Socarrat Paella Bar - Nolita
Socarrat, the quintessence of the perfect paella and for which the restaurant is named, is the delectable, sensuous crust that forms on the bottom of the paella pan when the liquid is rendered and the rice reaches its peak of succulence. The menu, an authentic array of delicious dishes from the regions of Spain specializing in traditional tapas with an accent on paella and fideua (which substitutes fried noodles for rice) that can be characterized as a true exploration for the palette.
Socarrat Nolita's ambiance denotes feelings of warmth, comfort, and hospitality. Building on its sister restaurant's identity as a small, intimate space comprised primarily of one large communal table, the restaurant also offers banquet, bar and table seating.

We had always loved Socarrat but haven't been there in a while. It's outdoor seating only for now. The food is still outstanding. We loved the veal & beef meatballs and our lobster paella (my favorite). The restaurant manager offered 2 glasses of champagne and even added a candle and additional items with our dessert for our anniversary. Great services and great food. It's not cheap but totally worth it!
We're not 100% comfortable eating out on the street so though we thoroughly liked the food we will not be back until there is indoor dining.
Best Sangria!! Paella was delicious, but the best was the service!! I will recommend Socarrat to all of my friends and family. Looking forward to seeing them soon 😊*
Socarrat is the best place to get Paella in NYC. Period. The food and drinks are absolutely amazing. The staff is friendly and my wife and I always have an amazing time. Even during COVID, the outdoor experience is great! Be sure to get a reservation because they get pretty busy!
Amazing service, and the food was fabulous as always!! Get the bacon wrapped dates!
Food is as good as always and the staff was very attentive and friendly.
Place is fire, definitely adding to my rotation of Spanish restaurants.
Nice restaurant, good atmosphere.
Good food, real Spanish ones.
We will definitely come back.
Glad to see my favorite Spanish restaurant in NYC return during/post Covid19
Delicious paella, wonderful service, with a lovely outdoor patio on a quiet street. Definitely recommend!
great paella to eat alfresco with a good sangria: ole!!!
Food is quite delicious. Staff is absolutely lovely.
Loved it! Great food and service ❤️
We had a great time, the paella for 2 was enough. We also got a bottle and the staff was really great
The paella could have used a bit more salt to let the flavors out
Socarrat Paella Bar is a charming, delicious spot in Nolita. We booked it for a large business dinner only having read about it on the Eater NYC blog and it lived up to the buzz.
The restaurant is decorated with rustic flair and has a cozy, vibrant feel. The servers were knowledgeable and very attentive, able to suggest dishes and quantities for our party. Smaller tapas plates were well prepared and full of flavor. Spinach croquettes and a grilled vegetable Napoleon were faves.
For mains, we ordered three different paellas to satisfy everyone's meat or veg preference. They were much fun to share family style. A good selection of wines and cocktails is offered, but we opted for the refreshing white sangria, which had a tropical kick, and a pitcher of classic red sangria. Luscious homemade desserts topped off the meal -- the churros and flan were favorites of our group.
All in all, it was a lovely dinner served by people who clearly care about the quality of their food and the comfort of their guests. It will be hard to top for our next dinner with this client. I can't wait to go back on my own for dinner next time I'm in the city.
Amazing tapas and delicious paella! A little pricey but worth it!
Great food and service - had an amazing date night
Never disappoints! Best paella in the city hands down.
Got seated over half an hour after an already late reservation. Slow service and were eating very late as restaurant was closing as a result.
Went for valentine's day fixed menu, they ended up placing us on a sharable table. Understandable, but it was unnecessary to pack the table filled with couples trying to share paella, give us a little space so we can hear each other.
Went for Valentine’s Day dinner. I thought about deducting a star because the service was incredibly slow, but it was really crowded and the staff was very accommodating. They even comped me a glass of wine for the extra long wait. I’d definitely return, but on a less crowded night.
Delicious paella and tapas, plus live Flamenco guitar, singing, and dancing. The Napoleon verduras and fried artichoke hearts were delicious vegetarian options, and the octopus was great for the meat-eaters. The paella is oilier than I've had before, but the rice gets crispy and caramelized because of it (the restaurant's namesake).
Food (tapas only) was prepared with fresh ingredients and served one after another in proper time and order. Good wine list but a bit pricey.
Great atmosphere! Paella was good, but surprisingly small portion for the price. Awesome, authentic live Flamenco music on Tuesday night, which was a real treat. Would come back, for special occasions.
Very pricey for this style of food. I paid $200 for dinner of 2. We had the seafood patella, well I'm comparing this one to the paellas I had in Spain and it doesn't match up to the one in spain of course. But it's not even close. Their tappas are delicious, especially the octopus but again The tappas are ~$20 for little food. The venue looks great. The noise level is crazy loud, not the music but everyone was shouting. Over all I give good rating because of the tappas and the way the venue looks like.
Good attentive service. Disappointing food. Under-seasoned over cooked paella.
The tapas appetizers were very good.
Food poorly seasoned. Service inattentive at best rude at worst.
Always a pleasure. The food & sangria were fantastic. Very warm & inviting space. I will be back for sure.
Paella rice was exceptional. The meat was on the dry side. Appetizers (grilled squid and tortilla) were very good. People were super nice!
My friends and I came here for our annual Christmas dinner. We had a few orders of tapas. Potatoes, chorizo and octopus were delicious! We ordered 3 paellas. Carne with mushrooms, carne and seafood. They were all delicious and we would highly recommend and go back!
Great food but a little pricey.
Had flamingo dancing
Superb lobster paella. Excellent service. Very good wine and cava. Fantastic musicians
Great vibe for friends gathering. Server is nice. Paella took a bit long but we expected. Good tip is to order it first while ordering drinks. Good experience overall. Not the first time but haven't been back for awhile. There is reason they are still around :D
Excellent Spanish food, great location
First time to try Spanish food. It’s delicious and over-expected. I will come back
Birthday! One of the most fabulous hidden gems in NYC!
Service was welcoming, friendly, and the food excellent. We will definitely be back. Note: they have music on Tuesdays which, while very good, precludes conversation.
