Smiths was born in the heart of the pandemic, founded by brothers Theo and Sebastian with one goal in mind: to bring bold, unforgettable flavour to the Cotswolds. Nestled in the postcard-perfect village of Bourton-on-the-Water. Affectionately known as the Venice of the Cotswolds—we’ve carved out a name for ourselves with gourmet burgers that pack a punch.

2025 marked a major milestone as we proudly took 3rd place at the National Burger Awards—a nod to the passion, graft, and flavour-forward thinking we put into every bite.

Our intimate 30-seat restaurant offers a stripped-back, honest dining experience, where quality is king. We’ve partnered with award-winning butchers Aubrey Allen to source dry-aged beef with just the right fat ratio. Combined with our punchy flavour pairings, every burger delivers serious impact. The buns? Handmade fresh each morning by Marks Cotswold Bakery, using locally milled Cotswold flour from regional farmers. Every element tells a story—and it starts here.

    This is now a firm favourite. Consistently great burgers and lovely and polite service from attentive staff. All this on a very hot day. So big up to the chefs behind the scenes obviously in an uncomfortable kitchen for our eating pleasure. Legends x

    Easily the best burger we have had, the sides were amazing and the service was extremely quick and friendly. Would happily recommend Smiths to anyone.

    The best burgers we’ve ever eaten! And the slaw was perfect too. They also had really nice gluten free buns for me, they all looked homemade and didn’t have that weird gluten free taste like most other ones do. We’ll defo be back!

    I’ve been here four times and always loved it, but my recent visit was disappointing. The chicken was dry and burnt, the £20 double whiskey and coke was overpriced, and the new menu is a letdown—removing favourites like the blue cheese burger and cookie dough. The Classic burger was still great, but overall it feels like things are going downhill.
