Smylie Brothers Brewing Co. Ratings and Reviews
Sneaky brew pub with some unique food options you don't normally see. Poutine and white bean dip were great starters and frankly you could go apps all night and not be disappointed. Will venture beyond pizza and burgers next time. Solid beer choices and great diverse mule coctail options.
They use the "team" approach to service and it left us without refills on drinks. The kitchen needs to work on it's timing. We had eaten about three bites of the appetizer and the main course showed up. Had to put those plates aside to finishes the appetizer. Decent food but maybe a buck or two over priced. Good spot for a date or a group. Just don't have high expectations going in for the service.
We went for Valentine's Day celebration at lunch time. Quiet during my experience. Welcoming hostess, and waiter-Adam G. (knowledgeable and attentive) Menu has good selections. Chicken was ok. But, loved the beef brisket sandwich on brioche. The mac and cheese was a pleasant surprise. Ordered it for tasting. Like the ambiance. Sat by the fireplace, really enjoyed seating. Plan to return.
This was my second visit and it was just as delicious as I remembered! My husband and I are both craft beer fans and we came armed with a growler to fill this time. Our one disappointment was that apparently there were no ribs available until about an hour after we ordered. I realize that ribs are a time-consuming and delicate task, but they're my absolute favorite BBQ food and I was really surprised that we ordered at 12 noon and apparently ribs weren't available until closer to 1p
I love just down the street but went for my first time when my mom was in town. My girlfriend came and so did my cousin. We are all pretty impressed with the food, probably one of the best menus I’ve seen at a brewery. But it is a brewery so let’s talk about beer - I loved it. They have a good selection of outside breweries but I went with their own Farmhouse and I thought it was great. I also tried the beers everyone else got and thought they were great. I also enjoyed the ambiance - it looks like a big barn but still manages to feel cozy, and the service was pretty good. He was able to give us good food recommendation as well as (more importantly) good beer recommendations. I’m excited to come back, especially when the summer rolls around and the patio opens back up!
Smiley is a neighborhood fave for us. On this occasion, they accommodated us 30 minutes early, as well as got us a lovely table outside to catch the last of the warm Fall temps. They are a tiny bit touchy about little kids, but there are always a ton of families with littles there (us incuded). Great food, great beer.
Tried this brewery out because we were in town for NU reunion. Really great find - if they had been in biz in the 70's we would have lived here. Nice bar/pub atmosphere. Pretty good pub food - we really lived the mussels; soft pretzel is yum too. And then there is their beer - goid, really good. Loved the bourbon aged stout, baltic portrr & tripel. Their "purple line" wheat won a silver medal at GABF while we were there... Go here😊
Delicious BBQ with a wide variety on the menu. The cheese sauce that comes with the big pretzel can also be ordered with fries and is worth every calorie! The restaurant can be a little loud, but the food and beer make it worth having to talk a little louder.
Disappointed in meal and service. Waiter was generally unavailable and the Chopped Brisket and Pulled chicken sandwiches we ordered were just warm at best. The best part of the meal were the fries which were hot. Outside patio at a good atmosphere. To many other places to visit. Don't plan on returning.
