Enjoy a quiet romantic dinner by candlelight overlooking the marina and marshes beyond, have dinner on the deck, or reserve our Private Dining Room for a special occasion or business dinner.
Birthday for our daughter
The front entrance was directly near the Men's room and that's all you smelled. The water front window view was blocked by large white deck furniture not even being used. The fish taco's were overpowered with LIME and should be called lime taco's. The fried softcrab was over done. The meatloaf was like an old burger patty just thicker. Our table of four agreed that the only good food was the crab dip appetizer. The waitress was very good. The room was old, dated, and dirty. This place is an old washed up "use-to-be"
The crab dip appetizer was wonderful, as were the pita chips and fruit that came with it. We split a broiled dinner, and were somewhat disappointed with the fish portion, especially. There could have been some seasoning. Our server was delightful and overall we had a great anniversary dinner.
Lovely setting and friendly staff are definite advantages of this restaurant. The Friday evening we were there was very busy and the food and service was slow. My fish was dry. The value for the price was not good.
We arrived for a 2:00 reservation, were seated quickly but had no service at all until 2:25 when we asked someone to please get us drinks. The servers were wonderful, but we overheard one tell another table that other servers who had been there left at 2:00. It was Memorial Day and unfortunately that left them understaffed. We were both hungry and thirsty when we arrived and staff was spread too thin. Disappointing as we had a guest with us, and had really looked forward to sharing our second visit to the restaurant with them.
If you dont mind a longer than usual wait for service then you wont mind this place. The food was delicious though highly priced but I guess you pay for the view. We weren't in a hurry since we were there for the night. It really is a nice place.
Although I was a bit displeased with my meal (too much grit in the scallops), I would still recommend the restaurant. With fresh seafood, it isn’t unusual to find a few bones or pieces of shell. However, this time the scallops were just not properly cleaned. I am glad it happened with my entree and not of our guests.
Great brunch, so much food. Typically a buffet isn't that great, but this was one of the best brunch I have
went for lunch- great fresh food with great service
Great service and food.
My wife and I visit, eat and stay for our anniversary every year. The food, service and captive views keep us coming back! My wife gets the same thing to eat every year (top sirloin w/ shrimp scampi). I don't blame her, it's cooked to perfection every time. She leaves nothing on the plate...and she doesn't even care for shrimp! I try something different each time we visit, with the exception of the crab soup (best I've ever had). I have not been disappointed yet! Everything is cooked fresh and always flavorful! The place is usually pretty busy, but we did not wait at all to be seated. The food also came out faster than I expected. I wish I lived in Smithfield so that I could eat here more often, but we are already looking forward to next year. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!
Server could have been more knowledgeable about specials and smiled more
Everything we ate was delicious and the atmosphere was so nice. We ate there a few times during our stay at Smithfield Station and the outside dining was beautiful at sunset.
Another wonderful lunch. Started with fried oysters for appetizers, followed with flounder topped with Smithfield ham and crab with key lime pie for dessert. Service by Kimberly was great.
Good casual spot for fresh seafood. Fun bar, always great service and setting with beautiful view of the Pagan river.
Great for brunch! Terrific view of the water!
A very popular restaurant so you may want to avoid on weekends and holidays or be prepared for a noisy crowd and understandably slower service. Reservations are available through Open Table which I would highly recommend.....But the food is always great and especially this time of year...my favorite season, soft shell crab season!
I have made reservations on OpenTable for the Smithfield Station for the past few years and had not had any issues until 5/11/19. They had already given my table to another group and host accused me of making my reservation at another local restaurant. I was born and have lived my entire life in Smithfield, VA, so I don't think I would get confused about which restaurant I made a reservation at. Our group was seated right away, but it took 1 hour, 20 minutes to get our food - and that was only after I spoke to the hostess and then the owner about the lack of service. When the food arrived, the waitress had neglected to put in the order for two members of my party, so that was another 10-15 minutes coming out. I wasn't looking for a free meal, even after the horrible service, but the owner didn't even offer a discount on a $200 tab. I will not eat at the Smithfield Station again...and I will make sure all of my friends and family are aware of this disgraceful experience. I am on the board of a non-profit group that has used the Station to cater our fundraising events in the past. If I have any say, they will not get our business again.
First I’d like to say that our waitress was fantastic. She went out of her way to find something my very picky 4 year old would eat and was really great. However, after we had waited a while for our food, she came out to tell us that when the seared scallops my husband ordered were ready, the owner decided they looked really good and TOOK my husbands meal to eat himself. I felt not only angry that an owner would do something like that, but also had for her that she had to explain why we had to wait even longer for our meal and tried to make excuses for her badly mannered boss. Won’t be going back there, despite her fantastic service.
It is a quaint and cozy place friendly staff and such beautiful little town you could hear your self thinks. The food was good and fresh
On side note did not care for the Rockefeller’s oyster they were dry but over all 👍👍
Excellent food and service. Will definitely return if in the area.
I Totally Loved every moment.
