Socarrat Paella Bar - Midtown East
Socarrat, the quintessence of the perfect paella and for which the restaurant is named, is the delectable, sensuous crust that forms on the bottom of the paella pan when the liquid is rendered and the rice reaches its peak of succulence. The menu, an authentic array of delicious dishes from the regions of Spain specializing in traditional tapas with an accent on paella and fideua (which substitutes fried noodles for rice) that can be characterized as a true exploration for the palette.
Our Midtown location, the most recent addition to the Socarrat family, displays a lively atmosphere that is perfect for small and big groups alike. Book your next party in our private dining room!

Service was superb.
Unfortunately, we were placed on an unpleasant high table which was small and not conducive to a good environment due to its location and amount of people traffic to which we were subjected.
Food is amazing! Staff is super fun and friendly. Loved it all!
The paella (black rice one) did not blow me away.
Loud inside so we ate outside given the good weather. Nice to sit out there but I think the wait staff sometimes forgot about us. Great food and big portions.
Great upbeat environment. Yummy fried artichokes.
Paella is always perfect! We travel from
out of state to eat at Socarrat, never fails, always great!
Was excited to try, but everything was just ok - nothing great - service ok. food was ok, aps were better than the paella, which i would say not good. churros were terrible. and the bill was high almost $100 a person with little drinking. - not great.
Good service from wait staff. But was told by check in that our table “was given away” since we were 15 min late while the restaurant was half empty. Was then asked to sit at high chair bar stool 2-top table. Puzzling.
We had dinner before a show and it was very good. The service is excellent, the menu is interesting, good selection of Spanish wine. The lamb shank was excellent.
First time to NYC. Great atmosphere and great food
Our favorite meal in NYC (and there were pleany of good ones). Highlights were the dátiles tapas (could keep eating them all day) and the carne paella plus shrimp (which was our best paella ever, perfect crusting and flavours). Service was attentive, well paced and friendly.
It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The food was spectacular and the service impeccable. Our bus boy was the star. Wish we got his name. I asked for a recluse area so we can chat and enjoy our meal and that’s what we got and with no attitude. We were all so impressed that we will definitely be back. We had plenty of Tapas, Sangria and desserts. Amazing!!! Thank you everyone it was wonderful.
This is the place to go to for delicious paella. The seafood paella is superb.
I love their menu option for lunch under $50. Sangria, soup and a tostada!
I wish they could allow to switch the sangria for a house wine for a change...
This is a neighborhood place for my friend and me, and the wait staff knows us by now. They are always so friendly and treat us really well!
We enjoyed the hospitality and the tapas.
Paella was dry and not what we consider a good one.
Good but paella was overcooked and we didn’t want to wait to have it made again
Love it here ! Great paella and sangria !
Brunch with dad. Food was amazing. Paella was ok, but the bottomless mimosas were excellent.
Service was slow and my main dish was salty. Appetizers were good though.
Very dry and bland paella, over cooked shellfish was almost inedible. Extremely overrated and over priced.
Went to Socarrat for an anniversary, and it sure did not disappoint. Great atmosphere and better food. While nothing quite replicates food in Spain itself, Socarrat gets admirably close. I’d say it is a little pricier than what i’d normally pay going out for dinner, but perfect for any semi-special occasions or when you have company in town!
This place is overrated. The food was mediocre, the food is overpriced, and the service was poor. Too many errors with our order and there was paella on the floor in a couple of places when I walked in. It was loud and chaotic. I was not impressed. Find another place for paella.
Delicious food, yummy sangria. Great vibes overall!
Excellent food and service! Melissa is the best!!!
Nice neighborhood feel, with attentive easy service and good food.
The food is great! The carne paella was super flavorful and well cooked! We will be back
My friend and I were craving something different than our normal Irish Pub/Burger type of dinner, so I chose Socarrat. I was craving a good Paella. The place is small, but cozy, and the servers, hosts, and bartenders are all very friendly. We went with a couple of Tapas dishes to start, which were excellent. And the Seafood Paella. The Paella was good, but it did not knock my socks off, as I hoped it would. Don't get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with it, but maybe my hopes were too high, as I was really wanting more flavor in the rice. Nevertheless I did enjoy the meal, the waiter was excellent and helpful, and I will not hesitate to go here again.
The service was outstanding!! They went the extra mile and a half to ensure that the person at the table with a food allergy felt safe.....AMAZING!!
Excellent service and very friendly staff. The food was great.
Had dinner during restaurant week. For $42 apiece, my wife and I shared two appetizers, a pan of Paella, and two desserts. The bacon wrapped dates were fantastic, although we were only given 3 pieces. The Napoleon vegetable appetizer was a pass, not bad, not good. We really loved the Socarrat paella dish which had full shrimp, other fish, chicken, etc. The rice is cooked so that it sticks to the pan which gives it a unique taste. It may be a bit overdone for some, but we found it to be really delicious. The waiter actually scrapped the bottom of the pan for me, so that I could enjoy the whole experience. The flan and churros with chocolate were delicious but very small. On the whole is was a very nice experience.
Best Paella in town 🇪🇸
In this very competitive and challenging business, consistency is always the key. Tonight they were off their game, despite this disappointment, we will return to ensure it was just a hiccup
we order the paella, my family is from Spain, and the paella looks more like a Risotto than a paella.
great service, nice place.
Best paella in town. Do not miss it! It is normal to have noise in a genuine Spanish environment. Enjoy it. Remember that the "socarrat" is the scrapings of the crunchy rice sticking to the pan. Delicious!
Great dinner - get the house special palella!
Great place with a Spanish style, music, food ... it was totally awesome. I will eat again there.
