Smiths was born in the heart of the pandemic, founded by brothers Theo and Sebastian with one goal in mind: to bring bold, unforgettable flavour to the Cotswolds. Nestled in the postcard-perfect village of Bourton-on-the-Water. Affectionately known as the Venice of the Cotswolds—we’ve carved out a name for ourselves with gourmet burgers that pack a punch.

2025 marked a major milestone as we proudly took 3rd place at the National Burger Awards—a nod to the passion, graft, and flavour-forward thinking we put into every bite.

Our intimate 30-seat restaurant offers a stripped-back, honest dining experience, where quality is king. We’ve partnered with award-winning butchers Aubrey Allen to source dry-aged beef with just the right fat ratio. Combined with our punchy flavour pairings, every burger delivers serious impact. The buns? Handmade fresh each morning by Marks Cotswold Bakery, using locally milled Cotswold flour from regional farmers. Every element tells a story—and it starts here.

Burgers was absolutely fantastic 10/10. Chicken Strips was a little dry but the flavours was there for sure. Fries was average for the £4.50 price point. Could do with improving the sauce selection though!!! Cheap mayo is a let down in a street food joint! Overall not a bad experience. Cider was delicious. Service charge £7.50 for basically bringing you food & drink is a bit steep.

We had a fantastic meal at Smiths of Bourton! The burgers were absolutely amazing — juicy, perfectly cooked, and packed with a delicious mix of flavours, you can really tell they put thought into every ingredient. The atmosphere was great, the staff were friendly and welcoming — and we even got to say hello to two pretty, fluffy cats! A real gem

We needed somewhere that was safe my son to eat, he needs Gluten free. I searched on some coeliac Facebook pages and many people recommended Smiths. When we got there we were listened to and taken seriously. The waiter took our order and came back a few minutes later to say that something containing gluten had accidentally been dropped into the gluten free fryer. That meant that the tots were unavailable to him, we decided that a double burger in GF bun was the way to go. I can’t express how much I value their honesty. The food was an absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was perfect. It’s a little hidden gem in a beautiful place. The staff are so polite and clued up. I will definitely be back when we visit the Cotswolds again and I will posting on the coeliac pages on Facebook to let others know that this place is great for gluten free.

Have now been 3 times since moving up this way!!!!incredible service always a nice greeting from the main man,food is outrageously good it gets better every time...always a great playlist in the background and a really great chilled vibe 😀

Although the restaurant will say I have no proof and I don’t have time for gathering proof, 3 out of 4 of us that had chicken were Ill during the night, bad stomachs, cramps and were unsettled, I tasted the chicken that my son had as he didn’t want it and 1 bite in I knew it didn’t taste right so I put it down and the big black vein running through didn’t sit right, smelt abit funny aswell. My son is too young to tell me it didn’t taste right, my daughter said it tasted abit funny and then my partner agreed it wasn’t the best quality. My burger was good, partners burger was good but the kids chicken strips meal were not good and coming in at £80+ for 2 kids, 2 adults meals I expected better. Won’t be returning, thankyou.
