Absolutely lovely restaurant! The outdoor set up is amazing and the interior is quaint. The brisket was on point! I had the bacon bucket which was described as crispy but I’d beg to differ. It was still tasty because it’s bacon. My friend had the eggs Benedict with brisket and it was outstanding.
The service could really use some help. While our server was very accommodating to our mention of food allergy, she seemed new at serving. She brought no spoons for coffee, no plates for the appetizer, and knowingly brought Luke warm coffee. Just a little polish for the server and this place would be 5 stars.
It was pretty quiet as it was a Tuesday. I was pretty underwhelmed with the food. They make a big deal about their sauces - because you need the sauce for the meat to have any flavor. The queso was pretty unique, so it was good. It was reasonably priced. I would go again, but it’s not a first choice.
Queso and service was really good - rest of the food was below average.
Great food!!! Awesome deal on the sides $4
The food and service were good. When we were initially seated it was in a smaller room with a large party with small children running around. There were many open tables. We did ask to be moved and were accommodated
soooo, open table only let us make reservations for 5:45p & it was dead... dead when we got there & dead when we left @ 6:45p... we were seating outside (?) why? & our food was tasty but COLD.... 5:45p was an extra early time to arrive & what a waste of our hustle to get there on-time. service was excellent.
We wanted to try and I’m glad we did... enjoyable experience
Had a great experience, we went in between Christmas & New Years so you could tell the staff was light. But we had a lovely dinner & great cocktails, didn’t feel rushed.
This restaurant has the best brisket I have had in Dallas, casual, but sophisticated enough to be more than a barbecue joint.
Good atmosphere but not so great food. Took so long to get one 17 oz steak med rare. Didn’t taste great and barely cooked. Really looked forward to this but disappointed.
My friends and I dined at Smoky Rose before going to the Dallas Arboretum. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The enclosed patio was warm and comfortable and is even more delightful in warmer weather. We had a great time.
What a beautiful restaurant! We shared the appetizer sampler, delightful! Then shared the bbq sampler. We ate for days on that! Our server was relaxed and attentive; a perfect combo! My drink was the best manhattan ever, perfectly balanced. All others will compare to this one. Thank you for a lovely evening!
Ordered fried chicken with mashed potatoes. When it arrived I found out the gravy has ALL kinds of sausage in it. I don't eat red meat. And no - the menu does NOT say that the gravy is full of sausage. So the waitress took my plate back to the kitchen, scraped off the mashed potatoes and gravy, and scooped some cold mac and cheese onto my plate. Seriously?!?!?!? Needless to say, we won't be going back.
This was our first visit here and we loved it! Our server Cheyenne was wonderful. Great food and great atmosphere!
En general bien, no sobresaliente. El Brisket estaba muy grasoso.
At 8 pm on Saturday evening we were the only customers and so the service was superb.
The brisket was delicious but a little too fatty.
We so want to love this neighborhood restaurant, as the location, atmosphere, patio and service are all great. The food, however, is just average at best. We’ve tried numerous times since they opened and each time we have been underwhelmed. Unfortunately unless we hear rave reviews about the food and that things have changed, we won’t return.
Food was great, service was excellent, prices were reasonable. Definitely going back.
Took 45 minutes and three unsolicited requests to get the appetizer served.
Great location across from arboretum nice outdoor seating. Restaurant is beautiful but when you get to the food it goes down hill fast. It was Saturday and it was busy so I understand could be a little slow but some of the issues should not happen in a place like this. Half our table received food while the other half waited over 15 minutes. Food was not seasoned. The worst was the kid cheeseburger they sent out. It was the saddest looking overlooked basic burger you could find. My niece took one bite and said it was bad.
We just had a salad and a beef sandwich, but the food took an exceptionally long and unreasonable amount of time to get and the restaurant was not full. The waitress would not check on our order at first as she said the kitchen was busy. The beef sandwich arrived with about a table spoon of beef on each half. We left hungry and were late for the rest of our afternoon.
Service VERY slow.
