Smoke Door Lake Tahoe Saryo is a Japanese-inspired restaurant using primitive wildfire cooking methods highlighting seasonal ingredients from Japan and the Tahoe region.

Our Executive Chef, Tyler Burges, hails from notable restaurants such as Michael Mina, Angler, and the esteemed Saison and is driven by seasonality and innovation.
Nestled in the breathtaking surroundings of Lake Tahoe, it offers an unforgettable dining experience with views of the open kitchen and wood-burning hearth.

Good and service was amazing. There wasn’t one misstep. The wagyu and caviar courses were amazing, but the sweet shrimp on sourdough was definitely the show stopper. Every course was thoughtfully prepared and presented. The beverage pairings actually enhanced the meal, which in my experience is not often the case. This was definitely one of the best dining experiences I’ve had and was the perfect way to celebrate a milestone anniversary. If you have the opportunity, don’t pass it up.

The food was delicious- beautifully presented with surprising and unique flavors. The drinks pairing was also terrifically selected and worked perfectly with the food. Lovely and enjoyable, however, quite pricey.

I’ve been following smoke door on IG for about a year and the space is as inspiring as the plates. So thankful it’s @ the lake & we were making plans to return during the meal. We will definitely be back.

The food was ok as was the service. For the price point the experience and food did not meet our expectations. Some dishes were good but none were exceptional and some were subpar. Overall would not recommend the 10 course menu

Very unusual, layered flavors and textures. Ingredients fresh fresh fresh! Service is great. A truly deliceous and interesting dining experience. Smoked vodka ! Who knew?

Japanese food is our favorite, so my husband and I were looking forward to eating at this restaurant. We both ordered the 10-course seasonal dinner and were both disappointed... We both enjoyed the Avacado Toast, Touoshu Fish, Donabe Rice and Amazake Ice Cream. But we found the Grouper to be dry and overcooked. The 40-hour Crispy Pork Belly did not melt our mouths as expected, and the Wagyu beef was chewy. And I'm not sure why the Golden Ostera Caviar slathered in a tasteless gelatin and served on top of split peas? Other reviews stated the caviar was served with Tofu which would have been better. But the mixed drinks were very good, and the service was excellent. Our dinner and drinks came to over $600, so I'm sorry that our meals weren't exceptional.
