excellent jazz music
Best time ever! The service, food and of course the music is all amazing! Highly recommend get your tickets and reservations in advance.
The music show was amazing. Not only was the quartet incredibly talented, but they were very engaging as well. The staff was also very attentive and the food tasted great. The restaurant week 3 prix fix meal was well priced for the amount of food received. A great experience overall.
We had a fantastic time! The music was lively, the food was tasty, the service was second to none! Ben was attentive, informative, and pleasant. We will most definitely be back.
Drink prices were hefty. The food was delicious. Seating was tight which is why i gave it a 4 star. Mood was calming. Much needed.
Food really disappointing I threw out the fish soup the following day. Good ambience and music very expensive for what you get
It is great and that vibe is to die for 👌amazing
Great food and amazing music in this upper west side jazz club.
The musical show was short - just one hour and if you are coming for the music ( I don't think that there is any justification to come just for the food, which is o.k but nothing special) you might be disappointed.
Small venue with small uncomfortable tables. Great music, good food with attentive service. A nice place to spend a couple of hours but over priced.
Top Jazz artists and good food.
Great food and service. Incredible show. Something you’d pay top dollar for in a downtown venue in an intimate supper club.
Truly world class artists.
Absolutely. The jazz talent appearing here are all must-sees, best in class.
The food and cocktails are really good, much better than expected at a supper club.
If you live in Manhattan, or just visiting, consider yourself lucky to experience live music at this kind of intimate venue.
The combination of great music, good food and attentive service makes this place a "can't miss" experience.
Food was overpriced for sure. It tastes good but overpriced plates.
I hadn't seen Bill Charlap in several years. OMG!! Bill has been working hard on his chops. He is at least three of the finest jazz pianists I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot. A soulful balladeer, a wild bebopper with total clarity, and an amazing technician. Half-pedaling, graceful caress of the notes, cluster chords running as fast as single note lines, fireworks shooting out, whoa! I hope the piano is still OK. All with great spirit -- I laughed out loud several times, couldn't help it. What sheer joyful expression! The one thing that hasn't changed is his repertoire. It takes great confidence to try to bring new life to The Great American Songbook, but he totally succeeded. Probably going back tonight if there's room.
Oh, and the food was also GREAT as always.
Fantastic jazz and really great food. Will deifnitely return here
Vale la pena venire ma solo per la musica perché il cibo è pessimo....100 volte meglio l’hot dog per strada!
Great music but the cover charge is absurdly high. Prix fixe menu was also overpriced, and there was only one entree available for vegetarians, which was awful. Our waitress was unfriendly to the point of rudeness. She was constantly rushing us, trying to remove our plates before we had finished eating.
Food really was not too great. No bread with dinner. The NY strip steak advertised on menu online was not available, and this made it very hard for me to find something that suited my food allergies. I go out of my way to find restaurants that offer food that I can eat without fear, and when they do not hold to the menus posted online, it is a real problem. I effectively ate nothing but a bit of salad for my $45 (+tip) required meal because of this. I will not go back again because of the food issues. The jazz and ambiance was stellar.
Smoke is my favorite jazz club in NYC. The food is reasonably good, the atmosphere is intimate and festive and the music (most important) is very well curated. I have never experienced a performance that I didn't really like - if not absolutely love. Best, even though the seating is a bit tight, one doesn't feel squashed in next to others like so many other jazz clubs in New York. I also really like that iIf you have not been, go. You won't be disappointed.
The place is nice and the music was good, but the food is nothing special and service is quite slow.
This is a jazz club and the food is definitely secondary. It is tiny, intimate, crowded. The dinner prices are high and the food is just okay. But when we were there the music was magical and so the rest didn’t matter much.
This was my first time to a jazz bar/restaurant and it was fantastic! The food, service and music was phenomenal. It's pricey but I'd recommend anyone wanting a unique jazz experience to go!
This is a wonderful place to listen to Jazz. At only about 50 seats, with a lovely house Steinway Grand and a fine sound system, this is magical. It is a true listening experience - the audience is quiet and respectful.
The food is excellent, and a prix-fixe dinner is well-priced for the quality and quantity.
The music charge is high, but then again you don't always get to be so close to great jazz stars.
The only negative is that, because the venue is small and the demand high, each set is very strictly timed to an hour, and then you are politely but firmly asked to vacate!
Visiting NY after moving to Florida.
Though the music at Smoke is vital and the presentation is excellent, the cost on Christmas Day was akin to thievery. My wife and I attend many shows and dinners at so a variety of clubs throughout the city, but have never known of one to jack up prices like this. I reserved a table for us for the prefix advertised as $45 per head. We enjoyed the meal and with it two cocktails each. The bill came to $307. When we looked over the receipt, we noted that we were charged for each ingredient in the drinks—but we were given no options when ordering. It was Christmas and the waitress was working hard, so I didn’t argue and she got a nice tip, however, I will never return to Smoke for an evening like this. FYI the bill is very different at the Jazz Standard, Kitano, Joes Pub, Minton’s and other clubs that serve meals. I’m extremely disappointed in Smoke.
Club très chaleureux, excellents musiciens, personnel très attentif.
Je recommande vivement pour les amateurs de jazz
It's one of my favourites in NYC, the best music, good food and service, people always kind !
I have been to Smoke many times and continue to love this supper club. The music is always superb, the staff efficient and the ambiance to die for. “Hats off to Smoke”.
Great live music, delicious food and ambiance
Nice place, with good music and good food. we spend a excellent night.
Over time Smoke has become more and more expensive. I used to go often, especially when dinner was optional, but now the music charge coupled with the cost of food and drinks comes to well over $100/person. The place is still full when I go, so I guess they decided to focus on more affluent clientele.
Smoke is really great. We go several times a year. It’s the real MCCoy and they are very cordial. Just go!!
Best place for Jazz!
Great food and very welcoming, friendly and hospitable staff.
Love the music 🎶. Service is good. The rest is unimportant to me.
The individual musicians are each in a class of their own and together they make great music. They are the backbone of Smoke.
The best jazz club I’ve ever been so far!! The venue, the music, people. It couldn’t be better. It was super romantic as well!!!!
My father and I had great time. It was my Xmas present to him. He's big jazz buff so I was hoping and praying he enjoyed. Was an overall success
Really wonderful experience! Such a cozy spot and the music was fantastic! The food was good, but not amazing. Definitely worth the Pre fix menu pricing though! Will be returning!
I did not order food there but the drinks were good, also loved the jam session! Definitely one of my favorite parts of visiting Nee York!
