About Social Eatery & Bar
“Social Eatery & Bar offers unforgettable Italian-American comfort food in a unique indoor/outdoor setting with an exceptional style that is refined yet casual and invites spontaneity. Old World charm kisses New World sophistication. Eat. Drink. Socialize.”
Social Eatery & Bar takes an inventive and original approach to traditional Italian-American comfort food that emphasizes the use of fresh-made and local ingredients.
For generations, Italian food has been amongst the most popular, if not the most popular, food in America. Today, those who dine at fine restaurants of every type continue to enjoy classic cuisine, and still demand creativity from the chef. Yet there is a new dynamic, an almost primal yearning for food that is healthy, fresh, local, delicious and fun.
Social Eatery & Bar hopes to combine our love for classic Italian comfort food with our desire for fresh and local ingredients.

Social Eatery & Bar Ratings and Reviews
We recently visited for a friend''s birthday and were very impressed with every aspect of our visit. We tried several different items on the drink menu and enjoyed it all. The food was incredible. You will not be disappointed with the pizza! Our server was lovely. We will definitely be back!
We decided to follow along with Sarasota Magazine's 10 Cocktails list in the latest issue and try each recommended location and cocktail. Social was the first one we tried and we were thrilled with the appearance and ambiance - very different than most of the places we've been since moving here and much more like the places we've loved in the metro areas we've lived before. You can dress up or you can be chic casual - I wouldn't wear sneakers or athletic wear that seems to be appropriate for any place here in the area. There's an indoor and an outdoor bar, as well as indoor and outdoor tables. We will be back, probably pre-show since it's season now.
Social Eatery & Bar is happening! Gorgeous styling, people to match, with wonderful service and indoor / outdoor atmosphere. Our first time there, but marvelous food and drink offerings and a happening scene. It's now at the top of my Sarasota restaurant and bar choices. The very top
We were looking for a trendy place to take out of town friends for drinks & dinner. The ambience is decent but the service has been an absolute nightmare. It took 25 minutes and a visit to the hostess stand before anyone even bothered to stop by our table to take a drink order—and even then it was not our waiter and instead someone who “helped out.” The below average service continued throughout the night with long waits in between drinks, dishes and checkout. The food was EXCELLENT. However, your service needs to get its act together no matter how great the food is. Overall disappointing visit to Social.
Excited to eat here. The restaurant itself was nice, with any different options for seating including outdoors. Noisy interior dining. Food was overprices and lacking in flavor. Some menu descriptions did not match the actual dish presented at the table. i.e. "Cat Iron Vegetables" was more of a cassoulet than appetizer. Big mistake of the evening: our dining companion ordered the special of the night with featured Salmon. When the dish was presented, the entree was Scallops as a substitute. No explanation other than the fact they ran out of the salmon. It was only 715PM and the restaurant was not crowded. Service was friendly. With all the restaurant choices in Sarasota, we will probably not be returning here. Wanted to like it , but the visit fell short.
Not nearly as good as in the past. Two cocktails from our table had to be sent back to the bar, just not good. Waitress never asked if we wanted wine with dinner and my husband, who had not ordered a pre-dinner cocktail, did. Also, the restaurant chooses to have the kitchen staff deliver the food to the table rather than the wait staff. Sorry, I don't usually leave reviews, but as this is the second time I've been underwhelmed, I went ahead...
Restaurant was a lovely experience all around. Complimentary valet made the start of the journey great because the parking in that area gets filled up quick. (Just be sure to tip your valet when you pick up your car.) We had reservations but were given the option to pick between inside or outside, when we weren't sure which to pick, they suggested a bit of both and so we did. The seating and atmosphere is modern but welcoming--we were lucky to have good weather and a nice cool breeze.
Food was great. Two pizzas and two orders of the free range chicken for the four of us, and we all had great things to say about it. We even opted for dessert: a cappuccino (amazing), the nutella sponge cake (goes perfect with the cappuccino), and two scoops of gelato: chocolate and grand marnier (full of flavor and perfect for the weather).
The restaurant looked clean and our server was well informed and kind throughout our time there.
One minor downside, is that it is a bit loud but became louder around 9 pm when the music was put way up to encourage dancing over by the bar. We were almost done with our meal, but it was hard to converse with the loud music.
Never disappointed! The food and service is always excellent! From the moment you are greeted at the door to the hostess taking you to the table to the server-all extra friendly welcoming! And the food is super tasty. We love eating outdoors and now looking up at the Westin rooftop bar (along with the night stars!) highly recommended.
We live in Sarasota and love Social on First. If anything the food has got better over the 4 years they have been open. We always get the same waitress - Val - and she is outstanding. We love the outdoor bar and the terrace. The only comment I would make is that we choose the outdoor terrace for dining because it is quieter - the main restaurant is unfortunately very noisy. However this last time the roof had to be closed on the outdoor terrace and, unfortunately, it made talking and hearing very difficult as it was VERY noisy. I don't know if anything can be done about that.
