For the last 18 years, Joe Hennes and his wife Ellen have been building a family-oriented meeting place for friends to gather at Sloppy Joe's Saloon and Spoon in Hubertus. In December 2020, they purchased this property, and brought the philosophy of food, fun, and laughter from Washington County to Lake Country. They renamed the property Smoke on the Water to reflect the revamped menu which includes a large selection of home-smoked meat items. Open jams, live music, karaoke and fun events are already a regular part of the experience.

And after a decade of the lower level sitting vacant, they just launched "Below Deck," a brand new state of the art banquet facility and live music venue that accommodates about 250 people.

Whether arriving by land or sea, you'll enjoy Lake Country's best lake-vibe barbecue, cocktails, live music & friends.

We went there for the Chilean Sea Bass but I guess it has been eliminated for the summer. That was a disappointment, but all food ordered was good.

Awesome atmosphere! I typically hate eating outdoors but Smoke on the Water is the exception. The view was beautiful. The food was pretty good. However, our server was god awful and seemed to be only paying attention to everyone around us. We were checked on every 30 minutes (being generous).

Large menu to choose from. Had 5 different entrees in our group. Everyone’s food was delicious, some more than we could finish and served promptly and with a smile. Will definitely be back!

Overall - lovely! It was a beautiful night and we at outside. The brisket was killer and the roasted potatoes can’t be beat. Everyone was super friendly and it made for an enjoyable outing!

Great setting for a brunch but food was cold. I know it’s hard to keep everything hot throughout the day but someone should be always just making sure food stays hot and pans stay full. Wasn’t happening.

Bbq was burnt , dry and not seasoned. Burnt ends were simply pulled brisket meat . Did not match what was described in the menu . Drinks were good but a little pricey.

Beautiful view, great food, friendly service. Downstairs is gorgeous. Listened to band after dinner. Garage doors open to lake. Great space.

Pulled pork was fatty. It was very loud. The bar was playing reruns of a golf tournament from 2000! The women’s bath had NO soap. We ordered and 3 people had to change their order because they were out of stuff. Also they fi t serve regular soda product’s. They say it’s Diet Coke but it’s a soda called dang. Horrible.

First time eating here, was in town for wedding Food was very good we had tenderloin sandwiches and fish fry’s we had appetizers tasty but not worth the price so would skip those Only thing disappointing was the service it was busy and I get that but our server seemed to spend more time with local patrons Took a long time for her to take our order and we asked for several basic items like steak sauce and napkins never got them at the end of service she plopped our check down without even asking if we wanted anything else
