Enjoy a quiet romantic dinner by candlelight overlooking the marina and marshes beyond, have dinner on the deck, or reserve our Private Dining Room for a special occasion or business dinner.
Great way to celebrate my birthday with family.
We loved the view and delicious crab dip. It was our first visit and our daughter's first time in Smithfield. Truly a wonderful day.
The view of the river during dinner was beautiful and the food was delicious. Our server was very attentive and friendly and we enjoyed everything about the experience. We are already planning another trip to the area and will definitely make a reservation to eat there again.
It's been about 5 years since I was last at Smithfield Station. On that visit I mad a mental note that I didn't need to go back there again. I had read a couple of good things about the restaurant lately and thought I'd give it another try. Well, once again I have made a mental note that I don't need to go back there again. Nothing horrible, just nothing special. I had the crab soup that came out looking like wallpaper past. The flavor was OK but I'm sure if you threw it against a wall it would stick. It was way too thick. Then I had the fried seafood platter. The scallops were fine, the shrimp was actually close to being good, the flounder was fine and the crabcake was not the least bit interesting. The french fries were nowhere near hot and the hush puppies again were almost good but a little too dry. After that I was certainly full and didn't need to try desert. I'd rather drive 10 or 15 miles to find a nice restaurant than eat again at Smithfield Station because it was convenient.
Had the broiled seafood platter and everything was excellent. Cindy our server was most friendly and efficient. The setting inside and outside was great.
We enjoy our experience at Smithfild Station. Will be back soon ! It was our 52 anniversary and was told this was a nice place 😁
The food and service were fantastic. Pay attention to and select from the local seafood specials. The potato encrusted rockfish ranked high on our list. A definite repeat for us.
The occasion was for my Birthday. This is the first time my husband and I visited and the service was not good. We had to wait at least 30 minutes for the appetizers and 45 minutes before receiving our food.
The scallops were wonderful. I have had them fried & also wrapped with bacon. They were both delicious! The shrimp are very good also. I highly recommend The Smithfield Station. You will be pleased with their food, staff, & prices!
Everything was awesome. Can’t wait to go back soon
We love this place. The staff is excellent, the atmosphere is friendly and inviting. And the food, especially those omelettes, are delicious.
Casual and friendly with delicious food....the low country boil is fresh and perfect.
Father’s Day.....in a nutshell, we were seated 15 min early on the deck per our request. Server only had 1 other table to attend today, and we waited 30 minutes for her to come over. She did apologize saying she just now noticed us. We order a cup of crab bisque which was brought out timely, but had to wait 30 minutes for our fries and flounder sandwiches to be served. By this time it was 2:30, and only 1 new table arrived on the deck, but the previous table were done and left. The food was lukewarm and fries limp from waiting to be severed. My husband has eaten there on several occasions and has always come back raving about the food. I will not make the 90 minute drive again. 3 hours of driving is not worth it.
We were seated close to our reservation time but waited quite awhile for our server to visit the table.
Food was excellent and it was probably due to the busy holiday that the service was not as great as we expected.
We will visit again another not so busy day/time.
Yes, Smithfield Station has been a favorite of our family for many years. We often bring out of town guest to the Station for dinner knowing that it will be a memorable experience.
Our waiter never told us the specials of the day The oyster Rockefeller came out crispy almost burnt we ordered the Rockfish and it was so fishy and so small it was actually awful we had to send it back. I ordered a side salad there was almost no lettuce mostly shredded cheese. For the price you pay do you want an ample amount of quality food. Over all the food is not even average.
Quite disappointing because I’ve been wanting to go there for a very long time and was very disappointed
The staff was very friendly and attentive even though they were quite busy. We ate on the deck which was very nice. The food and drinks were tasty and while it wasn’t cheap, the quality and serving size was well worth the price. We’ll be going back.
We have been going to Smithfield Station for many years and have always enjoyed our time there. The food and service have always been top-notch.
Birthday for our daughter
The front entrance was directly near the Men's room and that's all you smelled. The water front window view was blocked by large white deck furniture not even being used. The fish taco's were overpowered with LIME and should be called lime taco's. The fried softcrab was over done. The meatloaf was like an old burger patty just thicker. Our table of four agreed that the only good food was the crab dip appetizer. The waitress was very good. The room was old, dated, and dirty. This place is an old washed up "use-to-be"
The crab dip appetizer was wonderful, as were the pita chips and fruit that came with it. We split a broiled dinner, and were somewhat disappointed with the fish portion, especially. There could have been some seasoning. Our server was delightful and overall we had a great anniversary dinner.
