Best birthday dinner ever!
My wife and I have been to many nice restaurants in Little Rock and decided to branch out and try SO hoping that their prices reflected what would be a good quality meal. While the wine was great, we were swarmed by flys throughout the meal. The bread appetizer was nothing special and tasted like $2 sliced bread from Sams Club with a little bit of garlic oil on the side. Filet had a decent presentation but the ENTIRE dish was EXTREMELY salty. My wife and I left the restaurant after finishing less than half of each steak and almost none of the mash potatoes or asparagus because it was all covered in salt. The steak was not worth the premium price and we have received way better quality steaks for a similar price and not dried out. Hope other items on the menu are better for others.
The food and flavors were fresh and inspiring. Our server, Alia, was awesome and gave wonderful suggestions. Enjoyed our evening in every way!
Fantastic food. Every dish was delicious! The crab stuffed mushroom was so tasty with a delicious creamed corn sauce. Then the swordfish with the bacon "slaw" on top was so unique and tasty. Also had the sumac chicken which had the most delicious sauce. absolutely yum, will be back again!
The chocolate dessert was beyond comparison.
Waiter was attentive, not overbearing, but seemed distracted. I gave him 4 stars because we asked for bread twice, a spoon for appetizer and a spoon for dessert.
We were celebrating my 72nd birthday. I’m probably being picky but when we pay $75.00 a plate, with no alcohol, I expect perfection.

We’ve been coming to SO every time we’ve visited Little Rock since 2008 (probably about 8 times total). This was, hands down, a completely different experience and the first time we thought it was nowhere near worth it. Started out with an incredibly watered down cocktail that tasted like nothing more than stale ice. Spent the majority of the meal shooing away flies and gnats from us. Entrees came and we’re nothing remarkable, but we literally laughed out loud when our $8 side of “Frits” came and it turned out to be exactly 10 soggy French fries that were most likely just frozen Ore-Ida. Got the chocolate sack for dessert and it was a poor impression of what it used to be with a single scoop of plain vanilla ice cream over cake that was made a month and a half ago and an overwhelmingly sour cherry compote on top. We were very excited for this trip to SO since it had been almost 5 years…we’ll never come again which is unfortunate.

We live in Dallas and always look forward to going to So when we are in Little Rock. A few days before we went we looked up the menu online. I was excited about having the duck and sharing the chocolate sack for dessert. Well, they didn't have either. I was disappointed but still managed to have an amazing meal with great service. The swordfish was moist and flaky, my husband's steak was good, and the seafood fondue was delicious. We skipped dessert.
We were very disappointed with our most recent trip to SO. There was only one highlight to the entire dinner which was the soup du jour of sundried tomato egg drop soup. It had wonderful flavor unlike the rest of our meal. The crab stuffed mushroom was good but nothing to write home about. The bone marrow was also good but the presentation was disappointing with only 4 small pieces of bread to accompany the half femur and a few random blueberries. We ordered extra bread but it never arrived despite being charged $3 for it. Our biggest disappointment of the evening was my husband's duck. It was some of the worst duck that we have ever had. It was overcooked, tough, and had no flavor. It was also very small at just 3 slices. My steak Regina was also completely lacking flavor. The Cajun bechamel was extremely bland and definitely not Cajun at all. The steak was cooked to the right temperature but that is the only postive thing that I can say about the dish. The overall experience was very disappointing and felt like a waste of money. We actually decided to leave and go somewhere else for dessert to avoid further disappointment.
Couldn't have been any better. We were seated and immediately greeted by our server, Brock. We ordered a couple of appetizers, entrees and a small desert. Everything was delicious and we got them in a very reasonable amount of time. The server continuously check on us. We left stuffed and happy. Plan to return many more times.
Go, if you haven’t already!!!! I was thinking as I walked up to the place, “uh oh…” and then I walked in and it’s like walking into a different world of sorts. There’s a calming kind of feel and you’re surrounded by beautiful stone and beams. I’m torn on my favorite part of the experience between the unbelievably excellent food and the outstanding service. My server was funny and kind and made me feel very welcome. She also helped with a recommendation when I was deciding between two dishes. For all that is good and right in the world, if you eat beef, try the filet!!!! I have traveled the world in the military and that filet is in my top three. The potato-carrot mash with the roasted asparagus was nestled beneath one of the most tender and perfectly cooked filets I’ve ever experienced. Will definitely return when I’m in Little Rock again. Thanks for a phenomenal experience. :)
My husband said his ribeye was one of the best he had eaten. Said it was better than either of the two steakhouses in town. Our server, William provided impeccable service!
I booked an early reservation requesting outdoor seating and I didn't realize there was only one outdoor table on the patio, but it was reserved for me. This is the main reason it was quiet since we were separate from all the other diners. Our waiter was excellent and the service was great! I ordered the giant prawn special for the day and it was delicious. I haven't been to SO Restaurant in many years and I was very happy with the evening.
The service was good, and the food arrived quickly. The portions are extremely small for the price.

