Friday - Saturday: 11am - 11pm
Our waiter Mike was attentive and answered our questions. Food was delicious!
Was there for father's day. Always great service and good food. I got the special $1 per spare ribs. Ribs were slightly overcooked and the BBQ sauce was like honey, but they were still good. Mac & Cheese is an all time favorite. Also got the fried pickles for an appetizer - YUM!!
We went to Smoke about a year ago and it was great. We heard there was some kind of change in ownership. Our recent visit was terrible. My husband's brisket was dry and tasteless, my pulled pork sandwich needed a rediculous amount of sauce to be edible and the bun was hard and stale, and our granddaughter's burger came to the table so burned, she couldn't eat it. The waitress offered to replace the burger, but we just wanted to leave by that time. The waitress seemed only marginally concerned, and the manager, whom she said would come talk to us, never did, even though he passed our table several times and was fully aware of the situation. My husband noted there were only about 10 people in the restaurant. How hard could it have been to serve us well? Needless to say, we're not going back and will not recommended this place to our friends/family.
Food has really gone down hill. When this location first opened it was great. Our last visit was a huge disappointment and I doubt we will return. We had smoked wings, burnt ends and a prime rib. Each and every dish was way over salted and the burnt ends were tough. This is the most tender part of the brisket so it should be anything but tough when properly cooked. We were surprised how empty the restaurant was on a Friday night.....maybe a sign of the declining quality or attention to detail.
Good BBQ and good sandwich options. I thought the servings were small for the large size option.
Forgot how good this place was! Our table was waiting for us and our server, Josh, was very attentive. The pulled pork is very good and ask for their extra hot BBQ sauce...it is outstanding! My husband loves their coleslaw, too! Was happy to see they added some tv's. Will definitely return sooner rather than later.
The service was unfortunately poor. On Mother's Day, I should have to ask for a server and search him down to clean my plates. I could have stayed home for that.
Overall the waitress was very friendly, and catered to all of my family... I really enjoyed the food, and wI'll definitely be back!
Overall very good food. Try the Burnt Ends! This is a unique appetizer! The pulled pork and ribs are also very good!
what has happened at this restaurant? Used to be so good. Service very slow. Food not worth the money. Only three tables between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm. Very disappointed.
Great as usual, the brisket is my favorite and I love the sweet potato fries
Our small group met after work to eat before seeing a Movie at the Regal. It was the first time I was there. Everything was very nice. The Hostess was very accommodating with our requests for a table to hold us all. I loved the environment but the best thing was the RIBS. They were the best I ever had. Loved it all. Thanks, k
Mid-week dining was quiet and very pleasant. We had early reservations, so had our choice of seat. Our waiter, Josh, was wonderful. We started with a shared appetizer and then all had sandwiches which were outstanding with 4 different BBQ sauces to choose from. Cider slaw is delicious! Our luck to be there for half-price wine! We'll definitely go back.
Food was very good Had the beef brisket and sausage combination platter with sweet potato fries and baked beans. Girlfriend had the pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese. Service was outstanding. We were not rushed at all even though it was busy. Would definitely go back when we visit the area again
We have eaten at Smoke several times and have had many different items. All have been very delicious.
Have been here before and loved their brisket. However this time it was not very tender and had a slice that was almost all fat! How do you not see that when plating? And it was on the bottom. The manager made good and knocked off 50%. Also have ordered the onion straws in the past and this time they were over cooked. If I had not been before Andy knew the food was good I would not go back. I will give it another try someday.
A disappointing meal.
We have dined at Smoke on many occasions and most of the time it was great.
However, the service was terrible for this visit. We ordered the fried pickles and although they were not crispy due to not cooked long enough, they were very tasty.
We ordered salads with our entrees and specifically told the server to pace out the service of the salads and meals. Actually told her that we have received salads with our entrees in the past and we did not want them All at the same time. She said she would of course take care of that. Five minutes later, other servers brought salads to our table followed one minute later by the entrees. When our assigned server came by to check in with us, we told her that all the food arrived together and she merely said she told the kitchen not to and took no responsibility.
So I'm wondering who is in charge of the pace of eating meals here ?
I don't think the customer is !
I have given this a 5 star rating every time we have eaten here. I have dropped the rating because our burnt ends were not served warm. However, tasty as always.
I was happily surprised that we were seated immediately upon arrival even though the place was packed. I thought that even though we had a reservation we would have some sort of wait. But we did not!! Also pleasantly surprised that even though the place was so busy - our service was impeccable!! And to top it all off the food was AMAZING!!
Every item we ordered was very good! We had the burnt ends (yiunhave to get them), corn muffins, deviled eggs. Mine was so good I'm not even sure what the others ordered. We did have some troubles with our waiter. He was nice when he came over to us but that wasn't often. We watched our drinks sit at the end of the bar for over 15 minutes. Ran out of water. And the surprising thing is they didn't seem to be that busy.
