Great music Jazz Local. But NOT a place to have dinner. Overpriced.
People were friendly, the staff was attentive, the food was outstanding and the entertainment was incredible. I highly recommend Smoke Jazz!
One of the best jazz clubs in NYC - and definitely the best food...
Smoke is a great little jazz club on the upper west side, featuring world class musicians seven nights a week. Aside from the amazing music, Smoke offers delicious cuisine, which sets it apart from many other jazz venues. The French Onion soup was a savory and comforting classic, followed by a fresh and well prepared pan seared salmon with a beurre blanc and roasted fingerling potatoes. The wine list is well curated and pairs nicely with the cuisine. Service was friendly and knowledgable. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, setting the stage for a memorable evening. It's always a pleasure to visit Smoke, and I look forward to my next visit!
Great way to get a taste of new York jazz scene. Small and cozy atmosphere, very close to the band sittings. have a special night, bring someone to the show.
Fantastic place to hear great jazz, and the food is really good, too!
Wow, outstanding--if in New York and even a slight fan of Jazz this is the place. Get there early and sit right up front. Exceptional. Don't expect much from the food and service though. Good at best.
One of the wonderful intimate jazz clubs in NY. The quality of the musicians we’ve seen there is impressive. Pretty good food too.
Amazing! Celebrated my birthday and was great!!
Will definatly come again!
Awesome jazz, acoustics, and food!!
Went to see Chris Washburne’s Rags and Roots group and was blown away. I go to a lot of jazz shows and this was one of the best I’ve seen.
We celebrated our recent engagement and we were truly treated like royalty. The live music was of the highest standard and the food was just beautiful. The staff went the extra mile and beyond. An amazing way to celebrate our engagement which we will remember forever
I didn't understand why they ask if it is a special occasion. I mentioned it was my birthday. This information has not been taken into account. Why to ask if the information is not used?
Smoke is an epiphany. It's as intimate as any club could be with great staff and fabulous music! We were there for a birthday, and my girlfriend's favorite sax player, Eric Alexander, happened to be a guest performer with Cynthia Scott's group. We will be back!
A superb evening - Leslie was amazing! Great food and hospitality too
Cool place. Good Jazz. Short Show. Overpriced. Ok food.
Enjoyed our evening, but was very expensive for only one hour of live music we paid $250 for tickets, one entree each and a bottle of wine.
I would visit again but not on one of these time limited table and ticket deals.
We booked a table for 8:30 for the live music at 9pm.
At 10pm even though there were not people waiting to come in we were asked to pay another $20 each to stay,
I think we should have been able to stay if the table was free, we would then have had another drink or maybe desert or coffee. Overall just way too expensive.
Fantastic show and service! Special attention given to my son on his birthday. Relaxed atmosphere for preshow conversation. Interesting cocktail choices and great food.
Fabulous time with divine Jazz
Musicians -the top
Vocalist from Heaven
in addition the food was great.
For me, a great place to hear jazz. Food good not exceptional. Quiet. Cozy ambiance.
Great Music, much better than the food. Johnnie O'neil is a star
Expensive but well worth the cost, I would definitely go again
Took my mother to Smoke for her 80th birthday. Staff made her feel wonderful and the music was perfect. Kudos all around.
Smoke lives and dies with its music. The ambiance is great, the place cozy, but it is the music that makes it pop. The jazz is often great but not always. The day we were there (last Monday October 7, the band was terrific but the best was the jam session that started around 10+ p.m. Many young but also older musicians joined parts of the band or played by themselves. The vibe was amazing and the talents fantastic. The jam sessions are the absolute best.
The food could be a little better, but it is not the food one goes to Smoke for. It is the music. The service is very nice, too.
We enjoyed our time at Smoke. The music, Nicholas Payton Trio, was great!
The food and service were good.
I wish we were seated at a different spot. There was a column blocking the view, and being seated right next to the stage, it was quite loud.
I would definitely come back and sit in the back!
It was a good idea to visit Smoke Jazz cafe last Saturday.
Tasty food and amazing Jazz band.
Enjoyed the Nicholas Payton trio and the food. Wait staff was very nice
Just looking for a nice dinner place with quiet jazz. Food was ok but overpriced. Jazz was way too loud and gave me a headache. Not worth what the night cost us.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The music was great and its a great date night place. The drinks are also great with fully stocked bar. It is about an hr to an hr and 15 mins of live jazz. My only issue is that the club is small and packed. Also the food is great but the portion sizes are too small. So you should definitely eat before you attend if you have a late reservation. 4/5 stars
We had a great time... loved the food and the music
One of the very best jazz venues in NYC (or anywhere!). Great food too.
My colleagues and I had a wonderful dinner at Smoke. The live jazz was outstanding and we will be back!
When we sat down the ambiance was wonderful.
We were very excited until we received the food.
Not appetizing - seem to be in a hurry to feed us - main course
came out while we were still eating appetizer. Very small tables
used very large plates.
Wasn't the best.
The music and entertainment were outstanding - would come again
to sit at the bar and not eat.
Very nice but too expensive. Tables are too close to one and other,
Best jazz spot in the city, and the food has been upgraded as well.
Great restaurant and performance.
A small place and (homely feel) with great and comfort food along with a great jazz band that completes the overall atmosphere.
We enjoyed it very much.
Menu was a bit pricey for a relatively mundane food selection
Lezlie Harrison was amazing. Awesome night. Great energy!
