food was amazing, the salmon was so juicy and delicious. all share plates, we tried almost everyhting on the menu and only one or two things that werent fantastic
We had a wonderful experience at Sociale! Every dish was delicious and our waiter was helpful and friendly! Thank you!
We love this restaurant. It's a favorite when we come to Chicago.
This past trip was a miss though. Service was slow or nonexistant. Our waitress did find plenty of time to chat to the bartender; it was hard to flag her down. The food fired really slowly too. We're finally had to tell an expediter to have the kitchen cook everything immediately, and yet two people with identical (steak) dishes were served ten minutes apart, and we ate dessert before steak as it was the only way to make it to the theater on time.
We tried Sociale after a great Jazz Showcase concert--and what a pleasant experience! The food is excellent--I was especially impressed by the fantastic moules et frites and the duck confit sausage flatbread. The mussels were perfectly fresh, perfectly cooked and in a broth that is exceptional. It has wonderful tamarind and other subtle Asian flavors with beautiful balance--honestly, I could just drink it and be happy. Apparently I'm not the only diner who feels this way! Flatbreads are interesting and they work--fun to eat as well as delicious. Great wine list, great service and a nice atmosphere. We have been looking for a really first rate place for a light meal post concert--finally, we've found one. I very highly recommend Sociale. It's terrific.
Great food. Mimosas had a little too much orange juice for my taste. Place is big and cute. I’d go back.
We went to Sociale for a client lunch. It wasn’t very busy, but lunch might not be their busiest time of day. The food and service were good. It was a great spot to have a conversation.
Came to Sociale for a late dinner with friends. We opted for the tasting menu, which I thought was fantastic value and provided us with a lot of different dishes. The highlight was probably the scallops. Cocktails were not pricey, but that’s true of all the restaurants in Chicago these days. Definitely worth coming to for a fun lunch or dinner with friends.
Very good menu, and excellent service. We had a party of eight, which can be difficult, but it worked out great.
Great little tapas joint. If I lived nearby this would become my regular hangout. Great food, nice tapas portions and prices. Service was great!
Great hidden gem in south loop. Food was absolutely delicious! I tried the chargrilled octopus and smoke salmon flatbread which was some of the best dishes I have ever had and so reasonably priced. Service was good and drinks started out top notch but the second round tasted watered down. All in all - a great dining experience!
Like their small plates, both hot and cold. They just need to update their menu. After several visits, there is no more surprises...
Birthday with friends. Outdoor dining was great for such a busy street. The appetizers were great, the drinks were better.
Great spot for drinks on the patio and people watching
Nice food nice waitress cool ambiance
All the food was outstanding with interesting flavor combinations. Great variety.
Great food as always.
Was out of flatbread and one dessert. Of couse, always happens when that's what you want.
Good food, great service!
Great food, attentive wait staff who was very helpful with recommendations.
Great dessert (can’t remember the name) with phyllo dough and peaches with cheese. The eggs Benedict had an overwhelming amount of tomatoes though. The beet salad was amazing! It was a hot day and I think beverage napkins or coasters should have been placed on the table as our drinks were sweating everywhere-gross! The hostess was anything but. She wasn’t very welcoming and not at all friendly-this is HUGE! The owner needs to get someone more personable representing the establishment. Convenient location, street parking if you’re lucky. I would come here again to see if it could redeem itself as I really wanted to like this place.
We celebrated our anniversary and enjoyed a leisurely meal. The sangria was so flavorful and each plate was special. Favorite was the crusted scallops with pistachio sauce, yum!
Everything was perfect. We sat outside, but it was really loud with the passing traffic and honking cars.
Excellent, creative, inventive small plates . Sangria is made on-site and was rich and fruity. Staff very warm and welcoming. Beautiful interior/exterior type setting .
food was a mix. the mushroom dish tasted as if they dumped a ton of salt on it. I mentioned this to the server and was disappointed she didn't offer to make it right. that being said. our other tapas dishes were very good. our favorite was the scallops... tho that was pretty pricey given what you recieved.
Cindy, I am sorry for this lapse in service, I would like to invite you back in so we can make amends. Please reach out to me Thank you Neil General Manager
Dreadful, dreadful food. AVOID!
Hi Stephen, Thank you for leaving for us comment, would you care to email me privately so we can resolve your concerns and or see where we dropped the ball. Thank you Neil General Manager
My son loves their skirt steak, he had 2 orders! Server was very sweet to offer him a glass of milk to eat with his donut dessert. (My son only drink water or milk with meals). Most of the restaurants either do not serve milk.
Nice brunch dishes and yummy sangria! Helpful service! Thanks!
Server was new so I’m OK with her not knowing everything.
Food,as always, was interesting and well prepared...music/ sound a tad too noisy. This is a go to neighborhood spot for me.
Excellent food and great service! Can’t go wrong with this place!
Awesome food and great wine selection! We had a group of 5 and split a bunch of small plates. Made for an amazing evening.
Great place. And dog friendly patio!
With an almost empty restaurant, our service was fairly "hands off." A salad ordered with a query about dressing ingredients was then delivered without any dressing. When asked, we were told that the dressing that comes with the salad contains an ingredient we'd asked about. Instead of letting us know that and at the least, offering a different dressing, the salad (fresh but unimaginative and quite small) was served "dry." It took at least 5 minutes for the waiter to appear, another 5 for the waiter to ask the chef about the dressing, report, and then offer another choice. Very odd to say the least.
We went to Sociale after a day at the Art Institute as it was only about a 20 min walk. We were seated promptly and the server was very attentive. The menu had choices for all kinds of eaters, from adventurous to spins on the classics. All the dishes could be split between two people and were all very affordable priced. The food was absolutely delicious. The best thing about small plates/tapas is you can get so many different things you wouldn’t usually try because you’re not commuting to a whole dish. We decided to be adventurous and try everything we were unfamiliar with and we loved every single item we ordered. Would 100% recommend to someone looking for a bit of a quieter place to experience good food and have good conversation.
The food and atmosphere was good. The service was terrible, especially the hostess. We were not greeted at all or smiled at when we walked in. She just turned around and started walking away. When we did not follow she impatiently motioned for us to follow. The waitress was new but terrible, someone should have been watching her and helping her. Would not rush to go back.
If you’re looking for a place to serve yourself then definitely come here. Our waitress was MIA all night. We waited for our drinks for 20 minutes before finally going up to the bar where they had been sitting. I had to grab plates and silverware from another table once our food started coming out. We’d ask for more water or plates and never got any of it. Hoping they just had an off night.
Food was good, and we enjoyed eating here, but even though we were the only two people in the restaurant, they took over half an hour to prepare out meals. During the week, when we had to get back to the office, that was disappointing
Everything was good except the random parts of the mushroom hot dish was too salty.
Overall a very good experience. I will be back, especially to sit outside on their patio.
Waitress was busy and we waited over 15min to get our check. I get it, but paying attention to your table should be easy and as simple as a glance over to make sure everything is okay.
Listed as tapas/small plates. There were not many small plate selections.
Emptier restaurant, but service was still lacking. Server mistook my order and then rudely questioned me regarding it... only to walk over to the cook (in our vision) and sassily converse about it.
I guess a perk was that the restaurant had a plethora of seating, so good for a larger last minute group. I’d only eat here as a last minute option though.
