On vacation and decided to follow up on a recommendation to visit this place. Food was great and the music was fabulous. Really enjoyed it!
A unique and characteristic New York jazz club. Wonderful experience
Once a favorite jazz venue, we come less and less. Music is still generally excellent but the food is just awful. Low quality ingredients badly prepared. Last Friday night, we had very greasy fried chicken, another dish we won’t repeat. But we’re running out of choices. Some time ago, we were happy with an edible hamburger but that’s been discontinued. Fortunately Manhattan has other jazz clubs with palatable offerings.
Great music, good food!
My girlfriend is a jazz musician and was extremely excited to attend - the venue is amazing, the only issue I had was the food. It was beyond tasteless, the prefix is a good deal but not when you only end up eating the app because the main course was dry and the dessert tasted like it was made the morning before. I mean the "jalapeno mac & cheese" came out white, there is no reason for that. The singer was amazing, I recommend going on a Wednesday as the Leslie Harrison is amazing. I also recommend eating before you go, the drinks were weak if I did go again I wouldn't order food.
We had a nice time. Thank you.
Please bring back the burger.
IF YOU WANT TO HEAR TOP QUALITY JAZZ IN A VERY INTIMATE SETTING,
SMOKE IS A GREAT PLACE TO GO. THE MUSICIANS PLAY FOR AN HOUR SET, AND AUDIENCE
MEMBERS HAVE THE GOOD SENSE NOT TO YACK AND DISTRACT.
THE FOOD IS ALSO QUITE GOOD.
Mike was amazing. The food was soooo good. This is a great spot!
Geoge Cables trio are superb. Since it was restaurant week, unlike last Monday, this week it was very crowded. Everyone put in their orders at apparently the same time. I arrived at 6 pm, 1 hour before the music began but service was very slow. The portion of the tomato salad with mozzarella cheese was tiny. The main course arrived just before the musicians were seated to perform. I do not want to eat while they are performing; I like to focus on the music. I requested to be served before the music started but instead had to rush my dining. Not healthy and not enjoyable. It was good value since the food helps to pay for the musicians' salaries, but as an aesthetic experience, I enjoyed Aug 5 much more than Aug 12. One would think that the prep work done in the kitchen [slicing tomatoes, cheese, etc] could be completed before the crowd arrives. Perhaps the kitchen did not expect such a large turnout.
Foods and services were great. Friendly environment. Drinks diluted, could hardly taste any alcohol and charged more than it should be.
The band was great but they started talking about politics! I was there to enjoy myself and we spent $300.00 for two people - I don’t appreciate it when the entertainment wants to discuss their views. I asked for the check!!
We really enjoyed Eric Reed's show. And the food and service were terrific.
It was my birthday and it was something different to do. I enjoyed the music but food was nothing out of the ordinary to me. But enjoyed my birthday oversell!
For a mixture of quality food, service and music, it is the best venue in town.
We with my friends from Russia love “Smoke”, it’s very good place to enjoy Jazz and food!
I had such a good time. It had a good vibe, great music, and delicious food.
The Smoke Jazz and Supper Club was a nice place to host our anniversary dinner! Even though we arrived 40 mins before our reservation, they still accommodated us early. The food was delicious! Overall, we were happy we came across this place during our trip.
Went there for restaurant week. Lots of options but nothing really stands out. The hostesses there were not welcoming or friendly maybe needs to be trained properly. The desserts came out 30 mins after when they took away our entrees dishes
Very nice small club, see major talent in small venue. Always courteous hosts, staff, and security. Can sit at bar with coverage charge and purchase minimum or have dinner with show. Slightly elegant, but comfortable.
I took my four children (ages 8, 11, 12, and 14) to watch the George Cables Trio and it was an amazing supper and music experience. Will be back with we are back in NYC! The staff was wonderful and accommodating!
The music, service and food were all stupendous!
Aaron Diehl Trio was incredible; such a wonderful talent; it was a joy to listen his piano along with his bass and drum accompaniment. I hope to see them again.
Go for the world class music, not the cafeteria class food. Whoever runs the kitchen has a weird notion of what works in cooking and serving. Fried chicken pieces arrived in a basket with no place to put the chicken and eat it with a knife and fork, if desired. Ribs were ample, but the knife provided was so dull my partner couldn't cut through the ribs! This isn't a roadside stand, it's a "supper club".
One of the premier jazz clubs in the city. The food is much better than it has to be. The fried chicken is fabulous.
Fun place, great music, great service!
great music and great food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was in NYC for business but wanted something special because it was my 50th birthday. Love jazz so booked a bar seat at Smoke. The bartender was super! She was friendly, attentive. Music was excellent and ambiance was very smooth and cool. I will definitely be back.
Great meal and great music...... Just what we're looking for! Recommended for Jazz lovers!
Cozy intimate jazz and dinner club. The manager set us up at a romantic table in the back. It was perfect for viewing and listening pleasure. The food and drink were fantastic. Much better than the usual jazz bar fare. Had the salmon. Perfectly prepared. Couldn’t have had a enjoyable evening.
Service was good. Table space was a little cramped, but we had a great time nonetheless!
Had a great night with the family over from the UK. What an excellent set from the Eric Alexander quartet, class musicians, they all knocked it out of the park.
One of the best jazz clubs in New York. Wonderful musicians, wonderful food. The staff is very knowledgeable and very helpful. They have jazz 7 nights a week and value for money is top notch. Also as one who drives into the city, I find it pretty easy to find on the street parking, saving 20-40 dollars compared to a lot. Highly recommended.
Awesome music, cozy place and good food.
Great music. Great food. A little uncomfortable with tables so close together - it was difficult to get between the tables to go to the restroom. We would definitely go back on our next trip to NYC.
Great food and music
Great jazz and a very fine atmosphere for listening to jazz. Food was quite good and everyone was quiet during the performance.
I'm never disappointed at Smoke! The acoustics are amazingly excellent and the small club ambiance is rare these days and can't be beat. I highly recommend!
One of the City's great rooms for jazz. The food is good, but that's not why you come. It's a little expensive, but the music is world-class and the ambiance great.
Paid $50 to see an Abbey Lincoln Tribute & the Vocalist performed 1 Abbey Lincoln song. Not happy at
