Sneaky brew pub with some unique food options you don't normally see. Poutine and white bean dip were great starters and frankly you could go apps all night and not be disappointed. Will venture beyond pizza and burgers next time. Solid beer choices and great diverse mule coctail options.

They use the "team" approach to service and it left us without refills on drinks. The kitchen needs to work on it's timing. We had eaten about three bites of the appetizer and the main course showed up. Had to put those plates aside to finishes the appetizer. Decent food but maybe a buck or two over priced. Good spot for a date or a group. Just don't have high expectations going in for the service.

We went for Valentine's Day celebration at lunch time. Quiet during my experience. Welcoming hostess, and waiter-Adam G. (knowledgeable and attentive) Menu has good selections. Chicken was ok. But, loved the beef brisket sandwich on brioche. The mac and cheese was a pleasant surprise. Ordered it for tasting. Like the ambiance. Sat by the fireplace, really enjoyed seating. Plan to return.

Dry ribs and improperly prepared dry martini. Spoon bread pretty good as were mussels.

This was my second visit and it was just as delicious as I remembered! My husband and I are both craft beer fans and we came armed with a growler to fill this time. Our one disappointment was that apparently there were no ribs available until about an hour after we ordered. I realize that ribs are a time-consuming and delicate task, but they're my absolute favorite BBQ food and I was really surprised that we ordered at 12 noon and apparently ribs weren't available until closer to 1p

The BBQ brisket end cuts were terrific. This came as part of the BBQ flight dinner. Everyone in our party was very pleased with all the dishes.

Been here several times. Both Rueben and brisket are done right. Their local brews are great and they aren’t too proud to have other good ones on tap. This place is a family favorite when we are in the Evanston area

Food and service always excellent. BBQ: some of the best I have had. Wood-fired oven pizzas have that great crust and Mike will entertain with a few in air crust throws. Zef (SP) and team are doing a great job. Evanston needed this restaurant.

I come here A LOT. Horrible service today, manager not interested in feedback, rude attitude. Have your bartender wait tables during football game? It’s a joke. Not coming back.

I love Smylie Brothers and I will be back soon. The food is impeccable, the servers are friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere is hip but unpretentious. I highly recommend checking them out. Excellent beer brewed in house and craft cocktails!

I love just down the street but went for my first time when my mom was in town. My girlfriend came and so did my cousin. We are all pretty impressed with the food, probably one of the best menus I’ve seen at a brewery. But it is a brewery so let’s talk about beer - I loved it. They have a good selection of outside breweries but I went with their own Farmhouse and I thought it was great. I also tried the beers everyone else got and thought they were great. I also enjoyed the ambiance - it looks like a big barn but still manages to feel cozy, and the service was pretty good. He was able to give us good food recommendation as well as (more importantly) good beer recommendations. I’m excited to come back, especially when the summer rolls around and the patio opens back up!

Smiley is a neighborhood fave for us. On this occasion, they accommodated us 30 minutes early, as well as got us a lovely table outside to catch the last of the warm Fall temps. They are a tiny bit touchy about little kids, but there are always a ton of families with littles there (us incuded). Great food, great beer.

Tried this brewery out because we were in town for NU reunion. Really great find - if they had been in biz in the 70's we would have lived here. Nice bar/pub atmosphere. Pretty good pub food - we really lived the mussels; soft pretzel is yum too. And then there is their beer - goid, really good. Loved the bourbon aged stout, baltic portrr & tripel. Their "purple line" wheat won a silver medal at GABF while we were there... Go here😊

Delicious BBQ with a wide variety on the menu. The cheese sauce that comes with the big pretzel can also be ordered with fries and is worth every calorie! The restaurant can be a little loud, but the food and beer make it worth having to talk a little louder.

The beer was fantastic, the food was high-end pub fare - well presented and generally well prepared. The server was distracted and inattentive; the decor and vibe get high marks. Will definitely return but hope to get a different server.

Chili-cheese fries were amazing! Great place for good beer, lots of sports on the TVs and solid BBQ. We can never make it to dessert (and we typically split the BBQ flight so we can sample all the deliciousness!) but it looks amazing.

Pretty good food and good flavor on the BBQ brisket, but it was awfully fatty despite having ordered it lean. The sides are really good: corn pudding, cole slaw, salads. Efficient service.

Disappointed in meal and service. Waiter was generally unavailable and the Chopped Brisket and Pulled chicken sandwiches we ordered were just warm at best. The best part of the meal were the fries which were hot. Outside patio at a good atmosphere. To many other places to visit. Don't plan on returning.

The food was good. The only problem was finding hair in my french fries. Our waitress was kind enough to remove an item from our bill because of this. First time having this issue at Smylie Bros.

I like this place a lot. Love the Purple Line beer and that you can get a 5 oz. beer. The pizza is very good, and the barbecue is good. The half chicken is a great Sunday dinner, and get it with the spoon bread which is warm and moist and tasty.