Served us some iced tea that tasted like it was mixed with yesterday's coffee grounds but other than that it was ok. Seems to have declined a bit in quality and experience since it opened but it's still decent.
The food was awesome. Only one bartender working so drinks were slow. We sat outside and the flies were terrible.
First visit to Smoky Rose was great! This time the ribs and the brisket were very dry and tough.... we were surprised that they brought the food out to us because it didn’t look appetizing at all. The people were very nice and the ambiance is great, however, we will not return.
Gloria and Leo provide excellent service and the brisket is the best I’ve ever tasted.
The food tasted great the waitor was very helpfull and the staff as well. The only issue was the food took longer than usual.
First time there so further visits are in the cards. Great ambience! The outdoor space is awesome if it weren’t 1000 degrees that day. Definitely would luv to come back for some outdoor dining. The inside was great as well. Rustic with a splash of chic.
As for the food, focus was on smoked meats and the smoked turkey I had was excellent. I didn’t have the sandwiches but I hear they were great. The smoked salmon app was disappointing. Dry, with little smoky flavor. Seemed over cooked to me. Was served with toast points, capers, pickled onions and some type of aioli which it needed for moisture. The toast points were crouton consistency so that didn’t help.
Do highly recommend the brisket queso. Ridiculously unhealthy; I should’ve ordered two!
They also serve kombucha on tap, so if you’re into that, it’s definite plus!
Lovely aesthetics. There for Father's Day with my family. Best ribs we've ever had!
Excellent one of my favorite restaurants! I highly recommend Smoky Rose great food great service and friendly staff.
Dinner with family friends. Deviled eggs are great as is the queso. I ordered the chicken dish w black eyed peas and greens. It was very bland and the chicken was over cooked-perhaps bc the chicken breast was on the small side (even for farm raised/organic variety standards). Others has bbq which was liked by some, not-so-much by others.
It’s a nice atmosphere and the drinks are good. This was my second visit, went early on and was underwhelmed. But I was giving it another try because it’s in the neighborhood and our friends wanted to try it. I think it’s great for drinks and the appetizers, but not for dinner.
nice spot close to white rock lake...GREAT Margarita on the rocks...good food, not great...pork chop was overdone and service on patio was VERY slow....given how nice the outdoor dinning area is would def give another try
Loved our server, Cheyenne! She gave spot on recommendations. Friendly, polite and felt like we were at home.
The experience was great tho the restaurant treats patrons with dogs like lepers. You are placed at these tables that are at the furtherest perimeter of the property. You are sitting in mud and while everyone else in the restaurant enjoys fans, dog owners sit under umbrellas without any circulating air sweltering under a brutal Dallas summer sun.
We love The Smoky Rose. It’s most definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Dallas. We also love OpenTable. However, we won’t be making our reservations for The Smoky Rose via OT again.
We made reservations earlier and were given the option of patio seating or standard seating. We opted for standard seating since our reservations were set for 615p and it was still set to be 90* or so.
We arrived a little early and decided to have a drink at the bar and wait for our table there. After we finished, we went back to the hostess where they promptly began to escort us to our table. On the patio. Which we specifically requested NOT to have.
We quickly mentioned that we requested standard seating and were told that the standard option on OpenTable means ANY table - wherever it may be - indoors or out.
We were told that we would have to wait another 30-45 minutes for indoor seating - regardless of the fact we had a 615 reservation. Very unhappy experience.
Great patio though when music playing a little loud. Good food and good service.
Love the patio and I always get the beet and goat cheese salad with smoked turkey. My husband had brisket and sweet potato banana mash and loved it all. Their wines on tap are great too!
Went after a mediocre visit a year ago. Its still the same. Slow service from disengaged staff. Food presentation is no better than Dickey's. Quite expensive for what you get as well. Brisket was dry, Turkey and ribs were good though. The only reason I would go back is for the patio for drinks. Disappointing addition to the neighborhood.
Very nice "up-scale" BBQ near Dallas Arboretum. I had tacos, which were basically brisket with a very nice sauce in a soft taco. Very tasty and not over-filling. Fries on the side were fresh and tasty.
Good food, great service.
