Went there on a Sunday and was excited to try something new. The restaurant itself is open and airy and I love the abundance of natural light that filters through the place. But that is definitely not enough to make me come back and give them another chance. I had an 11:45am reservation for two for brunch. We were seated immediately and it was fairly busy. Butttt not so busy where it would warrant such a delay. It took about twenty minutes to even be greeted and it was the manager that finally stopped at our table to explain that he was going to help out server out by taking our drink order. We decided to give the entire order to the manager because we had been ready for a while. It took another ten minutes to get coffee (served by the manager) and then another 30!minutes to get our food which was basically an omelette and egg Benedict. The hash browns were so paper thin and burnt they were not edible and my hollandaise sauce had a sour taste to it that basically made me shove my plate away...my friend’s omelette was pretty tasty so at least she enjoyed her meal...almost. Our assigned waiter finally decided to start serving us and took her plate away without even asking if she was done. He pulled another disappearing act and it took another ten minutes to flag him down for more coffee. But he was right quick to grab his tip, which was the most we saw of him. All in all, there are much better brunch spots in the area to try ( taste wise as well) where the service doesn’t ruin the entire experience. The price point, however, was pretty decent for brunch food.
Always a fun place to go. Sunday brunch has a great bloody mary bar.
Aesthetically, very nice - I was promptly greeted upon entering, the food smelled great and my server was very pleasant (at first). My visit broke started to go bad after my wife and I ordered lunch. She ordered a salad and I wanted to try the chicken & waffles. We ordered after quickly reviewing the menu. Although our soup was at our table within 10mins, our main dishes never arrived. After waiting over a hour and unsuccessfully trying to get our waitresses attention, we paid for our soup and got up to leave - which prompted the manager to visit our table. Instead of apologizing for what turned into crappy service - he pulled out his iPhone to tell us that our wait wasn't an hour, it was in fact 35 mins!!! What he failed to realize was that his iPhone probably only recorded the time our server entered our order, not the time we placed it. It was a complete waste of time and I will never go back. But I heard the food was good, when you actually get it.
Six of us met for dinner and had an outstanding experience. Great menu with healthy portions served by an outstanding staff. The bartender treated you us like we were invited guess who just walked into his living room. Wait staff was attentive but not overbearing.
We came here for my daughter's birthday and we were extremely disappointed. The restaurant was empty, yet we were put in their enclosed porch area. It was a cold winter evening and to top it off the chair out there are metal and were absolutely freezing to sit on. We all had to leave our down coats on the whole meal. We asked to be moved inside (to the empty restaurant) and they said they could not accommodate us. I allowed my daughter to splurge on a $33.00 Steak and Frites - which was essentially the largest mound of french fries with a tiny steak on the side. The other meals at the table were mediocre at best. Absolutely not worth it at all!
The food was delicious! However, they ran out of Shrimp and Grits and my party ordered 4 but they only had enough for one person. Social Bar manager did not come to our table to acknowledge the problems, apologize or to even offer anything. The restrooms were disgusting and nasty, total turn off considering they are right next to the kitchen and again no apology. The above issues are all management issues and need to be resolved quickly.
I love the chic, comfortable vibe. The service is always great, and the food is delicious!
My daughter has an allergy and the kitchen was not willing to accommodate her allergy and basically left her starving. It's not her fault that she has an allergy to certain foods but apparently the arrogance was unbelievable. Very poorly run restaurant but good food. I am sure the owners know they have management problems on the weekends. We sat down on a Sunday at 12:30 PM and it took one hour to get fries and 3 salads. The fries were supposed to come first but they came the same time as the salads and hour later. In addition, my daughter the 4th meal didn't get any protein in her and settled for just extra cheese and that took 1.5 hour to receive it. Plus they never put the extra cheeses on and had to wait another 10 min. I felt so bad for her and it was just awful to watch how she was treated. I don't think we will return ever again because we were defiantly were discriminated against because of a food allergy. Its sad because allergies happen and for whatever reason our family was treated unfairly.
As always, Social offers an awesome menu and provides top-shelf experience. The service is top notch and always helpful and friendly. This is our main go-to spot for weekend brunch!
Had a good brunch with Grandpa and the grand kids. The skillet is great with the make your own. Only complaint was the difficulty in getting coffee refills!
Great afternnon lunch in Downtown Birmingham ,Mi . great menu and service we ordered off the build you own salad ... very good . will return again !!
First time for me. Others in the party have been there before. Limited menu but Items are good. Food came out fast but not all together. We sat out in the covered patio and it was to cold with drafts coming in under the tent. Ask for inside dining be prepared for cold drafts when the door to the inside opens.
Cute ambience. Came early for a reservation as we were traveling from out of town was told that we would have to sit closer to reservation time. The entrance hostess was overwhelmed and it came across as brash but as I explained why we arrived early and not late she acquiesced. We sat in the additional room! I ordered a skillet! Very pleased with the flavors, however I am about portion sizes but I literally had four spoon fulls of hash browns. And those that were not burnt were mediocre but that is the filling part. The tomato salsa was missing along with the mushrooms. The short ribs for 6 dollars was completely a rip off! However the egg whites were the savior and made up for most of the mishaps! Just fabulous and even well seasoned. My companion stated that the shrimp and grits were cooked very well! Would return if in the area again. Mixed crowd. Reminded me of a hip cute place that you would find in Chicago minus the small portions and the burnt hash browns and toast.
