The restaurant is pretty good, but there’s some things they should figure out that could make the whole experience better.
1) Charging for side substitutions makes no sense. A restaurant giving you complimentary valet but charging you to sub collard greens for green beans seems like somebody’s priorities are out of order. What’s even funnier is that they ran out of mashed potatoes shortly thereafter and we got the greens anyway.
2) The serving of brisket queso is out of proportion with the number of chips you get, suggesting the appetizer size is too small, and they know it but hope you don’t.
3) The food tastes great. They should snap the green beans and clean the ends.
4) the service was amazing.
Good solid barbecue joint. Nothing mind-blowing, but understandably popular.
I love to dine at Smoky Rose. The food, the ambiance, and the service are always great. I highly recommend it.
Food good as always. Service good. Always enjoy!!
Service, s-l-ow. Food, unremarkable.
Our services was attentive and timely with drink refills. They were out of the bacon appetizer which was a bummer and it was too hot sitting in the back room. Would definitely recommend drinks and apps on the patio when weather permits.
We drove over an hour to find out they were closed. We made the reservation 1,5 hours before our reservation. Wondering why they didn’t close reservations if they weren’t going to be open.
I apologize for your drive. Unfortunately we were without power and internet all day. Including our homes so I am sorry for your experience. We have just restored power to our homes early this morning and are making the adjustments to our reservations.
Food was very good although the brisket was a tad over cooked. It was season perfectly and their BBQ sauce is very good. The Mac and cheese was excellent.
We have visited twice and both times the service was slow. They are always apologetic but needs to be addressed. The food and the ambiance are great!
The sandwich that I ordered, smoked salmon blt, was delicious and did not skimp on the salmon. The fries, one of three side options, were perfectly seasoned and they were also delicious. The two other entrees served at our table received a very positive response as well. My only reason for not giving this five stars was due to a lack of vegetables offered. Carrots, slaw and other items were choices on the menu, but some form of grilled veggies or other green vegetable choices would have been nice. I realize this restaurant is known for its smoked meats, but even a grilled vegetable burger would have helped to make my eating experience a five star event. I am very please with this experience and will continue to be a customer as I live nearby. An excellent choice for a lunch/dinner out for the family or special event.
The food was exactly the way I thought it would be, amazing. Great price for great family sharing. The service was excellent as well as nice. Overall would recommend.
Absolutely the most pathetic dining experience I have ever had. The owner was out of the five dishes we initially requested. The brisket was dry and sub par. We live very close to this place and will not be going back. Pathetic management. We were frequent patrons of this place, but it has really gone down hill.
We have a very inconsistent experience here. This time they were out of several items and we found out when the delivered what they had left on our order. Reason given is the ‘we are a scratch kitchen’. Will not be back.
We'd heard really good things, so we were really looking forward to our meal. However, the BBQ was dry and tasteless and the chicken-fried steak was tough. Our waitress was friendly but service was very slow. I see the appeal of the space - being outside and it's nicely landscaped - but unfortunately that's all we enjoyed.
Too many flies! It is difficult to enjoy a nice meal here when you're constantly defending your food against flies. They need to invest in fly bags. We have one in our backyard and no flies all summer. Seriously guys - do your patrons a favor. The fly problem is out of control.
Merry brisket tacos were awesome! Love the atmosphere!
I truly love the concept of the restaurant and they have a great menu. Patio is truly what sells this place.
Unfortunately both times I have been the service has been extremely slow. This last time it took about 20 minutes before someone even waited on us.
They sell that they have all day happy hour Mondays and Tuesdays in their bar which is why we went there. Unfortunately you have to sit IN THE BAR to receive the deal. My friend had her dog so we had to sit outside. I didn't feel like they made that clear online so it was very misleading.
What a joke - made same day reservations on open-table and the restaurant would not honor them. We were so excited to try it as we had heard good things; but the hostess who was no where to be found when we arrived informed us that same day reservations are not allowed and we would have to wait 45 minutes. Um No. You need to get your act together. Either you accept open-table reservations or your don’t. If you won’t accept same day reservations; you need to turn off the options with Open Table.
We will not be back.
Great place great staff and Wonderful food !!! The Dr. Pepper sauce is yummy, who thought that up !!!
