I found the bar sitting unconfortable and the music charge for same excessive. I do not mind paying a music charge if I was seated at a table. I had too drinks and my bill was $77 without tip. I am a fan of Allan Harris so made the sacfrice but never again a bar reservation. Just saying. My recommendation is with cautions. Quite frankly I preferred the prior policy and food menu when you paid for food package in lieu of music charge and still paid for drinks. My bill Always exceeded $77 but I felt I got my monies worth and great entertainment. You have priced out a whole group of jazz lovers sad to say namely people of color. Sincerely, Gail

The music sets are always incredible. While the sets that are scheduled are incredible, the real treat is the late night sets with musicians who are guests! You have to stay for the late night sessions, thats why I always suggest the last seating.

The ambiance is only bested by the acoustics. A room small enough to feel almost like a living room, featuring giants in jazz who would otherwise be filling a stadium somewhere. Food and service are just fine. That it's in the heart of the Upper West Side at its intersection with the uptown campus of NYU makes Smoke truly perfection.

Smoke is absolutely the best jazz club in NY. The room is extremely intimate, seating only 60 people at tables. The music is world class. The audience is respectful and quiet when the set starts. The food is way, way better than what you would expect in a jazz club. I actually recommend to my friends that they eat at the club as part of the experience. We will definitely be back again and again

Smoke is a great little jazz club on the upper west side, featuring world class musicians seven nights a week. Aside from the amazing music, Smoke offers delicious cuisine, which sets it apart from many other jazz venues. The French Onion soup was a savory and comforting classic, followed by a fresh and well prepared pan seared salmon with a beurre blanc and roasted fingerling potatoes. The wine list is well curated and pairs nicely with the cuisine. Service was friendly and knowledgable. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, setting the stage for a memorable evening. It's always a pleasure to visit Smoke, and I look forward to my next visit!

Smoke is an epiphany. It's as intimate as any club could be with great staff and fabulous music! We were there for a birthday, and my girlfriend's favorite sax player, Eric Alexander, happened to be a guest performer with Cynthia Scott's group. We will be back!

Enjoyed our evening, but was very expensive for only one hour of live music we paid $250 for tickets, one entree each and a bottle of wine.
I would visit again but not on one of these time limited table and ticket deals.
We booked a table for 8:30 for the live music at 9pm.
At 10pm even though there were not people waiting to come in we were asked to pay another $20 each to stay,
I think we should have been able to stay if the table was free, we would then have had another drink or maybe desert or coffee. Overall just way too expensive.

Smoke lives and dies with its music. The ambiance is great, the place cozy, but it is the music that makes it pop. The jazz is often great but not always. The day we were there (last Monday October 7, the band was terrific but the best was the jam session that started around 10+ p.m. Many young but also older musicians joined parts of the band or played by themselves. The vibe was amazing and the talents fantastic. The jam sessions are the absolute best.

The food could be a little better, but it is not the food one goes to Smoke for. It is the music. The service is very nice, too.

We enjoyed our time at Smoke. The music, Nicholas Payton Trio, was great!
The food and service were good.
I wish we were seated at a different spot. There was a column blocking the view, and being seated right next to the stage, it was quite loud.
I would definitely come back and sit in the back!