The food quality and quantity was lacking for what you pay for! My husbands steak was very fatty and not a good quality cut of meat and At this price point we expected more. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants to celebrate special occasions and it has gone down hill. Hopefully it can make a comeback!
Considering the date, Mother's Day, and covid, the SO experience was wonderful. We were seated on the lower level, which is not posh, but intimate and pleasant. We had a cheese tray with our cocktails that we enjoyed, and then my adult son and I had the prawn entre, and my wife had the crispy duck. Both were excellent. Entrees are modest in size, which I appreciate. We certainly will return.

It’s a cute little restaurant, our server was great, but the food wasn’t so good, the portions were very small. It’s totally overpriced! I ordered the special of the day “scallops “ the server came back and told me they didn’t have any.... what kind of special of the day they are out of it? The food was very blend with no flavor. I asked for a cocktail menu they didn’t have any but the server said they had a full bar! I tried ordering 3 drinks and they didn’t have the stuff for it... so no it’s not a full bar, so I ended up getting a whisky sour. My drink was watered down and I could only taste the lime, my drink was also served in a water cup, what kind of full bar that charges you 12 dollars for a cocktail and serves in a water cup? As a appetizer I ordered the soup of the day, it was ok, it tasted like canned soup, so I asked for some cheese, note that they charged me $3 dollars for a side of cheese. I wont be coming back and I dont recommend to anyone, they don’t have half of the stuff that is on the menu, they are overpriced, small portions and no flavor to the food! I paid $220 for 3 entrees and 2 cocktails... crazy right? You should’ve seen the size of the portions! It’s smaller than a kids size! The lobster risotto was $63 dollars and it barley had any lobster... please don’t waste your money going there!
Sat downstairs. Not much atmosphere. Doors were open to outside (for COVID?) so place was freezing.
Waiter was great though, really fun and great suggestions from food and wine menu.
We have always loved this restaurant so we were quite shocked by the service, food, and prices (they have gone up). They were out of several things in the menu which was disappointing be the menu is not that large to begin with.
We had to ask for napkins and they were all out so they gave us cocktail napkins from the bar. We both had filets ($46) and they were served in what looked like a soup but was almost like a pot roast. It certainly wasn’t worth the price we paid in presentation or quality. It was so odd.
Our server was nice, but very unprofessional. She kept removing her mask to speak to us which seemed counter productive.
It was quite shocking because we have never experienced that at So before. We were very unsatisfied and won’t be going back for a long time.
Three of us went for a night together. The atmosphere was ok, but the music was like I was in a Jamaican restaurant., decorations didn’t match the portrayal, so it was hard to understand what kind of restaurant we were at. We ordered the seafood fondue as an appetizer which was pretty good. But the bread provided was not enough for the dish, so we were asked if we would like more bread. Of course we did, but we’re charged for it. The Cesar salad I received had a decent taste, but for $12 the size was smaller than what a small child size. One of the steaks we ordered at medium rare came out a bit dry, and honestly tasted like a grilled burger on the 4th of July, a little crispy and tasting like the grill cause Uncle Joe had a few too many. The peppered duck was decent, but reminded me of pork chops more than duck. For dessert we had the cheesecake and bread pudding. The cheesecake seemed like it was made by Chopped Junior contestant. Tasted ok, but was very gritty. The bread pudding had a good taste, but portion size was again way too small. The bartender however did a good job with the old fashion, and the other drinks we had. They were flavorful, but not missing the alcohol. Our waitress was very nice, but as service picked we didn’t see her as much. Overall, for the price paid I feel like we were way too far apart from what I spent to what I received. Like paying for a Porsche, but getting a rental Nissan Altima. This was our first time at the restaurant, and had heard a lot of hype and wanted to try it out. Unfortunately, I doubt we will return.
Not good. Made reservation on open table. Called to confirm and mailbox was full. It would have been so easy for SO to put on recording that they were closed due to weather to save us the 30 mike trip on a cold day to find them closed