Service was inconsistent.
Six of us went for lunch after touring the Dallas Arboretum. Good food and service.
The food sand drinks were excellent. Service was just a little slow. We will certainly be returning in the future.
We arrived before our reservation and were graciously seated. We passed by empty tables and were finally seated in the clastic curtained outside bar. Wasn’t thrilled, but it turned out fine. Very pleasant. The Jalapeño Hush Puppies and tangy dip were sublime. We gobbled them up. Good, string cocktails. Food came fast. I had smoked pork tenderloins with delicious pickled super thin red onions on top. The taste was perfect. They were just a tiny bit overdone, but only just. The second one was less done and was perfect. The mashed potatoes tasted good, but we both said the texture was off, and they were mealy. Needed some cream and butter. The Mexican street corn ( Eloté ) was superb. We split a bourbon pecan pie and homemade ice cream. This was absolutely fantastic. Gloria was our server, and we cannot praise her enough. She was very professional, yet fun. My friend loved the chicken fried steak, but did not care for the spicy gravy. I rather liked it, but it IS different. Great smoky taste on all meats. We definitely will be back.
We had the BBQ two meat platter. Turkey was good but a bit dry. Brisket was quite good. Mashed potatoes were almost flavorless. Cole slaw was different and very good. Collard Greens were excellent. We had the pecan pie for dessert, and it was excellent. Service (Izzy) was great. Worth a return visit!
The food is always so very good. The ribs and brisket are our favorites.
very good service and atmosphere. Food was well prepared.
Absolutely lovely restaurant! The outdoor set up is amazing and the interior is quaint. The brisket was on point! I had the bacon bucket which was described as crispy but I’d beg to differ. It was still tasty because it’s bacon. My friend had the eggs Benedict with brisket and it was outstanding.
The service could really use some help. While our server was very accommodating to our mention of food allergy, she seemed new at serving. She brought no spoons for coffee, no plates for the appetizer, and knowingly brought Luke warm coffee. Just a little polish for the server and this place would be 5 stars.
It was pretty quiet as it was a Tuesday. I was pretty underwhelmed with the food. They make a big deal about their sauces - because you need the sauce for the meat to have any flavor. The queso was pretty unique, so it was good. It was reasonably priced. I would go again, but it’s not a first choice.
Queso and service was really good - rest of the food was below average.
Great food!!! Awesome deal on the sides $4
The food and service were good. When we were initially seated it was in a smaller room with a large party with small children running around. There were many open tables. We did ask to be moved and were accommodated
soooo, open table only let us make reservations for 5:45p & it was dead... dead when we got there & dead when we left @ 6:45p... we were seating outside (?) why? & our food was tasty but COLD.... 5:45p was an extra early time to arrive & what a waste of our hustle to get there on-time. service was excellent.
We wanted to try and I’m glad we did... enjoyable experience
Had a great experience, we went in between Christmas & New Years so you could tell the staff was light. But we had a lovely dinner & great cocktails, didn’t feel rushed.
This restaurant has the best brisket I have had in Dallas, casual, but sophisticated enough to be more than a barbecue joint.
Good atmosphere but not so great food. Took so long to get one 17 oz steak med rare. Didn’t taste great and barely cooked. Really looked forward to this but disappointed.
My friends and I dined at Smoky Rose before going to the Dallas Arboretum. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The enclosed patio was warm and comfortable and is even more delightful in warmer weather. We had a great time.
What a beautiful restaurant! We shared the appetizer sampler, delightful! Then shared the bbq sampler. We ate for days on that! Our server was relaxed and attentive; a perfect combo! My drink was the best manhattan ever, perfectly balanced. All others will compare to this one. Thank you for a lovely evening!
Ordered fried chicken with mashed potatoes. When it arrived I found out the gravy has ALL kinds of sausage in it. I don't eat red meat. And no - the menu does NOT say that the gravy is full of sausage. So the waitress took my plate back to the kitchen, scraped off the mashed potatoes and gravy, and scooped some cold mac and cheese onto my plate. Seriously?!?!?!? Needless to say, we won't be going back.
This was our first visit here and we loved it! Our server Cheyenne was wonderful. Great food and great atmosphere!
