I found Soccorat last summer when I needed a place to eat before a show at the Joyce. I loved it so much, I could t wait to come back. Since I live in Texas, I had to wait a while. It was worth the wait!!!
Excellent tapas and seafood paella. Great service and amazing waiter.
Staff was friendly and the ambiance is pleasant, but I ordered the Gambas and Squid Ink Paella (their specialty) and the shrimp in both dishes were so rubbery and overcooked, it made what could've been great dishes less than mediocre. Flavor in the paella was spot on though.
Way overpriced! A single croqueta costs $3! Skip tasting board of cheese and Spanish ham and chorizo - it’s poor quality and doesn’t do justice to what they really taste like.
Went there with my family. Everyone enjoyed the black paella. The lobster paella was good but a little overdone. The date appetizer was incredible.
Always delicious paella and sangria.
Classic Paella prepared in cooper pans
The food was very good but the only reason for a 3 star than 4 or 5 is because of the extremely small paella portions that costs min. $52 for 2 people. I am a petit woman but I believe I could have easily finished 2 servings alone.
Other than that, food was definitely good - octopus is fantastic as well.
For those with bad backs, reconsider though, as they only have high-top seating which is noted on Opentable.
This is a really fun place to meet. The high top tables are very comfortable. Waiter was very helpful and efficient. We had the squid ink paella and it was wonderful. The wine we ordered was recommended by the people sitting next to us and it was very reasonable and delicious. Overall, a great experience. This restaurant is good for everything from a friends get together to a first date to a special celebration. Enjoy!
Great place. I only wish I could remember our servers name, he was very attentive.
Great food, amazing restaurant. The seating is a little tight though.
Great food, service and music
I am a bit of a regular
Good Food.Awesome Sangrias. But the stool seating is hard on your bck.Think they need to change there chairs. Its nice chic spot.
I've for the Paella before if you like the crisp crunchy bottom of the Paella you will love it , Friday night we went for Happy Hour at the bar because of limited time . The bartender was lovely very quick in getting orders and bevarges. We ate so much my favorite the beef cheek that the bartender recommended was amazing we had around ten tapas plates between 3 of us, also the figs stuffed with cheese heaven, Will have to go back for happy hour again price wise was amazing
We went to Socarrat for a Restaurant Week lunch. The restaurant is not very comfortable - shared tables, with backless stools. Unfortunately we shared a table with a party of three men whose lunch was mostly liquid, and who got louder as the afternoon wore on. The food was quite good - lovely croquetas, delicious gambas al ajillo. The paella special was perfect. One entrée was a miss - a soupy rice with vegetables, that had a lovely saffron flavor, but was mostly just dull. Flan and churros were a fun way to end the meal. I would have enjoyed the meal more had I been a party of 2, at my own table, or a party of 6, precluding the need to share a table with strangers at very close quarters.
The carne paella was too salty yet the tapas we ordered was wonderful. I absolutely try to write bad reviews yet it was very noisy the speakers were a bit loud where i sat and I couldn’t hear most of what my friend was saying. A coworker had recommended the place but I didn’t have the most wonderful experience. However... I did enjoy the sangria. Yum!
Loved Socarrat! Great tapas selection! We went during Restaurant Week and sampled a variety of items - each better than the other. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing or intrusive. The courses were served in a leisurely pace; we didn't feel rushed, nor were we lingering. The zarzuelo contained so many yummy seafood selections, and the soupy paella was a tasy vegetarian offering. A lovely little place; plan to visit soon.
Everything was great. The garlic shrimp as well as the Sangria were amazing!
I'm Hispanic and have been to Spain, but this paella was definitely the best I've ever had! So were the churros
We went to this restaurant as part of NYC restaurant week and to catch up with a friend. The food was really good and so was the atmosphere. Good paella.
Great spot. Amazing paella, tacos, desert and drinks. Will definitely go again.
First time there we loved it !
Will go back for sure
We chose this restaurant as a "Restaurant Week" selection. It is small and cozy. The hostesses are friendly and inviting. The menu is excellent. There was a choice of several appetizers, paellas, and desserts. The drink menu is substantial for both alcoholic and non alcohol drinks. The portion sizes were great. The food was beautifully prepared and great tasting. The service is outstanding. I highly recommend Socarrat for an outstanding dining experience.
Too loud. Too little space
Food was good
Bar stools uncomfortable
Host/hostess/server did not offer to take our coats when we were being seated but did offer it to the other party when they arrived an hour after us-didn’t like that
Would go back but probably to a different Socarrat location
Love the paella de Socarrat, and the tapas are fantastic. Just know that everyone had to be present in order for the party to be seated.
All I can say is I can’t wait to return to try some of the other items on the menu . The food was so delicious. And the portions are perfect . I loved the service as well . Very attentive and very welcoming .
the appetizers were the best part of the prix fix restaurant week lunch menu.
Would go there with friends and just order apps!
Excellent tapas! The paella was good (nothing noteworthy) but the tapas were incredible!
Service was great.
Wasn't impressed with the paella. The seafood on the paella was definitely frozen seafood.
Delicious paella served up in a lovely atmosphere. Tapas are equally delicious. A bit pricey so be prepared to pay for it!
Flavorful dishes with great service. Get the white anchovies and the bacon wrapped dates. I didn’t love the communal tables and the stools, but the table became a non-issue after a few minutes. The stools … not that comfortable. Still, excellent restaurant and I will come back.
I ate here during Restaurant Week, and their was really good. The paella was absolutely delicious.
Good food, good service, terribly uncomfortable seating
Hostess was terrible but everything else was great.
They only have bar stools with no backs. Please get barstools with backs. Its very uncomfortable to sit for an hour or more with no back.
Great places for meeting friends. Great ambiance and good food with huge portions!
Amazing food and service! 10/10, definitely will go back!
While the food was excellent, i would not recommend this restaurant. The drinks, wine and sangria were so small and not worth it. Upon viewing those drinking at the bar, we noticed much larger pours. I may have overlooked this as well as the uncomfortable bar chairs at all tables. had the maitre d not asked us to leave to make room for others. We were 4 people and spent almost $400 in 1 1/2 hours. I thought that so rude, he could have offered us to go to the bar or some other nicety . again- this is not what i would have expected. i did email the restuarant and did not get a response
