The smoked meats were great, but my steak and mashed potatoes were completely lacking flavor. Our server was fantastic though!
Food was mostly good. Beef tacos were dry. Service was not so good.Waiter interrupted our conversations three times to ask if we needed anything. Then forgot to get what we asked for. Got our bills totally mixed up.
This was our 5th time, however this time we brought friends. By saying 5th that lets you know this is our favorite place. I now believe our friends will be going back again
Drinks were a little watered down
We've been several times and eaten both indoors and on the patio. We enjoy the food and occasional live music. However, this most recent visit, we were crammed at a table for 2 that was positioned under a cabinet directly over our heads. There were plenty of other tables throughout the facility so not sure why they felt like this table was the only option. We assumed they were seating us there for a reason so we didn't ask to be moved. (However most of those open tables remained vacant the entire time we were there.) To make it less awkward, we pulled the table away from the wall a bit so I didn't forget about the cabinet and stand up too quickly -- and a couple of spiders sort of hung off the cabinet and swung precariously next to us until we took care of them with our beverage napkins. I'm not sure if this table is always there or if they put it there as a result of some re-configuring of tables for a couple of large tables in the room, but at a minimum, the cabinet likely could use a dusting for future reference! The service from our waitstaff was friendly and appropriately attentive, despite the large parties for which she was also responsible. However, the guys that came in to rearrange tables and chairs after some diners left simply dragged them across the floor rather than picking them up. The resulting noise was unnecessary and distracting for our dining experience. The food was good, although I likely will not reorder the variety of vegetables I did this time. Go for the BBQ -- don't try to make it more than that like I did. I've always enjoyed the meat -- not sure why I didn't dance with it again. We'll come back and I recommend others come as well. The only reason I mentioned these issues is because they won't know how small things like spiders and chairs being dragged around can irritate diners if no one tells them. Had a manager or host stopped by to check on us I would have informed them but I wasn't going to bring it up to the busy server.
Service was poor, they were out of the special at 7:30 on a Friday night, so we ordered a steak, asked for medium and it came out almost raw. The brisket queso was good tho.
Nice outdoor atmosphere but with a party of seven not one person liked their food
I had the trout which I had to salt and pepper a lot. It was not seasoned well. The salad it came with was fresh and good. The pulled pork was good. The mac n cheese was cheesy but again no salt or pepper, no bacon no flavor. The pototao salad was too al dente and mustardy for my taste and the bread was too hard and burnt.
Menu looks great all I want to go try more. The restaurant itself is very nice!!
I felt like I was leaning forward on my chair too much and going to fall. The seats were not comfortable. (Sat inside)
Smokey Rose was a great place to dine. It had delicious food and a nice atmosphere. Of everywhere we ate on our trip it was by far the best. The chicken fried steak was very good and so was the queso with brisket.
Food was excellent!! The service was good. We can’t wait to go back!!
The restaurant is pretty good, but there’s some things they should figure out that could make the whole experience better.
1) Charging for side substitutions makes no sense. A restaurant giving you complimentary valet but charging you to sub collard greens for green beans seems like somebody’s priorities are out of order. What’s even funnier is that they ran out of mashed potatoes shortly thereafter and we got the greens anyway.
2) The serving of brisket queso is out of proportion with the number of chips you get, suggesting the appetizer size is too small, and they know it but hope you don’t.
3) The food tastes great. They should snap the green beans and clean the ends.
4) the service was amazing.
Good solid barbecue joint. Nothing mind-blowing, but understandably popular.
I love to dine at Smoky Rose. The food, the ambiance, and the service are always great. I highly recommend it.
Food good as always. Service good. Always enjoy!!
Service, s-l-ow. Food, unremarkable.
Our services was attentive and timely with drink refills. They were out of the bacon appetizer which was a bummer and it was too hot sitting in the back room. Would definitely recommend drinks and apps on the patio when weather permits.
We drove over an hour to find out they were closed. We made the reservation 1,5 hours before our reservation. Wondering why they didn’t close reservations if they weren’t going to be open.
I apologize for your drive. Unfortunately we were without power and internet all day. Including our homes so I am sorry for your experience. We have just restored power to our homes early this morning and are making the adjustments to our reservations.
Food was very good although the brisket was a tad over cooked. It was season perfectly and their BBQ sauce is very good. The Mac and cheese was excellent.
We have visited twice and both times the service was slow. They are always apologetic but needs to be addressed. The food and the ambiance are great!