The Good: Ambiance and friendly service. Wild game gumbo was delicious.
The Bad: Didn't have the wine we ordered and offered a replacement that was not of the same quality or taste. Food temperature of main course was luke warm.
The Ugly: The restaurant was freezing. The cheesecake was delicious but was the thinnest slice I've ever seen.
My wife and I had a Valentine's dinner on the 13th (Saturday). It was our first time at SO. The service was great and the food was excellent. It was a special occasion and a special menu so I expected it to be a little expensive, which it was. My only compliant was that I thought it was a little "Too" expensive. With two glasses of wine and one scotch, plus tip, the bill was over $300.00.
Chain restaurant quality food and diner style service. No COVID precautions taken- the waitress removed her mask to talk to us and sat us within 3 feet of another group.
The food quality, service, and ambiance would have been fine (outside of the COVID concerns) if I was expecting it and paying $40 for the 2 person meal. For $150 it was absolutely not good enough. The restaurant is a sham. They masquerade as a fine dining experience so they can over charge on sub par food. You’d get a much better experience at a Chili’s.
We sat in the front room with thee stone walls, which under normal circumstances probably would be fine. Since we are in this frigid zone for the next few weeks, it was very cold, so couldn’t enjoy the experience as much as we would have liked.
Everything else was wonderful, good dirty martini, the shrimp and crab fondue was amazing. I had the duck, done perfectly, my friend had the chicken and dumplings which she said was great.

It’s truly a shame that SO cannot get their act together after being such a great spot years ago. The evening was practically a repeat of the last time we tried it out a year ago... After being seated immediately in a half-empty restaurant in the back corner of the make-shift dining room (which is arguably the worst table in the restaurant as you are left staring at a street lamp) we ordered an appetizer .... 40 mins later this appetizer was delivered to the wrong table at which we were given an apology with the explanation it would most likely take another half hour to get an appetizer out to us. So in one hour no food was able to be set in front of us and we had not even ordered entrees... It was clear this evening was not going to get any better and we decided to just walk out. Prior to us doing that....the table next to us also walked out. We drove across town to our regular WLR steakhouse and had a table waiting and dinner finished within the hour...
The food and service were outstanding. The only complaint we had was that it was very cold in the front room where we were seated.
After years of writing positive reviews for the most part, it is sad that I have to write two in a row warning people to avoid an establishment. I'm also so tired of businesses blaming everything on covid
We have eaten at So many times. It has been a standard in Little Rock for years. Our last visit in July was marred by slow service but it wasn't awful.
Sat night on the otherhand, was horrid. We arrived early for our reservation to see only four tables occupied. We ordered wine and our food almost immediately. After two hours we had shared one appetizer and had our salads. When I asked the manager for a check so we could go elsewhere he was apologetic saying things were slow because there was a party of 23 downstairs and they were understaffed due to covid. I explained we had made the reservation weeks in advance and since he knew he had a party of 23 he needed to staff approriately or not accept reservations.
He then promised our entrees within 10 minutes. Thirty minutes later three of the four of us were served. My wifes entree cam about 15 minutes later now about 3 hours after we arrived. My medium rare steak was well done. Wifes medium steak was raw and the crab topping was as cold as when it came out of the refrigerator.
The manager offered to discount the meal but never did.
Its sad after eating at So for a decade I will never go back!!
