About Social Eatery & Bar

“Social Eatery & Bar offers unforgettable Italian-American comfort food in a unique indoor/outdoor setting with an exceptional style that is refined yet casual and invites spontaneity. Old World charm kisses New World sophistication. Eat. Drink. Socialize.”

OUR CONCEPT:

Social Eatery & Bar takes an inventive and original approach to traditional Italian-American comfort food that emphasizes the use of fresh-made and local ingredients.

For generations, Italian food has been amongst the most popular, if not the most popular, food in America. Today, those who dine at fine restaurants of every type continue to enjoy classic cuisine, and still demand creativity from the chef. Yet there is a new dynamic, an almost primal yearning for food that is healthy, fresh, local, delicious and fun.

Social Eatery & Bar hopes to combine our love for classic Italian comfort food with our desire for fresh and local ingredients.

Just as phenomenal as ever! Pork belly appetizer is to die for as well as the other appetizers and entrees we had. Socials wine selection never ceases to amaze and the weather for dining in their outside courtyard was perfection. Parents were in from out of town and this was an absolute request from them for their Saturday night! Social does it again... straight ACES!

Our dining experience was lovely last night! Our hostess escorted us to the bar area then juggled a few things so we could be seated outdoors, the bartender Connor was top-shelf, and Valerie our server was exemplary! Every meal and every drink was perfect!

The food was beyond a disappointment! The zucchini fitters were raw inside , runny and inedible. The quinoa I had under my scallops was a gloppy mess. My companions roasted vegetable dish was terrible. Many of the vegetables were not cooked enough, almost raw. Our waitperson was gracious but did nothing about our food complaints. We will not be returning.

We have not been to Social Eatery in awhile and tonight we met with friends that we have also not seen in awhile. April, our server, was very polite, efficient, and spot on with good service. Our food was exactly the way we last dined at Social Eatery. Nothing was haute cuisine, nor exotically presented. It was just well prepared, good hot food with lots of flavor, comforting and what we considered down to earth. The pace was mellow which made for great catch up conversation. We love the meatballaria section of the menu which always makes us smile. Will we come back? We left wondering why we have not been back sooner. Fun evening; Good food.

I've been going to Social for over 4 years now and it never disappoints. The food is always amazing, as are the drinks and the service is always top notch.

My husband was served the wrong meal. Once they realized the error, he was given the small side salad that came with his meal while I ate. When his meal was delivered (meatballs), they were cold in the middle. Our drinks were never refilled and when he asked for Parmesan cheese, he was given a shaker. I was not impressed given the price we paid for the meal.

Decided to finally try grouper in Florida. Mistake. Came out fishy and over cooked. The carrots and green beans that came with it were both very under cooked. I enjoy crisp veggies but these were just plain raw. Told waitress and she suggested trying their chicken breast which I did and that came out over cooked and dry. Couldn’t even get my knife through it to cut it. My husband had the pork chop on top of a serving of green mashed potatoes (or as they called it spinach mashed?) that was a pretty decent plate. Service was ok. Manager did come over to say he was sorry about the grouper. Might try again.

Such a disappointment. We went to Social a few times when it first opened and loved it. Then, we had a really bad experience - terrible food and terrible service. So, we boycotted last year, but heard from others that it was good. This year, we decided to try again and see for ourselves. Most of the food was decent - not great, definitely not worth the price, but tasty enough. However, two of the items ordered did not come as described on the menu. A kale salad came without croutons. We didn’t ask for them because our waitress was nowhere to be found. We were dining early, so about ¾ of the tables were empty, so she wasn’t busy at other tables. We even had to ask two other waiters for (1) salt and (2) to turn the heater on next to our table. Our waitress was still MIA. When the main course arrived, one of them (grilled vegetables) was supposed to come with grilled polenta and a basil dressing. It was merely a plate of grilled veggies, and quite small for the $18 charged. No way was it enough for a main course, which it was listed as. We asked the waitress about the polenta, and her response was, “Oh yeah, we ran out of polenta the other night. Maybe they have more in. I’ll see what I can find.” No apology, no warning when we ordered the veggies that they were out of polenta. She then brought us a small cup of croutons (perhaps the forgotten ones from the salad, which we had already finished), no polenta, no sauce, and still, NO APOLOGY. We didn’t see her again until she brought the bill.

We went to find the manager, and filled him in. He was very nice, apologetic, and took the grilled vegetables off the bill. The waitress returned with the revised bill, stated that it was revised, and STILL NO APOLOGY!!!!

So, horrible service, and just average food, definitely not worth the value (even if the polenta and sauce had come with the veggies). Same for the other dishes we ordered. Needless to say, we won’t be returning.

A perfect spot for a pre-theatre dinner! It's near the FST complex, the Van Wezel, the Urbanite, & just a few blocks from the Asolo. Bon appetit!

