Socarrat Paella Bar - Chelsea
Socarrat, the quintessence of the perfect paella and for which the restaurant is named, is the delectable, sensuous crust that forms on the bottom of the paella pan when the liquid is rendered and the rice reaches its peak of succulence. The menu, an authentic array of delicious dishes from the regions of Spain specializing in traditional tapas with an accent on paella and fideua (which substitutes fried noodles for rice) that can be characterized as a true exploration for the palette.

The absolute best paella! Staff is very very good.
This place is great, food was delicious, friendly service and perfect ambiance ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Food was great but a bit too pricey for what it actually is.
We very greeted and promptly seated. Had the octopus and tuna appetizers. Both very tasty and delicious. We shared the Negron Paella. The best we have ever had. The flan was nice way to end. We will be back for sure.
amazing dining experience
Delicious Thanksgiving dinner of turkey paella. Great service and a reasonable price for the holiday. Highly recommended.
Wonderful good. Innovative cooking, great service. It was a delightful way to spend Thanksgiving. We will return.
as always Eduardo and team took impeccable care of us. food was amazing as expected.
A big bit of Barcelona on West 19th Street. Outstanding in every way. Our waiter was a Valencian who charmed the ladies and won their spouses's respect. The backyard outside garden is special.
Amazing and really great staff
Great food! A lot of different options. and fantastic service!
Outdoor dining also has heating, and it is quite cozy.
Service was excellent!
attentive staff, came to table many times to inquire on drinks, food order and if we were enjoying ourselves. As with most restaurants when u give an honest answer on the food " I will let the kitchen know " is the standard answer. as a table of 4 we ordered 2 different paellas, Soccarat was excellent but the Carne was undercooked as it was very wet and mushy and did not have the crisp rice bottom(no need to scrape or even fight to scoop out the paella to serve-no crunch at all) when told to the manager type who approached out table - we got a standard response as above.
So not sure we would go back to this particular Soccarat
Loved the food and the vibe
Very pleasant surprise. Tapas plates were all wonderful, had the anchovies, sardines, shishito peppers and the octopus. All delicious. Also had the lamp chop paella. Wonderful flavor and loved the way it was crisped.
Best service, from the host, the server, the bartender and the manager. Great food. Best Socarrat in town.
Waiter was rude and killed the vibe. Would not recommend This location, Go to the midtown one!
Great experience and food. Just what we were looking for in a tapas restaurant. Also the red sangria was super delicious!
Way too overpriced for what we paid and not great service. Not worth the money. Undercooked rice.
Always the best and most reliable
Great food, wonderful atmosphere, impeccable service!
Great outdoor setup
Both food and service are outstanding!
We just got back from a trip to Spain so we decided we needed more Paella. It was the best Paella we have ever had. We were in Spain for 2 weeks and ate it almost every day. The rest of the Topes were also amazing. We live in DC but will not skip Socarrat Paella bar when ever we are in NYC.
Great place for dinner after New York Live Arts or Joyce Theater performances. We had white anchovies and grape tomatoes as a nibble, and then a spectacular paella with chicken, chorizo, shrimp, mussels, clams and fish. The rice was perfect, including a layer of rice browned and stuck to the paella pan which the waiter scraped off for us. Caution: you have two order at least two person's portions of paella. We had an order of churros and chocolate sauce, and a good white alberino. A perfect meal. We sat out in the covered garden, which was shielded from the rain and had a heater over the table - so I suspect the garden will work all winter long.
Wonderful service and staff ! Exceptional experience my husband and I would return again…. Food was amazing experience and paella was delicious. As a former resident of Spain I love all foods from the Iberian peninsula …
Lovely meal and very attentive staff. It was my twin sister and my birthday and they took time to give us extra care and recognition with a special dessert!
We decided just to eat various tapas, all seven of which were excellent. In particular, the fried artichokes, the mussels and chorizo, and the octopus. Good service and a really nice atmosphere - will definitely go back.
The food was absolutely amazing and staff was great!
Lovely spot! Food was delicious and the staff were very attentive! Highly recommend for a cute date spot, or probably good for groups as well. The street is quiet, so makes for an intimate occasion.
Food was terrific and the service was great. They have a really nice outdoor patio with a plastic roof over it and heat lamps if it’s cold. We came for a birthday, and we would go again!
Never disappoints. they take care of their guests very well and the food continues to be delicious and authentic.
The restaurant is warm and cozy inside and has a welcoming back patio, the waiters are Spanish and are friendly and professional. A good "date night" place. Two things bothered me- First the waiter really pushed us to over-order from the get-go. We had already told him we would have the seafood Paella dish, which is almost 60 dollars per couple, and he told us we should definitely still order at least two sides (tappas) dishes on top of that... so we did get one, and as I suspected at the end the Paella dish was plenty of food all on its own. The second was the Paella itself. It came as pre-cooked rice in the iron skillet pan with the seafood pieces (shrimp, mussels, cockles) just literally placed on top of the rice, not mixed in and cooked with it. I suppose this is to make it easy to serve the Paella rice with the different additives that they offer, but I can't imagine this dish being served this way at a real Spanish Paella restaurant. In my experience the seafood, etc is always mixed in the rice during cooking to finish it.
We sat in the Garden, because my friend forgot her Vax Proof and it was a bit noisy, but lovely. The food was fantastic as always!
Appetisers were good and came in a promptly manner. The croquettes and brussel sprouts were delicious. The paella, however, was burnt, and tasted burnt. Understandably, socarrat should be a little stickier and overcooked than regular paella, but it should not taste burnt. The churros were also very underwhelming. Service was okay - the waiters were attentive and friendly, but sometimes a bit slow, which was weird considering the place wasn’t full.
Food were excellent, we had one of the best paella, comparable to the paella we had in Spain. Very good services, however, the price was on the higher side, compare to many other restaurants serving Spanish cuisine.
Everything was on-point. Great table, food was delicious, our waiter was attentive and very hospitable and we had an amazing time. Missed this spot. We’ll be back.