We will definitely be back because of the food and hopefully it was just an off night for service.
Went to Smoke before a movie. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was good. We had 5 kids between two families which always adds complications, but our waiter was very nice and accommodating. The menu had plenty of options to make everyone happy.
Good place for a casual dinner out.
Went here for date night. We had a reservation and were going to be seated in a terrible location of the restaurant. We decided to sit at a high table near the bar. They are first come first served. Our server took our drink order and this was nearly the only time we saw him. The food was decent for BBQ, the service was not up to my expectation.
Food was very good. A bit pricey! Decent value for portion size. Service was mediocre at best. Server very giggly! Didn't really appear that anyone particularly cared whether we were there or not. Just another table turn. Would go back with lower expectations.
Was our 2nd time there and we really loved it both times! The employees and our server were all great and the food it SO good!!! Highly recommend!
Normally I like Smokes. However, my chicken plate was supposed to have slaw and a side. The slaw was about a tbsp. and the portion of chicken was very small and had a lot of fat. I was very disappointed.
Made reservations but still had to wait 30 mins to be seated. We were taken to a table with 6 chairs then told sorry this is for another party and had to go back to the front and wait. We had come for the prime rib and the restaurant was out of prime rib. I got pork barbeque which had a lot of fat in it. Service was good. Fried pickles were good. Not sure if it was worth a secon trip though
This was not our first visit to SMOKE Modern BBQ, but this recent family dinner to celebrate a birthday on a Saturday night did not turn out to be a good one. We made our reservation through OpenTable and we were seated within 15 min. of the confirmed reservation time -- that's reasonable on a busy Saturday night in Charlotte, so far so good. We ordered the bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizer (delicious) along with a nice bottle of Argentinian Malbec, so we were off to a good start. Unfortunately, that's when things started going 'south'...
Our party consisted of 4 people and 3 of us ordered some variation of the BBQ brisket (burnt ends, sandwich and plate), which have always been part of our favorites at SMOKE. After about 15 min. the manager shows up at our table to let us know that the have run out of brisket for the evening and we would all have to make a new selection and reorder, which we all did. About 3 min. later, one (1) single plate of brisket showed up at our table. We promptly advised the manager that a plate of brisket had 'mysteriously' appeared and that one of the reordered dishes would need to be cancelled. During all of this time, our server was nowhere to be seen. About 15 min. later, the other 3 dishes showed up and by then the plate of brisket was stone cold. We had to voice a complaint to our waiter about the poor coordination and communication between the kitchen and the servers that evening, before the manager agreed to comp us for the brisket plate. While we were ultimately comped for 1 meal, we felt that the issue could have been handled in a much more customer-service oriented manner.
Food was good. They take reservations so we only waited about 5 minutes after we arrived. This was a Saturday night at 7pm and the place was busy and lively. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich and I had a combo plate of pulled pork and baby back ribs. Flavor was excellent with a smokey sweetness to it. Variety of BBQ sauces to choose from to dress it up. It needed sauce because the pulled pork was pretty dry which was disappointing considering the price ($/$$) Dinner for two (two drinks, meals and tip) was $50.00. Macaroni was great as was the creamed spinach. Baby back ribs were "good" but Cheddar's still has the best ribs for the price IMO. May go back but there are plenty of great places to try and I wasn't blown away. Try True Crafted Pizza next door.
Appetizers were great but dinner was a disappointment. I ordered the baby back ribs and they were loaded with way too much pepper. Also, the creamed spinach was cold and bland and the sweet potato fries were cold and soggy. Not sure if that was the cook's fault or our waiters. I doubt we'll go back.
It was very good with friendly server.
My group of 7 senior women enjoyed their lunch with each ordering something differtent. Our waiter was outstanding and very attentive. The only negative was the TV sound which could have had a lower volume because some of our group have hearing problems. In fact there was only one customer at the bar that day who may have been watching it. But all the other customers were there to enjoy the food and conversing with each other. Soft music would be more appreciated for the type of customers that were there that particular day.
Good Service and even better food. This was our first time and we will definitely be back to the restaurant. The banana pudding was awesome so save room for dessert.
Food was a little cold when it arrived, but tasty nonetheless. It is a nice restaurant and we would go back to try other meals.
Had a fabulous time. Food was very good and the service would exceptional!!
Great service and very well prepared food! We will be back.
This was the first time the wife and I ate at smoke. The BBQ was great and the good came to the table hot. The waiter knew his stuff and have us time to enjoy it before asking "how is it". Will be coming back soon with family.
My parents and I had dinner at Smoke and it was our first time there. We enjoyed evrything! We will be going back.
Not much pork with the Pork Mac N Cheese. Additional sides at $4.95 is quite steep. Overall not impressed with the price to portion ratio.
Excellent food and service. Very good value for the money
This was def worth the drive! Our waitress was amazing, food was great, and price was right! We'll be back!
