The Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro had very good food, however, for the price the portions were fairly small and my date and I left feeling hungry. Further, the jazz band was a floor up so not necessarily live music we're you're eating. But, what we did eat was delicious !

Delectable etouffee, light and satisfying peach cobbler, fabulous Hurricanes, and then the performance by Betty Shirley and ensemble, a local treasure and fine artist, all of it was very real and true, relaxed and fun. Can't wait to come back!

I booked this venue for my partner’s birthday during our trip to NOLA. I booked a 730 table for 2 and the band was scheduled to start at 9. When we got there they advised me that the restaurant and performance were completely independent of each other and that the performance had been sold out for weeks. We were disappointed and angry over the deception of the website, but it was Friday night in New Orleans and getting another dinner reservation might be problematic, so we swallowed our pride and went into the restaurant. It wasn’t impressive and after two of the items we requested weren’t available we walked out.

We had a great meal at Snug Harbor prior to the jazz show. Blackened fish, red beans and rice, and peach cobbler were stand outs. Service was friendly and prompt. The atmosphere, tables and paintings were not posh. Go here for the food and service and you won’t be disappointed.

The food was terrible and the host was very rude, 6 of our 8 people were there at 9:20 for a 9:30 reservation but he wouldn't seat us, then gave us a table by the kitchen. They had no clean silverware and the only napkins we got were cocktail napkins. Not a good experience.

we arrived for dinner and we’re greeted very rudely by an older man (we think is the owner?)who wouldn’t seat us till all of our party was there. that’s ok, but he was so mean and demeaning about it. we had tixs to the show that night so we had to eat quickly, and two of us did not receive our food at all while the others ate so we were late to the show. at the show we tried to find seats and the staff in the club were so rude, one guy even pushed our friend, a woman. Just terrible attitude all around. Thankfully, the music was great so deep bow to the musicians for making up for such a very bad vibe otherwise.

We were excited to have dinner based on the reviews. Starting off the wines on their wine list were not available. The manager came and showed us their new wine list which is very limited. He offered to comp one of our three bottles for our group which was appreciated. It was downhill from there. The food took at least 30 minutes and all servings were NOT warm when served Salmon was ok broiled shrimp was lukewarm at best. Three orders of etouffee were sent back due to cold temperature Side of jambalaya was cold and dried out. Non edible. Another side of red beans were cold. We finished our drinks and no offer to replenishment and asked for water twice. Asked to speak to manager and that was at least 15 minutes. No apologies offered . Overall very disappointing and would not recommend.

Snug Harbor Jazz BistroResponded on April 22, 2023Hi David, thanks for your feedback. Definitely sending your feedback to kitchen manager. As for the music, no where online has it ever said that we have music at 6:30pm. For 40 Years we have hosted shows nightly at 8:00pm & 10:00pm, and during Jazz Fest at 9:00pm & 11:00pm. This is easy to see by simply viewing our website music calendar where all show times are clearly posted. This is mimicked verbatim on our social media pages & local listings. Club has always been separate from restaurant.

We really came for the jazz music though didn't realize the dining and jazz wasn’t connected (completely our oversight). We got there right at our reservation (6p) which is when they opened. We had 3 reservations for 3 tables with 20 people, each with our own server. One table had entrees when the other just got appetizers and the third table (ours) still waiting to meet our server. The management came and did apologize and comped appetizers for the wait (thank you) as they said there was a communication issue with who was serving our table. No problem though issues still happened after: glass was cracked severely 3 major ones with chucks out, had to wait even longer for replacement; Drinks were typically not filled through the night; We ended up getting our entrees after the other tables had already eaten their meal. Then one entree came cold, it was just a potato. The seafood platters were really really good!! The burgers and chicken sandwich were ok. The bread pudding was also really really good!! They made the other tables leave before we were done which was an issue was we all rode together and 2 of the drivers were at our table. Also, be aware that they DO NOT split checks at all and a minimum of 20% tip automatically included regardless of you think it was worth 20%. The server was nice and apologetic for most of the night. All in all we had reserved the restaurant based on reviews and confirmed by the recommendation of one of the tours that day. I guess it was just an off shift as the ratings didn’t meet expectations. We had 7 at our table and still spent $240 (didn’t include the appetizers..again thank you). A better experience was at another restaurant the day prior with way less expense. Really hoping they had a bad day.

Menu wasn't very interesting and overpriced for what we had. The Jambalaya was mediocre and the burger was overcooked. We asked to see desert menu but it never arrived, we just got the bill placed in front of us. Of all our dining experiences in New Orleans is was the most disappointing. If you want to listen to Jazz then you have to purchase a ticket for a private room session.

Snug Harbor Jazz BistroResponded on April 22, 2023Thanks for your feedback Peter, and we are truly sorry your dining experience in the restaurant was less than great. Beginning May 1st, Snug Harbor is under new management, and we hope we can have you back for a second chance sometime soon. Your notes have been sent to new management. Please do let us know on your return, so we can provide you with better attention. As for the music, for 40 years, Snug has hosted 2 venues in 1 building; a restaurant on 1 side & world-renowned jazz club on othe.r

I had a filet mignon cooked a perfect medium rare. Hubby had the New York strip, looked more like a flank steak but still very tasty. The only real complaint is our asparagus was served lukewarm almost on the cooler side. Had delicious peach cobbler for dessert though! Absolutely loved the show afterwards.
