Snead's 1912 Steak
For a more casual environment, request to be sat in our Upstairs Lounge (available in season).
Food and service was great. We were seated right next to a table of 6 who were quite loud during the entire meal. We had reservations for at least two weeks and were put at the smallest and worst located table in the dining room. A little off-putting.
My wife and I had an excellent meal. Our table was on the rooftop patio, and the evening was perfect. We got to watch the reflection of the sunset on mountain behind the Homestead. We both enjoyed our cocktails, an Old Fashioned and something called a Fall Swing. We shared the fried green tomato salad, which was delicious. Our New York Strips were cooked over white oak to a perfect medium rare. We shared the mashed potatoes and the green beans as sides. It was a lovely evening with great food and a welcoming, warm ambiance.
Amazing experience and excellent food! I would highly recommend.
Food was fantastic and great service.
Fantastic service and food! We will definitely go back!!
Great service! Great food!!!
Even better than it was when the hotel ran it - can't wait to go back next trip to The Homestead!
Unfortunately service was really slow on Saturday night. We had the first reservation at 5:30. Two tables next to us came in after us, yet received their food before us. We only ordered a burger and a crab cake appetizer so not sure what the delay was. An hour and 30 minute dinner was to long for what we ordered.
We recently celebrated my husband's birthday at Snead's 1912. The food was excellent and the service was great. Oscar (our waiter) had a good knowledge of the food and drinks. He answered all of our questions and we were very pleased with the overall experience.
My husband ordered the ribeye and I ordered the tenderloin they both were wonderful as was the Caesar salad, but the best part of the whole evening was the tableside banana fosters preparations. It was unbelievably delicious. I do think it’s a little overpriced, Everything is à la cart. Large sides enough for 2 to 3 to share.
Low key casual setting with NY Steakhouse quality food. We had the Caesar salad and the Porterhouse Stekbwoth a side of asparagus. We washed it down with some Peanut Butter ice cream. Perhaps the best steak I have ever had! Our waiter was great guiding us through the menu and making suggestions. You must stop in here if you’re in the area! Very friendly staff all around as well.
Outstanding atmosphere, food and service. The steak was cooked to perfection and the cheesecake was delicious. Looking forward to our next visit!!
We dined here for my partners birthday over the weekend and had exceptional service from Michael. He offered great food and wine recommendations and everything we ordered was delicious.
Had not been to Snead's 1912 since it changed ownership. All the steaks we ordered were cooked perfectly. We were not happy with the crispy brussel sprouts. They seemed overdone even after we sent the first order back. Our 4 top table felt small especially given everything on the table. Expected more at that price point.
Great food, excellent server... kitchen couldn’t handle the rush and we waited for over an hour for our entrees. This is not a place for a quiet intimate discussion; felt like the table next to us were sitting with us. Request a table upstairs if u want a quiet setting.
All in, Snead’s is terrific and is our go to steakhouse when in the area. We just got a rough night in the kitchen.
Amazing again! Snead’s is one of our favorites...and I proposed to my now fiancée just before! What’s better than asking the woman of your dreams to marry you, then celebrating with a 12oz NY Strip and brussel sprouts with bacon and honey? NOTHING!
Love it so much, we are going back tomorrow night on our last night of our getaway!
The ol’ place looks great! The food was top notch - steak, salmon, and pasta at our table - and the side dishes were fantastic, especially the potatoes au gratin. Our service was also wonderful, from Holly our server to Oscar at the bar. We will continue to return and enjoy this vibrant old standard.
A great meal. The tomatoes were so fresh. Our waiter, Joseph, was informative about the various food options. One of us had the strip steak with blue cheese crust and the other had trout. The oyster presentation was outstanding. A must in Hot Springs.
Wedge salad and wine were excellent. Steak was sent back, undercooked. Au gratin potatoes were unevenly cooked ( I told our server they were crunchy) and not hot. These were also sent back. Our steaks were eventually brought to the table and were very good, the bernaise sauce had no tarragon flavor. The potatoes were returned to the table, still coolish and undercooked. We did not consider dessert. This was our 2nd time at Snead’s. The decor is charming. We probably won’t return.
Food was ok. Admittedly, we didn't get steak at a steakhouse, so should have known better, but the burger was only fair.
Food was excellent! Our steak dinner was the highlight of the meals that we ate on our honeymoon trip to Hot Springs. Our waiter Jeffery was friendly and helpful with our menu questions.
Wish the upstairs would be open all year. I know the patio can’t but would be nice to enjoy the upstairs and esp the bar area!
First visit was perfect. Server was attentive and made great recommendations. The steaks and ribs were excellent but the oysters were my favorite. Looking forward to visiting again!
Incredible incredible incredible!!! The service, food and ambiance were wonderful!!! Going back tomorrow night!!
Great food and service but the level of screeching kids was unfortunate. We loved our servers!
Prime rib was dry and martini just ok
Great experience, great service, delicious food, the steak cut like butter! Our server Matthew was awesome! It is definitely an experience I want again and again!
Our waitress Holly went above and beyond for us. She took equally as good of care of our daughter as she did us. We highly recommend.
Family dinner before we left the Homestead resort.
Excellent food and service; friendly staff, sat out on balcony and had a great evening. Steaks all done properly.
Our first time since the re opening of Sam Snead’s. They were very accommodating for our young family.
Steak was perfect. Salmon, not so much. After all, it is a steak house. Sides were represented as enough for 2 - they were more than correct. We, two people, ordered two sides - more than enough - and they were both delicious. I think it is a great alternative to the Homestead, for at least one night.
Just a stone’s throw from the Homestead, Snead’s serves outstanding steaks. My ribeye was probably the best I’ve ever had. Our waiter was attentive and able to explain the menu options. I ordered Bananas Foster for dessert, and he prepared it table side, complete with flames. Atmospher is a bit rustic with Sam Snead (famous golfer) memorabilia all over. recommended, especially for Homestead guests.
Wonderful all around, our second 5 star experience. Fantastic food, intimate setting; we unfortunately had to bring our children with us for this visit, but found it to very family friendly (our daughter even ate her mac ‘n cheese - a feat worth mentioning). Will be back on our next trip to the Homestead!
We had a wonderful time staying at the Homestead and dining at Snead's. The hostess as you enter the door and waitress were so very welcoming and gave outstanding service. We had table side banana's foster and it was AMAZING!
We had an absolutely incredible dining experience at Snead’s 1912 Steak! Our server (Joseph?) was outstanding and the food was wonderful! We highly recommend your restaurant and can’t wait to return during our next visit to the Homestead!
Matt was superb!
We always enjoying Snead's when we are visiting Hot Springs, VA!
