and ran. Ringing ears was no fun.
the food was below average. my scallops were only caramelized on one side! the other side was a sad white.
Amazing menu! Superb presentation and taste! Excellent customer service.
The food was outstanding. The ambiance was perfect and service was at its best (though a little overbearing at times). Loved it and it is now one of my favorites in Manhattan.
Great Service and Food . The staff was very attentive !
I just had a meal with my team leader at my office. It was great! amazing starter. pizza. burger.. and super impressive interior! definitely coming back
Beautiful space, attentive and professional service, and good food. Nice weekday night dinner b
Though the venue was comfortable and well-appointed, the food was only mediocre (iced tea was very bitter in particular) and it was very difficult to get the server’s attention.
Society Cage is my absolute favorite neighborhood restaurant and we love our server Cecilia.
Beautiful room with a natural light from the overhead skylight and comfortable, elegant decor. Service was perfect: friendly, attentive, considerate. My friends and I liked the food at brunch. The olive oil pancakes were a bit disappointing but we loved the truffle mushroom pizza! Will definitely return and i highly recommend.
Breakfast pizza was amazing. Loved sitting under the skylight - hidden gem
Fantastic! Loved the setting and the glass windpw above our table let in the perfect amount of light. I had the Olive Oil Pancakes which comes topped with mixed berries and a vanilla cream. Delicious!
Good for business meeting. Desert was the most memorable! Lemon tart heaven!
This place was definitely worth a visit. The decor and ambiance were very modern, classy, and tasteful. The menu had a good selection of food, for both a brunch and a nice dinner, and the wine list was fair. The cocktail choices were somewhat limited but fairly experimental. I had come here with a friend during Restaurant Week and the service we received was still very good. As for the meal, I ordered squid ink cavatelli as a first course, skirt steak for the main, and chocolate peanut butter cake for the dessert. The cavatelli with chorizo was very good, although slightly too spicy for me, and the skirt steak was fantastic as well, although very salty. The chocolate peanut butter cake was a bit too sweet, but the ice cream it was paired with was delicious. I also ordered the 'little flower' cocktail, which was cute and presentable but had far too much vodka to really be considered a 'flowery' prosecco drink. The complimentary bread presented at the beginning was also very good, and quite eggy, as was the herby butter we were given. The servers also noticed how much we liked the bread so they brought out a second one for us, which was nice. Overall, the experience was pleasant. I would consider coming here for brunch and trying their pizzas. The only real qualm I would have, is that the bathroom is so far away. You would have to go down some stairs, past the kitchen, and down a hall to the restrooms which are also accessible by the fitness center in the hotel so you might have a bit of a wait at times.
Unfortunately our experience was a big disappointment. My friend ordered a salad with added chicken. The kitchen forgot to add chicken. I ordered a small plate-- carrots and ricotta. Carrots were very undercooked and hard, and the ricotta was invisible. It is a beautiful looking place however.
We were in the neighborhood and decided to give this place a try. Couldn't have been more pleased. The trout was cooked to perfection, the space was comfortable and attractive - perfect on a really rainy afternoon - and the service was great. We'll be back.
Lovely find - Excellent bartender. Made great martini! Decor a little disjointed like its not totally sure what its image should be. But we enjoyed ourselves and staff overall was very good.
Great meal and service
Food really interesting. Had 4 small plates for 2 people. Octopus great. Ditto whole wheat pizza. And pop overs to start
Unusually quiet for village restaurant and tables far apart
The ambience was nice and warm. Staff was welcoming and very attentive though restaurant menu was not served until requested. The food was sublime, everything was very skilfully prepared, which could only be acknowledged by your taste buds.
Delicious food, but a bit pricey. Convenient location.
Really average. Service was a little short and food was not great - fish really dry.
Wine was great and desert was good
Andre was a superb host. Would come again just to eat with him.
The food and service were great. The drinks were also great!
The space is beautiful, as it is comfortable and appropriate to have conversation. I highly recommend this restaurant for a weeknight dinner and for a date. They have a great happy hour as well. I will definitely be back!
