About Socarrat - Chelsea
Socarrat Paella Bars ambiance denotes feelings of warmth, comfort and hospitality. A neighborhood staple with a small, intimate space comprised primarily of one large communal table with bar and smaller communal tables available.
**Please note that all of our tables at the Chelsea location are high tops and our chairs are without backs.**
Socarrat, the quintessence of the perfect paella and for which the restaurant is named, is the delectable, sensuous crust that forms on the
bottom of the paella pan when the liquid is rendered and the rice reaches its peak of succulence. The menu, an authentic array of delicious dishes from the regions of Spain specializing in traditional tapas with an accent
on paella and fideua (which substitutes fried noodles for rice) that can be characterized as a true exploration for the palette.
Socarrat also offers two dozen tapas, wines by the glass, Spanish desserts, and the best sangria in the city.

Socarrat - Chelsea Ratings and Reviews
This was a quaint restaurant. I loved the decor, especially with the simple Christmas lights. All the tables were high tops which I liked, but not conducive for a person with a physical disability.
The service was excellent. There was a huge selection of wines and tapas and paella. The meal was fabulous. We also had Sangria, which was the best I’ve had in years.
I highly recommend the restaurant.
A fun tapas/paella place with very nice service. I've had better ( more authentic) paella, but the tapas dishes were all delicious and the sangria was tasty. Nice Saturday night ambiance - although tables in rear could use a little more lighting and sitting on stools presents a problem for women ( or anyone) with a bag - nowhere to hang them!
Squid ink paella is the best! I eat at Chelsea location about once a month and service is pretty ok. Went today and stood there for awhile waiting for the host to acknowledge us, but she just continued her phone call and never looked up or told us to wait a moment.
Terrible attitude! My family asked if we could have a seat with better lighting, but the front desk woman rudely rejected. During the whole dining experience, the server didn't even show a smile. If this is not discrimination, I don't know what is. I won't come back to this location ever
Everything about Socarrat is INCREDIBLE. From the friendly, helpful staff to their delicious food (get some paella!!), our experience was EXCEPTIONAL. We will be spreading the good word about this restaurant to all––far and wide––and will certainly return here the next time we're in NYC!!
I made a reservation for 2. It was for 10:15 pm. When we arrived we were told no tables were available except a communal table with a large noisy party. We were given the option of sitting at the bar, which we did. We were told we would have to wait 40 minutes for paella, the dish we wanted, so we ordered tapas instead. The food was good but this was not the experience I wanted. I was particularly annoyed that a party with a reservation was not offered a table, especially at this late hour.
Restaurant came highly recommended by a friend but aside from service it was disappointing. Table was in back corner with one space of the two seats half eaten up by some utility pole/thermometer. Terrible table. It was also super cramped back here. Croquettes were good. Ahi appetizer, meh--a little more well done than I prefer but fine. Paella was bad and very overcooked. thankfully the rice covered up the bad taste. When we were nearly done, went to pick out the proteins and all were so overcooked but the shrimp was especially awful. I understand that this was likely a one-off poor preparation; however, with all of the great dining options, I wouldn't recommend or try a second time.