The sandwich that I ordered, smoked salmon blt, was delicious and did not skimp on the salmon. The fries, one of three side options, were perfectly seasoned and they were also delicious. The two other entrees served at our table received a very positive response as well. My only reason for not giving this five stars was due to a lack of vegetables offered. Carrots, slaw and other items were choices on the menu, but some form of grilled veggies or other green vegetable choices would have been nice. I realize this restaurant is known for its smoked meats, but even a grilled vegetable burger would have helped to make my eating experience a five star event. I am very please with this experience and will continue to be a customer as I live nearby. An excellent choice for a lunch/dinner out for the family or special event.
The food was exactly the way I thought it would be, amazing. Great price for great family sharing. The service was excellent as well as nice. Overall would recommend.
Absolutely the most pathetic dining experience I have ever had. The owner was out of the five dishes we initially requested. The brisket was dry and sub par. We live very close to this place and will not be going back. Pathetic management. We were frequent patrons of this place, but it has really gone down hill.
We have a very inconsistent experience here. This time they were out of several items and we found out when the delivered what they had left on our order. Reason given is the ‘we are a scratch kitchen’. Will not be back.
We'd heard really good things, so we were really looking forward to our meal. However, the BBQ was dry and tasteless and the chicken-fried steak was tough. Our waitress was friendly but service was very slow. I see the appeal of the space - being outside and it's nicely landscaped - but unfortunately that's all we enjoyed.
Too many flies! It is difficult to enjoy a nice meal here when you're constantly defending your food against flies. They need to invest in fly bags. We have one in our backyard and no flies all summer. Seriously guys - do your patrons a favor. The fly problem is out of control.
Merry brisket tacos were awesome! Love the atmosphere!
I truly love the concept of the restaurant and they have a great menu. Patio is truly what sells this place.
Unfortunately both times I have been the service has been extremely slow. This last time it took about 20 minutes before someone even waited on us.
They sell that they have all day happy hour Mondays and Tuesdays in their bar which is why we went there. Unfortunately you have to sit IN THE BAR to receive the deal. My friend had her dog so we had to sit outside. I didn't feel like they made that clear online so it was very misleading.
What a joke - made same day reservations on open-table and the restaurant would not honor them. We were so excited to try it as we had heard good things; but the hostess who was no where to be found when we arrived informed us that same day reservations are not allowed and we would have to wait 45 minutes. Um No. You need to get your act together. Either you accept open-table reservations or your don’t. If you won’t accept same day reservations; you need to turn off the options with Open Table.
We will not be back.
Great place great staff and Wonderful food !!! The Dr. Pepper sauce is yummy, who thought that up !!!
Service was inconsistent.
Six of us went for lunch after touring the Dallas Arboretum. Good food and service.
The food sand drinks were excellent. Service was just a little slow. We will certainly be returning in the future.
We arrived before our reservation and were graciously seated. We passed by empty tables and were finally seated in the clastic curtained outside bar. Wasn’t thrilled, but it turned out fine. Very pleasant. The Jalapeño Hush Puppies and tangy dip were sublime. We gobbled them up. Good, string cocktails. Food came fast. I had smoked pork tenderloins with delicious pickled super thin red onions on top. The taste was perfect. They were just a tiny bit overdone, but only just. The second one was less done and was perfect. The mashed potatoes tasted good, but we both said the texture was off, and they were mealy. Needed some cream and butter. The Mexican street corn ( Eloté ) was superb. We split a bourbon pecan pie and homemade ice cream. This was absolutely fantastic. Gloria was our server, and we cannot praise her enough. She was very professional, yet fun. My friend loved the chicken fried steak, but did not care for the spicy gravy. I rather liked it, but it IS different. Great smoky taste on all meats. We definitely will be back.
We had the BBQ two meat platter. Turkey was good but a bit dry. Brisket was quite good. Mashed potatoes were almost flavorless. Cole slaw was different and very good. Collard Greens were excellent. We had the pecan pie for dessert, and it was excellent. Service (Izzy) was great. Worth a return visit!
The food is always so very good. The ribs and brisket are our favorites.
very good service and atmosphere. Food was well prepared.
Absolutely lovely restaurant! The outdoor set up is amazing and the interior is quaint. The brisket was on point! I had the bacon bucket which was described as crispy but I’d beg to differ. It was still tasty because it’s bacon. My friend had the eggs Benedict with brisket and it was outstanding.
The service could really use some help. While our server was very accommodating to our mention of food allergy, she seemed new at serving. She brought no spoons for coffee, no plates for the appetizer, and knowingly brought Luke warm coffee. Just a little polish for the server and this place would be 5 stars.
It was pretty quiet as it was a Tuesday. I was pretty underwhelmed with the food. They make a big deal about their sauces - because you need the sauce for the meat to have any flavor. The queso was pretty unique, so it was good. It was reasonably priced. I would go again, but it’s not a first choice.
Queso and service was really good - rest of the food was below average.
Great food!!! Awesome deal on the sides $4