The Restaurant is an attractive contemporary design. The noise level from the music system is a bit loud when you enter. The hard surfaces of the restaurant tend to exacerbate the noise. It appears that the restaurant was designed for a younger happy-hour type crowd, with the bar prominently displayed along the left wall. Kyle, our server, was excellent, and we all agreed that the alcoholic drinks were superb. Our party of four had pasta dishes that we enjoyed. We ate in a somewhat quieter area of the restaurant. Since it was raining, we did not request outdoor dining. Perhaps the music level is lower outside. Because of the great service and drinks, we will be back.
Service slow, had Theatre tickets and were on time restraints. First to be seated, took 40 minutes to be served. Drinks were expensive, most liquors were unknown brands. Cocktail was made wrong. Did not order a second, although 30 minutes passed before server returned. Probably would not return, second try on this place. Both visits were between poor and fair overall.
Overall a nice place with excellent service. Food was good but did not care for my entree which was chicken meatloaf special. Too spicy. I did not care for the menu entrees. If I go again I will stick to appetizers, salads or pizza. Not a great wine list by the glass.
Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Restaurant is VERY loud. Even if you're not sitting in the bar area, it was hard to hear conversation at our table. I wish more of the restaurant was under air conditioning. More than half the area is not (it's semi-open air). The only area that was fully air conditioned was the front bar and we didn't want to sit there because of the noise level. The food was okay. Nothing spectacular. My carbonara was more soupy than creamy so it was a little disappointing.
We were celebrating our friends birthday. The atmosphere is fun, not many "old " people.
In Florida it is nice to go out and be with young people. If you had live music the place would be amazing. Our waitress was so polite and courteous , she was serving the whole front of the restaurant. There should be a busser who serves water for her. We had no water service for awhile.
First visit to Social. Had requested an inside table when the reservation was made and was a little disappointed that we were placed at a table that was at the opening to the outside eating area. Although there were fans overhead, it was very humid and warm. This was our only negative at Social. The staff were friendly, fast, and efficient. The food - - Amazing!! We were a party of 4, 3 of us having different orders, so we all taste tested the various meals. We will definitely return to Social and have already been relaying the goodness of Social.
Social Eatery characterizes itself as Eat - Farm Fresh, Drink - Craft, Be Social and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent. We chose the freshly caught Grouper with and amazing sauce as well as several of their other specialties. The food as fabulous, the Craft Beers and Cocktails were inventive and the wine list had something for everyone. The space has indoor dining open to the outdoors with a great vibe. Many patrons hang at the back patio open bar with not only has a fire pit, but also outdoor air conditioning to keep cool in the summer heat.
This was a GREAT find.
Monday night "date" dinner. Made a reservation, although I don’t believe one was needed. I always recommend reservations. Neither of us ordered alcoholic drinks but did order the ginger-lime (non-alcoholic) cocktail. Tart and refreshing on a warm early evening. Both ordered meatballs, one chicken parmesan and one lamb. Both were delicious.
The service was spotted on, we were taken care of but not coddled. The price was reasonable. I can't wait to go back in fall and winter. I believe in the cooler months, Social is a gem.
MY FOOD WAS EXCELLENT; WIFE'S NOT AS GOOD. SERVICE WAS OUTSTANDING (ALWAYS IS WITH VAL--WHAT A GREAT STAFF PERSON). WINE WAS GREAT AND AT A REASONABLE PRICE. BEEN A WHILE SINCE LAST AT SOCIAL (HAD SOME DISAPPOINTMENTS) AND NOW FEEL IT IS BACK TO BEING A STAR FACILITY.
I had a wood fired pizza and coming form a picky pizza palate (say that three times fast!) , let me say that the key ingredient (tomato sauce) was special.
I dined alone (I know the irony, dinner for one at a place named Social). Though neither of the groups next to me gave me the time of day (which is an observation, not a complaint , the bar manager was very sweet to converse with me so I didn't feel alienated.
To drum up business, Social may want to advertise a night for loners who want conversation and book seats at that large communal table. I can't be the only human in Sarasota who'd like dinner conversation, but is without a current relationship.
I'll definitely go back, with or without company.
We have been going to Social since it opened.
The menu has been pretty consistent but this time they did not have the specials for fish and meat, and the menu at the bottom was not there. It usually had some pasta, seafood and/or meat entrees. I did have the lamb meatballs which were great but I was looking for something more healthy. Other members of our party were happy with their food. We moved from the bar area to outside to get away from the noise in the bar and that caused our service to be slightly disrupted.
All in all ok, but not as good as we had experienced before.
