so•ca derives it’s name from several sources: a Peruvian word for sugarcane, a popular style of Caribbean music, and inspiration from a well known geographical divider, the Tropic of Cancer. Located just north of the Equator, this line of latitude divides many countries around the world. so•ca centers its focus on the islands and Americas south of this geographical border (south of the tropic of cancer).
Located on the corner of Oberlin and Clark Ave, so•ca cocina latina brings the flavors of this region to Cameron Village where we share our exotic culinary story seven nights a week during dinner service and on the weekends during brunch. Many of the items on the so•ca menu allow diners to travel to these unfamiliar lands without needing to leave the comforts of the Triangle.
a refreshing flick of the wrist by so ca. really out here switchin up the Latin food game in Raleigh
Outstanding service, creative menu and affordable with both small plates and larger entrees all done in a very attractive decor.
Always have a great time at SOCA.
Love the scallops and the pods cheek
Great food, an original menu with a true Latin flavor. The Churrasco Steak was fantastic! The level of service was even better.
Excellent service, extremely knowledgeable about gluten free, food was outstanding, can't wait to return to try more of the wonderful selections
Great place with delicious food! We went there to celebrate our anniversary and it was really nice when they arrived with 2 glasses of champagne to celebrate us. Strongly reccomanded
Tasty food and friendly staff! Our hostess (who mainly works Tuesday’s) was warm and super friendly! Our server was courteous and knowledgeable. We had a really enjoyable dinner. Thanks Soca!
We enjoyed our meal from the appetizers to our dessert! Glad that we chose to celebrate Father's Day at so*ca.
Loved the empanadas, they were amazing. My husband had the ceviche and it was delicious. We really enjoyed it. Even on Father’s Day the service was still very good and the food outstanding. We will be back.
Excellent food, wide range of foods that are not artificially gluten-free, but authentically made with alternate ingredients from South/Central America, each a marvel of fine flavor and nice presentation. Each time I go there, and it is out of the way for me, I think I should go there more often. And that's just the food, the wait-staff is always well trained and attentive. I enjoyed the additional open-air dining they have added since my last visit, as it was a perfect Carolina day to be outside.
We are regulars at Soca. We went to brunch for Father’s Day and Soca did not disappoint. Each of our meals was very unique and delicious as well. The service was fantastic as always.
Usually attentive service. Food is always excellent with beautiful presentation. Great to sit outside when there is good weather.
NO.... I AM A FOODIE AND LIKE EXCEPTIONAL FOOD. WE TRIED DIFFERENT SMALL PLATES AND ALL BUT ONE FELT LIKE IT HAD COME OUT OF FREEZER & BEEN NUKED.... THOUGHT THIS PLACE WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE INNOVATIVE.
We sat on the patio which was great. Food and service were great.
4 of us shared 3 small plates and 3 entrees. Every dish was amazing! Our service was also outstanding.
The food and wine were excellent as was out waiter. We will definitely return soon.
The food is very delicious and the flavors are Wonderful. I would like to see more space and more heat in their dishes.
1st Strike - elevator from basement garage was not working so has to take steep steps in rain to the front entrance.
2nd Strike - The restaurant had a lot of empty tables in the front but we were still given a table near the kitchen which was very brightly lit and busy.
3rd Strike - my daughter had made the reservation as a birthday celebration but there was no acknowledgement from staff.
Lastly, food was just ok - portions pricier but smaller than other similar restaurants . Loved the food presentation though. Pricey cocktails sounded fabulous but tasted mediocre.
We had such high hopes as the concept sounded amazing - I hope they will
Improve and take the above notes as constructive criticism.
Almost perfect dining experience- went for a graduation party. Our starters, entrees and service were all amazing. The evening fell flat at dessert. We were sent the chocolate mousse for our daughters graduation which was tasty but small (but it was free so I’m not complaining too much, just wouldn’t have wanted to pay for it). We ordered a few desserts, including the tres leches and flan. The tres leches cake was nice but the components were off putting. And the flan was not like any flan I grew up eating, and not in a good way. Overall, we had a great time but their desserts need some tweaking.
I wish the tap water that was served did not smell like chlorine
We dined here to celebrate our daughter’s graduation. We were seated outside on the patio which was quite pleasant. The food was both creative and delicious. We’ll certainly go back.
This is the third time I've been to Soca and the experience is consistently wonderful. Great, creative food, lovely ambiance and good service. Each dish is a delightful surprise and the Caribbean rum cake was a taste sensation. Can't wait to return soon.
"THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!!!!! " I WILL BE DINING THERE FREQUENTLY.. THAT'S THE REAL DEAL!!!
This was our first time at Soca and what a wonderful experience it was! The food made our taste buds dance! The menu items were unique and every dish was so flavorful. The ambiance is very nice and the service was top notch. A must do!
The beef dishes are out of this world. My husband said half way through dinner "this is the best meal I've had in a while."
Great food, wine and staff. Every bite was amazing
The food was good but for the first time the service was poor I will try it again.
Loved SoCa. Good drinks, great food. South American with a bit of a French twist. And don’t be put off by the lack of parking, there’s valet parking in the back.
Had the special triangle week three course menu with wine. None of the dishes were especially good and the wines were ordinary. Goat was dry and stringy. Certainly not worth $65.
We went for a birthday celebration and triangle restaurant week. No one even mentioned the birthday. Service was pitiful barely anything said to us when we arrived. Usually
Restaurant week brings out a great menu. Appetizers were good however the Goat entree was tough, dry and void of flavor. The dark molasses cake dessert was dry, little flavor as well. The person that treated us made a remark about the last Restaurant in this spot was called fare and named properly. Well we ate at fare and went back will not be going back to SoCa.
This is really one of the very best restaurants in the triangle area. I am disappointed in myself for not trying it sooner. Samantha was also one of the top 5 servers I have ever had the pleasure to order with. I may sound hyperbolic but the Caribbean Curried Cod, Churrasco, meat patties, rum cake really were well worth the visit and I want to go back soon and try everything else on the menu. I want everyone to go so this place stays in business for a long time.
For all the hype and high prices, SoCa was a huge disappointment for me and my wife. We each ordered two items each from the appetizer side, one dessert, and two drinks each (beers and lemonade) and paid over $100, including a good tip for our good wait person. The empanadas and dumplings were really, really mediocre. Live up to the hype, decor, and excellent wait staff with the quality of the food served.
Went went to brunch for my daughter’s 25th birthday. The service was exceptional, the food creative, delicious, and beautifully presented without being too showy. The Videri Chocolate Moose was out of this world. Soca is now at the top my list for Sunday brunch in Raleigh.
Good food, even better service. We enjoyed our recent visit and were particularly impressed with staff tending to our young toddler (e.g., asking if we needed milk or fruit).
The food was absolutely amazing! The small plates are small, but every bite was delicious. I recommend the pork cheeks.
Great food, even better service.