The food was excellent as usual. The cheeseburger with pork belly is always delicious. Tried the scallops with date and pomegranate and the deep fried oreos, both of which were excellent. The server was a little distracted and clearly intimidated by having to open a bottle of wine. The managers were very attentive, however, and did their best to smooth things out.
Demi glaze was taken off the steak and replaced with pepper corn...not a good move. If the glaze comes back I’ll buy steak again...otherwise everything else was great.
The service and cocktails were incredible. This would be an awesome place for after work drinks. The noise level was moderate and they were only at 20% capacity. But the service was perfect, Presley had great recommendations. My husband had the scallops and really enjoyed them. I had the steak frites - which should really be labeled frites with steak. There were like two pounds of fries with a steak on top. All were delicious but the amount of fries were laughable. Highly recommend the cocktails and Brussel sprouts.
First visit and we will return!!
Great food and drinks!
Our party (all pregnant women) was seated in the bar area next to the bloody mary self-service station and our server was also the bar tender. He was a friendly guy but was too busy at the bar to attend to our table. Service was very slow despite the restaurant being half empty. When we finally did get our food, 3 out of the 4 meals were inedible. The kale salad was good, the warm chicken salad sandwich had all raw chicken pieces, the chicken on the chicken and waffles was so over cooked that it could not be cut with a knife and was so tough it could not be chewed, and the salami and eggs had a hair in the middle of the eggs. The server said Sundays were difficult for the kitchen staff and we were not charged for the 3 meals with issues. We weren't in a hurry but we were not trying to linger and it took over 2 hours to order, receive our food which was half eaten, and pay.
We wen't with family and friends and had a fantastic time!
Small menu, but everything was wonderful we were still spoiled for choice.
The atmosphere was nice. The menu was unique but limited. Almost seemed too froo-froo; nothing "normal". It was nice to try something different. Unsure if I'd go back.
I made a reservation for my friends birthday. It gave me an option to pick a high top or a normal table and I selected normal table. When we got there, they didn’t have a table ready for us and when they did we were sat at a high top in the bar section which is specifically not what I asked for. Since we were in the bar section we had 3 different servers which was a bit annoying, but they really made up for it with the food. The Gemelli was to DIE for. The steak and frites were served with a plate of fries bigger than my face! The Mac and cheese was also amazing. Cannot believe how great the food was!
Social always is consistently good with great service!
Food is always great. Good drinks too.
Food was awesome. They have low carb options and drinks
Amazing brunch and Bloody Mary bar! I’ll definitely be back!
Great atmosphere! Food was delicious and service spot on
We’re new to the area so it’s been fun trying new places! This is one of the cutest places so far! Now granted, we were here over the holidays so it had holiday lights adorably spewed alllll throughput but it was amazing! Best spinach artichoke dip I’ve had. Ambience was perfect and great drinks too!!
We drove 2 hours each way with the Social Kitchen as our destination. Fabulously good fries, pork tacos, falafel lettuce wraps and a roast beef sandwich w French onion soup to dip. Great cocktails. We tried to do it ALL and take home boxes proved it.
New Year’s Day...put our reservation on covered patio in freezing temps.
My four year old daughter and I went for brunch and were seated upon arrival. The staff was friendly and our server was excellent. However, I was very disappointed with our food. My daughter ordered the butter noodles, but they had to be sent back because they were visibly hard and stuck together in clumps (she LOVES noodles like that and was grossed out the moment our server placed them in front of her). When I asked if she could get pancakes or a basic side of fruit (like what was on my Açaí bowl), we were told they were all out. I ordered the Açaí bowl (which came on a plate). The quinoa that came on it was extremely salty. It was definitely overpriced for what it was and would not order it again. I hadn’t been to Social in a long time and thought it would be a nice experience for my daughter and I on New Years Day. Can’t say I’ll make it a point to return any time soon.
Very good food, tastefully presented. I only visit occasionally because the menu is rather limited, never changes and there are no specials. If you go during the winter, avoid being seated on the patio. Even with the space heaters in the ceiling it was very cold.
The food was amazing & the service could’ve been better with the drinks but the food surpassed everything.
Last night before the new baby! It was very good!! A little different for bham!
It was our son’s 18th. Great time.
Came for lunch with a friend, and I had to take her here for the first time! Great lunch menu and amazing service!! We both have birthdays coming up and the staff signed a birthday card, which was a lovely touch.
They seated us outside in the tent area which was very cold despite having plenty of seats in the warm building. The music was way to loud and the food was mediocre.
Grabbed dinner at Social after a movie. First time there and the drinks and food were outstanding. Decorated for the holidays...great fun.
Literally came back and requested same server (Tiera) because she was SO amazing so kind and made sure we were okay our drinks were always filled !! the food was Amazing we ordered the turkey burger and grilled cheese my mouth is watering typing this it was THAT good
Easy to find good prices and food Fries are to die for!
