Sobo's Wine Beerstro Ratings and Reviews
This was our first visit. Food and service was pretty good. Interesting and delicious cheese board selections. Enjoyed the surf and turf pasta. Salmon entree was good also. The Smith Island layer cake was small for sharing but very delicious. A tavern type atmosphere. Will return.
this was a terrible dining experience. when I mad e reservations on Open Table I indicated it was for a birthday celebration. Our server was surly and inappropriate. We were seated and immediately she wanted our drink order. My husband ordered a “Yingling”, our friends ordered wine and a coke. I had it made up my mind. The drinks were brought and my husbands beer was not cold. He notified our server who picked up the beer and said “you don’t think this is cold.” Wrong, wrong, wrong. Obviously he didn’t didn’t or he would not have said it wasn’t cold. Her attitude was completely inappropriate. A lot of time passed and he still did not have a cold beer. I asked another server if she could help us. A few minutes later our server appeared with the same opened bottle of beer and said “we put this on ice and we chilled the glass.”
Same opened bottle of beer. Why would you not give him a new chilled bottled of Yingling. She then pressured us to order. Quite frankly we were so disgusted with her attitude, we placed a quick order. My impression was the food was overpriced and not very good.
I was really looking forward to a nice birthday celebration and Sobo’s did not deliver. They have lost four customers.
Sobo is my favorite restaurant in all of Maryland. The food is always fresh, creative and delicious. I took an out-of-town friend for dinner and we shared a medley of appetizers, which was more than enough for the meal - deconstructed ahi tuna roll, roasted Brussels sprouts with mandarin slices, Buffalo cauliflower and roasted beet salad. All were wonderful, but the beet salad was outstanding. It had all the flavors in one simple dish with a peppery bite from the arugula, the slight tang of the goat cheese, sweetness of the beets and acid of the light dressing. Our waitress was excellent. I highly recommend this gem.
Excellent service, very personable. Waitress was also excellent. Food was top notch although pricing was a little high. Ambiance and noise level co-exist. Although the overall ambiance was nice, it was so loud that you could not talk across the table. So Energetic translates to very loud.
The only negative was that I waited about 15 minutes to just get water - I had to get up and ask a server. And had to ask if they’d come and take my drink and appetizer order.
What was odd is that two servers were constantly in the small 5-10 table dining room. I kept trying to get their attention- it was like I was invisible. While I was waiting for a friend (who ended up not being able to come), I still shouldn’t have had to just sit there.
That said, from that point forward the staff was wonderful - friendly and attentive. The manager even came over to apologize, which was really appreciated.
Because my friend couldn’t make it - I ended up just having a drink and the crab dip. The dip was unbelievable - get it!
We were in town for A national dog shoe and just googled restaurants. The reviews looked great and could see the menu before. The staff was so nice, honored reservation on time, and Kayla, our server, was one the the best we have ever had. We go out a lot!. The good will be worth taking a three hour drive for in the near future!
Dining at Sobos is always a pleasant experience. Unlike other restaurants in the area, their menu changes with the seasons- in addition to daily specials. The wine selection is terrific, as are their cocktails. Be sure to try the watermelon cooler if you come in the summer: fabulous!
This was the first time we had been there in a while. My wife and I were disappointed. The food was ok but not worth the price charged. We had scallops. Three small scallops were on the plate. The price was $32! Hardly merited a cost of almost $11 per piece. The service was fair only. The waitress played with her hair almost constantly. Ambiance is average. It was quiet and allowed for conversation. The host was friendly enough. Overall, the experience wasn't worthwhile when there are many better restaurants a short drive away.
We brought my parents here for a small celebratory dinner. The food was phenomenal. I had the shrimp and crab scampi - the best pasta dish I have ever had - anywhere. My husband and step-father had steak (filet and ny strip special). Both raved about the quality. My mom had the salmon which also said was delicious. Our server was also outstanding - wish I could remember her name. We will be back soon!
I had the scallops---my all-time favorite! Accommodations were made due to my gluten-free diet, by substituting mashed potatoes for the pasta. Will you bring back the scallops with mashed and succotash in the fall? Food was great; wine was perfect!
My husband had rockfish (I think) over risotto. He was pleased with his dish also.
We like the idea of fresh veggies, fresh seafood, and organic food overall.
I have eaten at Sobos many times and have NEVER been disappointed. Their chef is very creative and the food is always out of this world. Sobos has "girls night out dinners" once a month to raise money for different organizations which are always a blast! Pairing foods and wines/cocktails. It can get kind of loud in the restaurant but the food is fantastic and the service is also outstanding. I really love this restaurant and would highly recommend it!