Drinks and service very good. Three of us had Italian dinners and agreed that the red sauce was way to sweet. I expect a good red sauce to be tangy, spicy and harty. The sauce we were served tasted like someone accidentally spilled sugar into the pot.

Food is good, especially the roasted chicken with spinach. I had the veggie meatballs which I used to love. They’re still good, but I think the recipe has changed. I liked them better before. Still, one of my favorite places. Unique atmosphere that my guests always love. Wish they were pen for lunch.

I go to Social all the time! Their new Chef is doing a great job, and having a spiked hot chocolate while we have this cold weather is a real treat here in Florida. Their pizzas are always good, and their specials can be really delicious. I always recommend Social, especially for my friends looking to have a cocktail on the weekends

LOVE LOVE LOVE! SOCIAL is already a go-to but brought my family while they are in town and they absolutely loved it! I have sent multiple people to Social which has prompted multiple return visits. The Craft Cocktails are amazing and the chicken parm meatballs are to die for! The service staff is always wonderful as well. Wonderful location near Ritz, Westin and theatre. Amazing atmosphere - especially in the outdoor seating area. If you have not been, it's a must!

We have been to Social many times but this time was disappointing. I had lobster ravioli. It was very heavy and loaded with sauce. The taste was not very good.
When we asked for bread, we were told there was a charge.
I don't think we will return anytime soon.

I had noticed that Social Eatery has had a number of poor reviews lately. However, I had eaten there twice in the last 2 weeks and both the food and service were excellent. It was not very busy both times (a Tuesday and a Thursday night) but I can say we were very happy with our experience and will be back. I love the veggie meatballs!

Open table and social website did not make it clear until we showed up on New Year’s Eve that there was a set menu for $100 p. person that did not include drinks. The staff tried their best to relieve the issue but by the time we were conveyed this information it was too late. Food was mediocre, too much dressing on salad and chocolate mouse cake was neither cake nor mousse but rather a chocolate soup. The entire table got filets and did not get the temperatures that were requested. While the ambiance is nice, its not worth the steep price, average food and slow service. I will not be returning.

We have always liked Social by had a horrible experience the other night during xmas week. The kitchen was busy and no one greeted our table for a long time after we were seated. The whole dinner was like that- we had to keep tracking down our waitress to get our food and drinks. It took HOURS, out table got increasingly more annoyed, and the waitress was not very apologetic. Did not offer to bring us bread or anything. The $5 sodas were almost entirely crushed ice too. They told us an hour after we placed our order that they were out of one of the items (chicken meatballs). In the end after this experience the manager apologized but only took the meatballs off the bill. He gave us a gift card as well but did not say how much is on it- I don't know if we will bother to go back again.

My husband and I were introduced to Social by the Ritz Carlton during one of our many visits to the area. We have dined here often and now that we are residents of the area like to dine here when seeking a moderately priced dinner with good food and good service. Tonight was extremely disappointing and while the server was very nice the service was INCREDIBLY slow!!! By the time the entrees were due to arrive we were told that the soup that was ordered was sold out. One of the guests cracked her tooth on something in her Nicoise salad. Although we indicated one of the couples in the group was celebrating their anniversary in the reservation notes no mention of it by the staff during dinner. Social is always a go to restaurant when looking for quality dining but was extremely disappointing this evening. Will not recommend and will likely not return.

There are so many good things about Social - including the sound system - the problem was that the volume was WAY, WAY TOO LOUD and there is not a place to move away from the speakers. It was really hard to visit or even relax. Maybe we are to old to be going there (over 50)? The choice of music was fine, the food was good, the service was good, we love the seating and fire pits.. but, it was hard to enjoy. We asked them if they could turn it down (we were the only ones there at that time - of course it filled up quickly). If we had known it would stay so loud I don't think we would have stayed and ordered food to go with our great drinks. Like I said lots and lots of good things about Social just to much volume on the music.

My wife and I really enjoy the outside patio but find it much too loud inside. The pizza was way under seasoned and had a texture that felt like chewing on sand, but the waitress had no problem replacing the meal with another dish. I got the volcano pasta instead and it ended up being one small meatball completely drowned in sauce. Again, not very good. The waitress mentioned they have some new people in the kitchen & that they’ve been having some issues. We will go back but really hope they have fixed these issues by then.

Worst restaurant experience in my 10 years in Sarasota. After telling server we had to be at theater for 8 pm show (we arrived at 6:15). Meals did not arrive until 7:15 . Server and manager were totally unhelpful and rude. Food wasn’t up to Social’s standards. Used to be our go to place before theater. Will not be going there anymore!

Horrible experience. Our server disappeared and it took forever to get our main entrees. When they arrived they were cold and looked two days old!!!!! We complained and the manager (aka lumberjack pseudo manager) said he would come 1 meal! We were not satisfied as all the meals were cold and over a day old. They said they would comp everything but only comped half! Liars. Deceitful! Horrible experience!!!
