Social Eatery & Bar
At Social Eatery & Bar, we’ve been inspired to serve a Global Fusion cuisine, a culturally, and regionally inspired menu focused on ‘farm fresh’ ingredients sourced locally and globally. We believe in supporting local farmers as well as exposing indigenous ingredients that create the flavor and inspiration for our menu. Whether it’s our Chermoula spice from North Africa, a Chimichurri sauce from Argentina or a Bibimbop Rice Bowl from Korea we believe the way we celebrate food as a world tribe is inspiring and it is represented in our carefully curated menu.
Excellent service...excellent food! Great space to hang, easy and socialize!
Fun and casual. Great tapas!! And even better cocktails!!
Had a great dinner with out of town friends at Social! Food and drinks were delicious! Our waiter, Owen did an excellent job! Will be back!
I was disappointed with both dinners we ordered. The special that night was over cooked and very greasy. I had the paella which just ok. The bartender Sharre was great. If I return it to try the pizza.
The service was slow. The staff were very cordial but there were too few servers for the number of people dining. But the biggest problem here is the food... it was incredibly bland and uninteresting. The cauliflower dish was almost tasteless. The Poke bowl had mushy rice and tasteless vegetables. The plantain was good but the salad nicoise was unremarkable. When we complained about the food, the cauliflower was removed from the bill and we received an overall discount which was nice. I would not recommend this restaurant...Sarasota has so many other great places to dine.
Delicious food, decent service. A little noisy.
We hd a very enjoyable experience at Social Eatery. The service was very good and we ate at a welcomed leisurely pace. The food was excellent quality and the atmosphere was relaxed.
The food was great!! I ate mine and sampled 4 other plates
We were on the early aide of Sunday brunch and the server seemed to be covering the whole restaurant and bartender had not arrived yet. Hit and miss on the Bloody Mary’s. I’m usually willing to pay premium prices at a nice brunch because the service makes it a nice experience. The server was friendly but seemed in over her head and bar service made it feel like we got shortchanged.
Such a fabulous experience-as always @ Social. Met some friends for a tasty meal and lovely beverages. Social never disappoints. Our waiter Owen was amazing!
Friends in town
Service was incredibly slow- even though we were there early. (We had a show to go to)
Would have preferred their small plates (Mac and cheese) which was delicious to be smaller in size and less expensive . Same thing with the salad Nicoise. It was delicious but huge and expensive for a salad(I’d prefer a side salad so that I can have it with a small plate.)
The wait staff apparently gave our meal to another table. three different people said our meal was coming right out and when when manager said the same thing i told him it had been 18 minutes since the last person said that to us.
7:00 on a Thursday. Seated immediately. Service was on point. Not too loud with good background noise. Ordered two alcohol free cocktails, 1 appetizer, and a main meal. Everything was very good. Nothing was explosive taste wise but everything was really good. I love this restaurant and once again it proved to be a reliable solid choice.
Loved the toasted ravioli and the pizza!
Our Birthday celebration was very enjoyable. The open air dining and fire pits were wonderful!
Very disappointing - told friends about their signature dish - Volcano. When several tried to order it we were told it wasn’t available, supposedly because the new chef wasn’t sure how to make it (??).
Another time last year we tried to order that dish and were told they were out of it.
There are too many other restaurant choices in Sarasota to bother with Social.
There calamari and meatballs are especially good and a favorite of mine. My husband had a pizza which was yummy!
While eating here my chair gave out below me while I was holding a baby. Whether it was my fault or not, the manager made sure to come by frequently and talk to us in a very defensive manner saying that the chairs were made of steel and he is not sure how it bent (deff made of aluminum). We thought he was extremely rude. We asked for a box to take my leftovers home and he threw away my food and returned with an empty box. When I mentioned that my food was not in the to-go box, he said there is a "dark cloud over this table" and it made him forget but its not his fault - again speaking to us in an accusatory manner like that was somehow my fault?? What kind of manager tells their customers that there is a dark cloud over their table?? Fortunately our bill was completely covered and the pastry chef came out with a complimentary dessert - she was very kind. Overall it was a terrible experience due to the way the manager spoke. We never plan to return to this restaurant which is unfortunate because it was beautiful inside. Hope this review helps.
Dry sweet server. Chicken dry. Scallops wrapped with prosciutto excellent. Very weak pour on drinks
Atmosphere is nice. Nice outdoor eating area. Service was good and pleasant. The food was under whelming. Nothing special as far as food. I would probably go back for a drink and an appetizer but so many places to go in Sarasota now this would probably not be first on my list.
We were disappointed that Social had no bottles of Chardonnay available. We even tried ordering a chablis which was on the list and Social was out of it also. Our meals were fine but not as outstanding as past experiences with Social.
