Smoke Shack

The Smoke Shack is a hidden bbq gem. The interior of the restaurant has a unique, shacky decor and they even offer outdoor seating in winter with plenty of shelter and patio heaters-SO GREAT!

The food was delicious and we'd recommend "The Count" during their weekend brunch.

If you're a bourbon fan, this is your spot! So many high-quality bourbons to compliment any of your meals.

I shared a 3 meat plate and really enjoyed the food. The ambience was lovely for BBQ and the staff was incredibly friendly.

Nobody was in the restaurant. It made it extremely awkward.

These are the best biscuits *ever*.

I've really enjoyed the spicy Marty McKlucken fried chicken breast as well as the You Fancy-candied pecan, marmalade, Brie and arugula.

With Covid in full force, daughter and I went to Smoke Shack because their drinks looked spectacular and we love the food. We were not disappointed. It was storming but their patio is enclosed. We were the only people seated there enjoying the ambiance of their gas fireplace. It was cold, wet and windy but cozy and warm at our table. As always, the BBQ was great with plenty to take home, though the brisket seemed a bit dryer than usual. The cocktails were outstanding, the smoked old fashioned particularly good...and strong. Covid cautions were evident, right down to the hand sanitizer on the table. Going to try their pop-up brunch next!

Ribs were very dry. Everything else was very good.

Waitress was a bit psyco about the mask mandate. Basically slid our water glasses across the table. Wouldn't come to our table unless we had masks on. I won't be back. Plenty of bbq places in Wisconsin. It was uncomfortable and ridiculous.

Our waitress was so helpful and upbeat. She really went out of her way to make food and drink suggestions. The PORK BELLY was the best. It was my husbands birthday and they put candles in our dessert to top the night. Thank you, we will be back again.

The food was pretty cold, waitress didn’t come around for a long time....we didn’t even end up telling her because she was barely around to do so.

Biscuit brunch was soooo yummy! Great big biscuits, crunchy outside and soft inside. Excellent meal for the first time dining out in 7 months! They did a great job of spacing tables, separators, masks, etc. Felt very safe.

We were told this was the best BBQ in Milwaukee and were so excited! We must have had an off-night!? (we hope) because we did not enjoy our Pulled Pork at all. Also, the server was so incredibly rude to us, it was so confusing - from the moment of walking in. She was so annoyed that we didn’t immediately know what we wanted to drink and eat, like, relax we’ve never been here - can I look at the menu first?

Odd experience at a place that is supposedly very good. Can’t say we’d ever go back or recommend it after this experience.

Amazing BBQ and really well priced. Drinks were also great so you can’t go wrong here. A must place for any BBQ lover in Milwaukee.

As a vegetarian I appreciate having options at a BBQ restaurant! Great food, friendly staff. Sat outside in heated tent next to the fire.

Food now bad but definitely not great. Ordered a full rack of ribs and thry are definitely not tender or fall off bone- had to use force to pull apart. None of the meat (our table had all of it) was very flavored. Mac N cheese very blah. Hottest item and the most flacorful was the Chipotle corn. Was never offerred refills, waiter did not come back except once right after food came. Had to wait around before getting boxes and bill then about 10 min before card came back. Nice that they allow pets though. Sweet tea tasted like blandemon water.

Food was amazing. Loved the ambiance inside the restaurant. Service was very good. We stopped by for drinks and appetizers, but we will definitely be back for a full meal in the future.

We appreciated outdoor dining with cover, as rain was expected. The ribs were exactly what I had been dreaming about and the sides of slaw and sweet potato fries was good. Our server was very pleasant but we asked to not have our meals served quickly as we wanted to visit, and they came out very quickly. We also had to signal another server to attract attention, as the butter we had requested was forgotten - but it was a holiday and she could have been busy.

Great service all around. Very attentive hostess, server and another gentleman who checked in during our meal. The Brew City Biscuits were delicious. I preferred the Kentucky hot chicken biscuit my husband ordered over my honey butter chicken biscuit, but they were both very good.

We attended the first weekend for the Brew City Biscuits Pop Up hosted at the Smoke Shack. It was a beautiful day, we got to sit outside, and out server and the hostess were very nice. Our biscuit sandwiches were very tasty but our food did not arrive at our table hot. It was still a bit warm, but it was clear that it had sat for awhile before being delivered to our table, which made a big difference. We very politely let the server know this when she asked how everything was and she said she would tell the kitchen; but it would have been nice if they had offered to make it right somehow. We would definitely give it another chance in the future, but we are not in a hurry about it. I am sure they will get the kinks worked out.

My mistake. I didn’t research restaurant rules before booking a table outside. Marcus’s rules regarding guest masks ruined our entire dining experience. We will not return if policy doesn’t change. Ridiculous to require all diners to put on, take off, put back on masks constantly. Deliver my bottle of beer instead of interrupting the entire table’s meal to request everyone put masks back on while seated. There are many other choices to dine especially in the suburbs where rational safety is implemented. We are avoiding all Bartolottas venues for same reasons until this excessive mask nonsense is ended. What a shame!

Meat had absolutely no flavor

Great food, great service, great attention to Covid precautions. A very nice place to meet friends outdoors for dinner. And for those who have to have it, there is fish fry in addition to barbecue on Friday night!

It must have been a busy weekend as they ran out of brisket and sausage. They comped our drinks so it turned out to be a great day. We love the Smoke Shack and will return.

Food was spectacular. As was our server. We had a variety of foods and most people shared, and she recommended excellent drinks. The only weird part was the masks. The host said we had to wear masks to walk from the entrance to the patio, or to the bathroom, but not if we were sitting at the bar, or at a table. Other than that, it was excellent!

This was our first time at the Smoke Shack. Surprised at how small restaurant is! Because of limited number of tables, reservations are almost mandatory. Depending on number of people you may feel somewhat cramped or claustrophobic, I suppose one could say it’s intimate. Not a good place to bring a large group. It tended to be on the noisy side, however once seated it was OK. Now, for the main attraction, the bbq. Our group is avid bbq fans and Smoke Shack didn’t disappoint! They do it right. Quality meats that are well cared for. Meat is dry rubbed and smoked. Sauce yourself at the table. Four types of sauce provided. Simply some of the best bbq we’ve ever had! Two appetizers and sampler platter served 4 adults and let us try everything. It was all 5+ stars. As the night progresses they may run out of some meats which is common at good bbq places. Don’t worry, it’s all good. Pleasantly surprised and happy to have found my home for the best bbq in MKE.

We thought the food was excellent. The service as very good. We were lucky enough to have the smoked ribs. We will definitely go back again soon.
