Socarrat, the quintessence of the perfect paella and for which the restaurant is named, is the delectable, sensuous crust that forms on the bottom of the paella pan when the liquid is rendered and the rice reaches its peak of succulence. The menu, an authentic array of delicious dishes from the regions of Spain specializing in traditional tapas with an accent on paella and fideua (which substitutes fried noodles for rice) that can be characterized as a true exploration for the palette.

There were 4 of us. We met at the bar for Happy Hour cocktails and tapas. Great bartender. All the tapas on the menu except the lamb chops and Tuna were available for the 50% off. We had the chorizo. the calamari, the octopus snd the Brussel sprouts. All tasty. There was a nice selection of cocktails and wine on the HH menu. We then went to the Garden fir dinner. We order the short ribs paella and our friends ordered the Socarrat paella. Both were good though the shrimp and the short ribs were slightly overdone. The flavor on both was very tasty. We will definitely go back to try some of the other paella’s.

From the warm welcome we received from Mila as she guided us to our table in the beautiful back patio area of the restaurant to the final bite of our delicious dessert, our evening at Socarret was perfect. We chose to have four tapas, a pitcher of red sangria, and the brioche dessert … everything was outstanding. The waitstaff was welcoming, interesting, and attentive. This is a 5 star NYC establishment.

Never need to visit here again! I was told the paella is supposed to be that dry and crunchy but not like I've had in Espanola. Much prefer a main dish and this on the side. Not much shrimp or seafood on top of the charred rice. Yuk. At least the starters of Brussels and short rib was tasty albeit small plate but BIG price.

The outdoor patio area was a great choice as the weather was on the warm side. The hostess was pleasant and took us straight to our table. Service overall was attentive and informative. The food was disappointing. Appetizers were ok. Fried artichoke wasn’t fried but it was tasty. The tomato bread was tasty. The croquettes were tasty. Sangria (white) was very diluted and super super sweet. Switched to red which was better but still watery. Paella….. this is what we came for but it was disappointing. At around $30.00 per person the ingredients were scarce. Flavors were not infused and the crunch was barely there. We had the signature and carne options. Price for 4 was around 350. ☹️

We went there yesterday night and we were very disappointed by the food. We had the fish & seafood paella and there was no taste at all, the scallops shrimps and rest of the seafood was added at the end with no taste at all… The churros weren’t freshly baked and also only 2 pieces for 9$ !!!! Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to real Spanish people like us otherwise you will be very disappointed:-(

I had an outside reservation that I had made about a month ago. It turned out to be a 20 degree night and there was no way we could have eaten outside. The staff found my husband and I a table inside. Service was fantastic and the food was amazing.
