Socarrat, the quintessence of the perfect paella and for which the restaurant is named, is the delectable, sensuous crust that forms on the bottom of the paella pan when the liquid is rendered and the rice reaches its peak of succulence. The menu, an authentic array of delicious dishes from the regions of Spain specializing in traditional tapas with an accent on paella and fideua (which substitutes fried noodles for rice) that can be characterized as a true exploration for the palette.

Huge surprise that Socarrat had happy hour pricing on a Sunday! My companion has developed issues with tomatoes so I was disappointed to not get some paella (I’ve had it at Socarrat’s on a previous occasion and it’s awesome) but the octopus croquettes were out of this world. Also kudos for bacon wrapped dates and the lamb was delicious as well. The espresso martini for dessert was delicious. Definitely worth another visit on my next trip to New York

Our group ordered several different tapas, a paella, and two desserts. Every single item was delicious - not a weak dish in the bunch. Note: we were seated in the upstairs porch area, which felt semi-private and provided a nice ambience. All of us agreed we're looking forward to eating here again!

I enjoy the food offerings at Socarrat. However, the lamb chops were fatty. Also, the restaurant is VERY noisy. They kept the front door open (mild weather day) and the constant ambulance siren blares were most annoying (because it's located on 2nd Ave.) If the restaurant was located on a side street, the noise would probably not be a factor. That said, I do like this restaurant. Food is generally quite good; service is excellent. The flan is superb! I'll most likely eat here only in the dead of winter, when the front door will (hopefully) be closed.

An early reservation guaranteed a quiet dinner, excellent and friendly service, and a fine birthday celebration. Paella was first class and the half dozen tapas were tasty and generously sized. This is a fun, casual restaurant that knows its cuisine and clientele very well. Highly recommend.

Beware! We ordered to go chorizo croquettes (they were not offered during our dinner) once we got to the hotel they had sneaked 3 spinach in the order. I really hope it was a mistake because that pettiness is uncalled for. Shame on them! Rest of the food was good nothing extraordinary.

If you have food allergies, beware. They fry everything in the same oil so there is cross contamination between everything that’s fried + nuts. That is not listed on the menu and waiter probably won’t warn you until you press them and ask them to go back to the kitchen. Other than that it’s a relaxed vibe good for a casually evening.

The paella was burnt, not much seafood or chorizo. Starters of gazpacho and Brussels sprouts were good. Dessert if churos- They were cold and the chocolates sauce was thin. Need to go to Spain to see what is should be! Service was very good

Reservations at 5pm Sat 7/30/22 Never told it was still Happy Hour!! Limited drink menu even though I was willing to pay normal price and we were the only patrons in the place! Paella was stuck to the bottom of pan WITH THE WAITER HAD TO SCRAPE THE PAN FOR US!! and chicken was sparce with bones Fish was slimy!! Happy HOUR BEER WAS HORIIBLE TRIED BOTH!! OVERALL TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! NO GRATUTIY LEFT DUE TO POOR FOOD/SERVICE!!!

Portions have reduced more than half (steak and eggs) yet they’re still charging customers the full price. The steak wasn’t even the size of my palm last time.fill food is good but this is theft. Sorry! I’ve been a long time customer but this is silly.

Paella was true to high expectation in terms of taste and quality. Ambiance was cozy and ideal for date night. Tapas were not very good value but added color to our conversation.