I had read several recent negative reviews which detailed slow service. We had a wonderful experience. If there were any problems, they’ve been eliminated. Good job!
I’ve been to Social before and the service was always pretty good. Last night everyone seemed off, or they were all new. I went with another woman, and the host outside the door said “will your husbands be following?” Kind of a shocking assumption in these times! Then our waiter totally got our drink order wrong, I brought my drink up to the bartender and told her the problem, but she seemed to just forget about it. Finally, our food arrived (we’d been there 1/2 hr. at this point) and still no drink. We complained...and were finally brought our drinks (which they graciously comped.) The food was fair...lamb meatballs in a creamed spinach sauce. The service and food quality seems to have gone downhill...too bad, it’s always been pretty reliable.
Great food. Neat outdoor space. Great signature cocktails.
Service was a bit slow but the food & drinks were good and they accommodated our children's food requests.
We love this place. When we have friends coming in town we always try to go there.
The outdoor dining space is always a pleasure when the weather is cooperative. The Calamari was ample and delicious; two of us shared it. The meatballs, a-go-favorite, were as tasty as always!
Social is always a pleasant dining experience. I love the diverse menu and can always select something delicious and interesting.
The food was decent, but the service was bad. The waiter claimed he was having a bad day, but everything seemed to be very slow in coming. Menu gave a good range of choices, and the beer list was good. Restaurant was quiet that night, which makes the slow service seem even more odd.
Menu limited, calamari appetizer mostly sweet potatoes and zucchini
Kale salad not kale...unknown green
Same unknown green appeared on pizza as basil/arugula
Food felt a little expensive for what it was. A lot of the things tasted a little bland. Drinks were awesome though!
Awesome pre-concert Venue.
And Owen is a great server!
Always good food and excellent martinis
I think this place is more for the atmosphere. Very cool pace. However, the food is lacking. Very Bland. Was told the chef is new. Maybe it will improve.
We had a great server who was able to accommodate us and really took good care of us even when our food was taking a long time ! The food was good even though it wasn’t what we ordered . They didn’t charge us for it . Which I think is gold customer service . I think it was just an off day for the restaurant bc they have a new cook . But I have been to Social Many times and I could tell it was just an off night
Very disappointing! It took over an hour to be served our dinner after we placed it. They were out of some items ordered and when we were served one of the meals was not what was placed. The manager that addressed the issues of the night was flippant in his attitude and said it was just part of the kitchen being too backed up at the beginning of a busy holiday weekend and what could he really do?? He said he could do a back flip if he could... and that was it for me!
All of our meals (5 people) came out cold after waiting an hour for our food. After we complained, the waiter reached over and touched one of the plates as if he doubted us! My husband said he thought his meal was supposed to have melted parmigiana cheese on it and the waiter asked me to pas the shaker of grated cheese and handed it to my husband! Half way thru the meal the manager came over and when we complained, he offered to send all the meals back which we declined. He then said, quite casually, to let him know if there was anything else he could do for us and walked away as if we had been happy with our meals! Nothing offered as compensation, not even an apology...we had bought two bottles of wine in addition to the food! And, when we stood up to leave my husband’s chair collapsed and he fell to the ground (he is a non-drinker so don’t think it was that!) and the main reaction from the employees was to whisk the chair out of sight! Hmmm... To say, we will never go back would be an understatement!!
Planned a reservation here months in advance as a part of a friend’s destination wedding weekend. Upon arrival at the restaurant, we were shocked to hear that the kitchen had sold out of pizzas, despite the fact that they make up a third of the dinner menu. In general, the staff and kitchen were proven to be unprepared for a holiday crowd (Valentine’s Day) evidenced by the lack of attention and overall length of the experience.
This was one of my favorite placed to go in Sarasota, and hopefully they can redeem themselves so I can continue going. However, this experience was an awful one. It was my Mother's Birthday (Her B-day is on V-day), and I thought this would be a great place for a group of 10 on V-day. But, it was not. First, it took about 30 to 45 minutes to get our drinks, and 1/2 of the drinks where made poorly. Secondly, they where out of about 3-4 dishes on the menu and the pizza oven was broken (This place is known for it's pizzas!!). Then, an hour after we arrived, when we finally gout our two calamari appetizers, the calamari was soggy and awful. I use to LOVE the calamari. It seems on this night they where under staffed and under prepared. And, on a night they should be over prepared. We where so disappointed we left after we received the Calamari. We went to the restaurant across the street and had an amazing experience instead.
Went for valentines. Had reservation for 630. Ordered 635. Appetizer came out at 715. Left at 830 pm when the food had yet to come out. Everyone wS upset around us. Needs new management.