Took my Husband to stay for his birthday and got the Romance package. It was Beautiful, Relaxing and so serene. My Husband was extremely happy. His Birthday getaway a Success. Dinner was Delicious!! The Room was Perfect!! The Service and atmosphere was amazing.
We went for a special event. I expected it to be a straight seafood restaurant, and they surely had plenty of seafood options. However, the server said their beef was alway excellent, so we went in that direction (however my beef had crab on it). True to her word, the beef was EXCELLENT. All the food was very good. We were not rushed through our meal and the server was delightful and attentive without being annoying. dress code was lax, as it is a small town. We will definitely be back, and soon.
Restaurant was loud and crowded. We started with the crab dip appetizer which was excellent. I had the seafood Norfolk. Scallops were small, could have used more lump crab and the butter was soupy. My wife had the calabash fried oysters which were good. Our friend had the sirloin which was tasteless. Service was slow through out the night with glasses not being filled etc. Depending on what you order it can be good or so-so.
I have been going to Smithfield Station
for many years and it never fails to please with its quality food and service! The only problem the day I was there is the she crab soup was much too salty! I was there the week before and it was perfect!!!!
We sat outside. It was very peaceful. The food was great
Customer service is superb!!! Atmosphere is awesome!!! Food is wonderful!!!! One of my all time favorites!!!!
Easter Sunday lunch and had their specials, broiled salmon and 12oz prime rib. Both were excellent!
Went to dinner for my Dads birthday. I most every seat In restaurant has an water view. It also had a bar so this is a good spot for a special occasion or to pop in and grab a drink.
You have very good food for the average person. But for a vegan, like myself. not so much. I could not order the Vegetable Soup (it was made with chicken stock), or the green beans (it had bacon), or the other veggies (loaded with butter). I got the Power Salad. It was very good, but not much "Power" i.e. protein. Just a little seeds in it. For more protein it should have more seeds or beans. Edamame beans would have been great in that salad.
Well worth the price. The server was very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the specialty drink--"Hamhattan" that gave us a laugh and picture. Overall, a good choice and OpenTable was easy to use and we were seated right on time.
The food and service was great!
I took my wife for her Birthday on last weekend and we both loved it! Great food, atmosphere, and service! It took me about 5 minutes just to decide on what I wanted. All of the menu options sounded scrumptious!
Lovely restaurant overlooking the Pagan river. Service was great and food delicious.
Great view of the Pagan river! Menu had a wide choice.
Took my sweetheart here for our anniversary and made the reservation via open table days ahead of time. I even made a special request to have a single red rose on the table for the event.
This restaurant is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from our home. But, this restaurant in the past has been worth the drive because of the great food and beautiful views of the water. When we arrived, we told the hostess that we had reservations and I requested at table with a view of the water and the hostess said “I may have one in the bar!” I nodded that this would be okay and she returned a short while later to say there wasn’t any tables left with a view. She sat us along side an interior wall. At the table they sat us, we found no single red rose. Our young & inexperienced waitress was pleasant, but her lack of experience was obvious. We ordered a Beet Salad to share, but it came with no beets or dressing and a skimpy portion of pistachios. We told our waitress and she went back to the kitchen to fetch the ingredients. When she returned with everything, she commented that she’s sorry that we had to build our own salad.
My better half ordered the flounder with fries and it was so greasy that she couldn’t eat it, when she pushed on it with her fork the oil just oozed out of it. She reminded our waitress that her meal was missing hush puppies, which turned out to be lacking flavor and were under done. Our waitress asked if we wanted dessert and we said that we were afraid our desserts would be screwed up, so we said no thanks. All the while we wondered where was the restaurant manager? After paying our check, as we walked out the door, three ladies were leaning against the front desk. One of the ladies dressed in a red top asked how our meal was. To this we both replied “terrible”! She looked surprised as we explained and she said I am sorry! We thanked her and walked out the door. We will have to think twice about coming back , which is a pitty! 😐
My husband enjoyed the seafood dish that he chose, and since I don't eat seafood, I chose a steak
dish. Everything was delicious. My only comment would be that there were few selections for
someone who doesn't eat seafood, or maybe cannot eat it. More choices would be great. The
atmosphere was quiet and unhurried, which was a really nice departure from most restaurants
The food was outstanding, and the server was knowledgeable and friendly, which made the whole experience so pleasant. The view across the river is beautiful and relaxing. It was quiet at 6:00 p.m., but the noise level did increase as the room filled up. All in all a wonderful evening!
While food was delicious, crab soup was entirely too salty. Noise level/ambiance was excellent. I was disappointed on departure while trying to wheel my mother out of restaurant in a wheel chair with my hands full and no member of staff offered to assist. While I managed just fine, it was disappointing to make eye contact with two of your staff associates (no kind offer of assistance) who observed me backing out of the door holding a walker while simultaneously maneuvering a wheel chair with my mother. Please share with your staff the following: " little things matter."
Beautiful venue, great food, wonderful waitress and bar staff.
