Family in town for Thanksgiving. They all loves the location (we had visited Arboretum earlier in day).
The only plus is that our table was ready for us when we arrived. The experience went downhill from there. First, they gave us 3 menus for a party of 7. Not sure what that was about. We were seated inside (by request) and were placed right next to the bar. It was not a very attractive section of the restaurant.
We asked a couple of questions about the menu and proceeded to order, based in the server’s description of sizes. The first item that we ordered as an appetizer was a family-sized fried okra. That came about about 10 minutes later in a small paper boat that was nothing like the large plate our server had described. Not a huge deal, but definitely significant as we waited 45 minutes for our food to come out. During that time, we had a change in servers, and our drinks were refilled a handful of times. The only apology we received for the wait was about 5 minutes before the food came out. Maybe some bread for the table would have been a nice gesture. As it was, we were pretty hangry by the time the food came out. Here’s the thing: if what we had ordered was time-consuming, I would understand. But we ordered a large meat board that contains meats that have been pre-smoked and cooked. No reason for that to take a long time to come out. And when we got it, it was lukewarm at best. Very disappointing.
Bottom line: I would not come here unless you have plenty of time to spare and don’t care if your food is great.
Always a great time.. great atmosphere and food. Great for groups too.
Loved the food and eating outdoors on the patio, but a couple of bees would not leave us alone. lol Stayed and talked with friends and no one made us feel like we had to leave! Perfect lunch!
Our waiter was fantastic!!! Hilarious, fun and very attentive. Food was okay, not bad but definitely overpriced
It’s a little pricey, but worth it! Fun place.
This is the 2nd time we have dined here and we have been very impressed both times. Love the food and ambience.
We made reservation at this very busy place before visiting the Dallas Arboretum. The food was excellent and there were some creative things on the menu. The service was also very professional. The food came out quickly. Our water glasses were kept full. Timing was very good. We will visit again.
Best patio in Dallas. Extra bonus - food is delicious! :)
Great atmosphere, food and the entertainment was great!
Our server Noelia was outstanding. She took great care of us with such grace.
Love their patio, however they were having extreme service challenges when we visited last night. The waitress was trying to do her best and was very apologetic (ie I don’t blame her), but it took over an hour to get food from the time we ordered and the restaurant was nowhere near capacity (maybe 50% max when we were there during a normal dinner window). My guess would be that they are having staffing problems in the kitchen, but with no expectations management upfront, this led to very hungry & cranky young kids. Great location, and I hope they can improve service speed and/or how they manage expectations.
Beautiful environment and cozy feel. Dustin is a great server. We understood how busy he was, he was always professional and did his best.
We had visitors from Denver for a few days. We decided to take them to the Arboretum for the afternoon, walk over to Smoky Rose for dinner then back to the Arboretum for the night time Christmas lights.
Wonderful day, wonderful food, wonderful weather! A very fun experience!!
What made the experience unpleasant was the unfriendly and superior, haughty attitude of the hostess — I would hesitate to go back because even though our waiter was good and the food was fine — the hostess is the first person you encounter and in this case it really set the tone. She was horrible and not someone you’d want to meet in a dark alley.
We had pulled pork quesadillas, smoked bbq chicken, salmon, fajitas, and the loaded baked potato. The cocktails were very good and the peach cobbler and pecan pie were the BEST. Our server was also great.
Food was average, service was poor, atmosphere was great. We ordered the brisket queso, after 20 minutes we ask where it was, they never put in the order. When it came it was hard to find any brisket. One of us ordered the brisket nachos, way too many beans. The steak sandwich was ok but lacking favor. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things. However we did see an order delivered to one table only for them to realized after they walked away they gave it to the wrong table, So they picked it all up and took it one table over. Sorry, once food is placed in front of someone else, you don't give it too another table. So I think there is a lack of service training going on there.
My friends and I had a delightful dinner at Smoky Rose. Everyone commented on
how much they enjoyed their food. We had an excellent waiter. We were served promptly despite the fact they were very busy. I just can't say enough positive things about how well the evening went.
Forced valet services proved to be quite tacky as there were spots open 1 foot in front of us.
We should have an option whether to valet or self park if lot is open in front of restaurant.
Our waiter was very busy and negligent. We would even make eye contact with him and he’d still go to clear a table instead of take care of us. We were seated 30 minutes before he took food order. We very much like Smoky Rose but this experience makes me hesitate coming back.
Such a great place for the family and I didn’t even need to worry about parking because they have complementary valley!
it wasn’t the best service that. it was slow and not as upbeat
Our table was not ready when we arrived and we were barely greeted. The utensils and menus were not placed at every seat but thrown in the middle of the table. Water took 15 minutes. Overall, the food and atmosphere were good but i definitely felt like we were an inconvenience to their staff. Would not recommend for a group.
The food was great, but the reservation service was poor and unorganized. Couldn’t enjoy a intimate moment for all the noise.
We love smoky rose. Great atmosphere great food, just be prepared for the service to be a little slow but everything else makes up for that :)
A little too loud, even outside.
We had an excellent meal. Really nice place.
Great overall experience the host was able to accommodate a group of 12 guests. The place was very quiet although it was a Wednesday afternoon am sure it gets very busy on weekends. Very good food and beautiful patio!
Enjoyed our first visit to Smoky Rose on the recommendation of our children. Food was very good and our server took very good care of us! I am sure we will be back :-)
Great food and menu selection. Baked beans are awesome!
Great patio seating! Good was delicious!
Slow service. Parking/valet takes a while. Food was not as good as we've had in the past.
This place is beautiful with lots of unusual menu items
Great food, and charming atmosphere! We will definitely be back.
Always a great dining experience!
We requested a table away from music and were accomodated. The food was outstanding. Our poor waiter had a lot of tables but managed to keep the drinks coming and a smile on his face!!! Great afternoon with friends.
Great place to sit outside when the weather is nice.
The staff seemed overwhelmed with the amount of people at the restaurant; the mac and cheese was refrigerator cold and we saw our waitress twice in two hours. However, the cocktails were very good
It’s a nice vibe and the food is pretty good
I’ve been here two times now and I’ll keep coming back because it’s just like fun to be there with your friends or on a date
Great as always!
