Socarrat Paella Bar - Midtown East
Socarrat, the quintessence of the perfect paella and for which the restaurant is named, is the delectable, sensuous crust that forms on the bottom of the paella pan when the liquid is rendered and the rice reaches its peak of succulence. The menu, an authentic array of delicious dishes from the regions of Spain specializing in traditional tapas with an accent on paella and fideua (which substitutes fried noodles for rice) that can be characterized as a true exploration for the palette.
Our Midtown location, the most recent addition to the Socarrat family, displays a lively atmosphere that is perfect for small and big groups alike. Book your next party in our private dining room!

My second time there and the food was delicious and the service was great!
Food is delicious, service outstanding, atmosphere very comfortable and friendly.
Food was delicious. We went for Brunch. The server was very nice. However, the kitchen needs help. They didn't cook the eggs the way they were requested and they also served the wrong brunch order for one of our party and she had to wait another 15 minutes for them to first make what she had ordered.
Great little spot for an intimate friends’ dinner. Ordered anchovies which were amazing, however, the paella was very under-seasoned. Drinks were good and ambiance was inviting.
Outdoor seating was pleasant all thing considered. Would recommend.
Excellent. Service couldn’t do enough for you.
The food and service were absolutely outstanding!
I love it here.
Great experience! Delicious food
We came in for dinner!! We ordered tapas, and a paella!! Every thing was amazing!!! We eat at a lot of Tapas restaurants, but have to say this was great!! We will be back again!! Owner stopped over to talk with us then sat with us!! So nice!!
Easter dinner with one of my oldest friends and my mom- tapas, we shared 6 things and it was not only exquisitely prepared, but everything came out fresh and rolled out in batches! A memorable meal, to which I will return to try the veggie paella (I’m not such a shellfish fan...yet!). Our host was Italian, charming, and the service was efficient and warm. Thanks for a great evening, Socarrat!
Food was excellent. Had tapas during happy hour, which were half price. It was tapas heaven! All safety measures were in place, with lots of space and plastic dividers between tables. Had a great meal and would definitely go back!
Manager and owner (I believe that’s who they were) should wear masks all the time. One of them had a bandanna that kept falling off his face and behind the bar he did not have it on at all. That was So unprofessional during a pandemic
Service was courteous and pleasant at all times. The black rice paella did not disappoint. The croquetas were just delicious.
As always, great food beautifully prepared!! Have introduced my friends and family to this place.
Came here to celebrate my friend’s birthday, brought the kids too and everyone had a pleasant time. We were seated in the patio and felt safe! The paella is delicious and the sangria and churros are a must. Very friendly staff and had a nice evening!
Delicious paella and waiter was super nice!
The paella wonderfully reminiscent of seaside Barcelona dining in pre-COVID times.
Great first time experience! Visiting from San Francisco. The first weekend sans reopening indoor dining. The service was impeccable and the paella was phenomenal. The only thing better was dining with my sister who lives here! Haven’t been able to visit in a while.
It was a very enjoyable nite out. Food was great. Good sangria
Delicious food portions are smaller than most restaurants now but the portion size was perfect for no leftovers. Waiter was very attentive had the Bottomless mimosas and never had to ask for refill,, They just kept refilling
Fantastic brunch foods along with some favorite tapas
Great food. Friendly. Accommodating. Covid protocols adhered to.
Excellent persil, pulpo, and brussel sprouts!! Highly recommended!
I believe they were short staffed so the service was slow. The food excellent. We had hoped to end with a coffee but could not as one of our party had to catch a train. The cocktails and port/ sherry were amazing. Shrimp were a little over done. If you have a reservation ask for a table away from the door we froze someone walked in which also made a wonderful paella cold before we could it all. Leftovers should be good. I would go here again but would request seating away from the door.
well, we were very disappointed having read a lot of good things about it - the outside 'patio' was not very attractive - thugh there were very few people, the service could be slow - asked for salt and had to wait though the food sorely needed it - my friend salts without tasting - i salt only after tasting and then only if necessary - yesterday we were in the same boat - the food was basically tasteless exept for the chorizo which is hard to ruin - the bread was terrible - the food can't hold a candle to Boqueria which i have returned to more than once in different locations - would not return to Socorrat - maybe the food is better at dinner - i had the cazuela de mariscos - the sauce was thin and tasteless - brought the dish home so that i can make it more flavorful
Best Paella and Tapas Bar in NYC. I've been visiting Socarrat since 2013, specifically the one located at Midtown East on 2nd Ave. All paellas and Tapas are very colorful and deliciously tasteful. Mr Lolo, the Owner, is a great host and very attentive.
The indoor dining was great and the ambience was cozy. Great service, especially on the menu recommendations!
We had a lovely time at Soccarat and the paella was great! Highly recommend!
Delicious! Service was great. Drinks were good too!
Wonderful paella and wine list. The tapas are always flavorful. It is one of our favorites.
Worst experience of my life. Do not waste your time going to this restaurant. I am not sure how you can enjoy tasteless food. We had ordered the Valentines Special menu, the Lobster Seafood Paella had no flavor, the lobster tasted as though it was boiled and frozen, the scallops had no seasoning. That too at the end of the night I had asked the server to kindly pack my food to go which was not returned to me as is a standard practice. I paid my bill and left a 20% tip on top of everything that was wrong with the night for me. I got up from the small table I was sitting at with my Wife to walk in and asked for my food that was to be packed to take home. I had requested the hostess to confirm that the bag I had was my food, she said yes it was. Today February 15 2021 I opened up the container and the food inside was definitely not mine. It had a sausage paella of some sort with half a Shrimp head and a whole Shrimp. Today when I called the restaurant, the manager Name Paolo (so he says) first refused stating he did not need to give me his name. Then he started accusing me that I left the restaurant and returned half a hour later. Non of this was true. Finally didn't even bother apologizing, then asked what would you like me to do? I openly stated you tell me what you think you should do. Finally Paolo(Manager) said the paella is a minimum of two people what do you want to do? I told him I had half a Paella left with a Lobster and Claw so make me what is missing. His Attitude has definitely made me write this review more so now. Do not waste your time going here, even during Covid times you think people would be more appreciative to the business instead of the attitude. I am not a frugal person and could care less about the leftovers, it is now more of how the manager handled himself on the phone. Very annoyed.
Place was good. The ambiance did not seem to be particularly Spanish. The food was tasty, although not spectacular. Service was a bit slow, maybe due to Covid. Would come back for casual dinner and tapas.
Very good brunch spot. We sat on the upstairs balcony and they were gracious and very polite. Food was delicious, I loved the datiles. Would definitely come again.
Loved the place. Great food and even greater service!
Seafood Paella was amazing! Would definitely recommend and will go back soon!
The dinner menu was not very extensive and the portion sizes were very small for the price. There was not enough vegetable options or vegan dishes.
Everything was so good! We had so many tapas and everything was very fairly priced! Great service and amazing quality food!
Went for my boyfriend's birthday. We had made a reservation which was great because the place was thriving that Saturday night. The seats are well spaced with adequate heating, all of the food was tasty and the service was attentive. Would definitely go back to try more variations of paella!
Love it! So warm and such amazing food and service.
Wonderful outdoor dining spot, excellent sangria! Can’t wait to go back.