Lovely setting and friendly staff are definite advantages of this restaurant. The Friday evening we were there was very busy and the food and service was slow. My fish was dry. The value for the price was not good.
We arrived for a 2:00 reservation, were seated quickly but had no service at all until 2:25 when we asked someone to please get us drinks. The servers were wonderful, but we overheard one tell another table that other servers who had been there left at 2:00. It was Memorial Day and unfortunately that left them understaffed. We were both hungry and thirsty when we arrived and staff was spread too thin. Disappointing as we had a guest with us, and had really looked forward to sharing our second visit to the restaurant with them.
If you dont mind a longer than usual wait for service then you wont mind this place. The food was delicious though highly priced but I guess you pay for the view. We weren't in a hurry since we were there for the night. It really is a nice place.
Although I was a bit displeased with my meal (too much grit in the scallops), I would still recommend the restaurant. With fresh seafood, it isn’t unusual to find a few bones or pieces of shell. However, this time the scallops were just not properly cleaned. I am glad it happened with my entree and not of our guests.
Great brunch, so much food. Typically a buffet isn't that great, but this was one of the best brunch I have
went for lunch- great fresh food with great service
Great service and food.
My wife and I visit, eat and stay for our anniversary every year. The food, service and captive views keep us coming back! My wife gets the same thing to eat every year (top sirloin w/ shrimp scampi). I don't blame her, it's cooked to perfection every time. She leaves nothing on the plate...and she doesn't even care for shrimp! I try something different each time we visit, with the exception of the crab soup (best I've ever had). I have not been disappointed yet! Everything is cooked fresh and always flavorful! The place is usually pretty busy, but we did not wait at all to be seated. The food also came out faster than I expected. I wish I lived in Smithfield so that I could eat here more often, but we are already looking forward to next year. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!
Server could have been more knowledgeable about specials and smiled more
Everything we ate was delicious and the atmosphere was so nice. We ate there a few times during our stay at Smithfield Station and the outside dining was beautiful at sunset.
Another wonderful lunch. Started with fried oysters for appetizers, followed with flounder topped with Smithfield ham and crab with key lime pie for dessert. Service by Kimberly was great.
Good casual spot for fresh seafood. Fun bar, always great service and setting with beautiful view of the Pagan river.
Great for brunch! Terrific view of the water!
A very popular restaurant so you may want to avoid on weekends and holidays or be prepared for a noisy crowd and understandably slower service. Reservations are available through Open Table which I would highly recommend.....But the food is always great and especially this time of year...my favorite season, soft shell crab season!
I have made reservations on OpenTable for the Smithfield Station for the past few years and had not had any issues until 5/11/19. They had already given my table to another group and host accused me of making my reservation at another local restaurant. I was born and have lived my entire life in Smithfield, VA, so I don't think I would get confused about which restaurant I made a reservation at. Our group was seated right away, but it took 1 hour, 20 minutes to get our food - and that was only after I spoke to the hostess and then the owner about the lack of service. When the food arrived, the waitress had neglected to put in the order for two members of my party, so that was another 10-15 minutes coming out. I wasn't looking for a free meal, even after the horrible service, but the owner didn't even offer a discount on a $200 tab. I will not eat at the Smithfield Station again...and I will make sure all of my friends and family are aware of this disgraceful experience. I am on the board of a non-profit group that has used the Station to cater our fundraising events in the past. If I have any say, they will not get our business again.
First I’d like to say that our waitress was fantastic. She went out of her way to find something my very picky 4 year old would eat and was really great. However, after we had waited a while for our food, she came out to tell us that when the seared scallops my husband ordered were ready, the owner decided they looked really good and TOOK my husbands meal to eat himself. I felt not only angry that an owner would do something like that, but also had for her that she had to explain why we had to wait even longer for our meal and tried to make excuses for her badly mannered boss. Won’t be going back there, despite her fantastic service.
It is a quaint and cozy place friendly staff and such beautiful little town you could hear your self thinks. The food was good and fresh
On side note did not care for the Rockefeller’s oyster they were dry but over all 👍👍
Excellent food and service. Will definitely return if in the area.
I Totally Loved every moment.
Took my Husband to stay for his birthday and got the Romance package. It was Beautiful, Relaxing and so serene. My Husband was extremely happy. His Birthday getaway a Success. Dinner was Delicious!! The Room was Perfect!! The Service and atmosphere was amazing.
We went for a special event. I expected it to be a straight seafood restaurant, and they surely had plenty of seafood options. However, the server said their beef was alway excellent, so we went in that direction (however my beef had crab on it). True to her word, the beef was EXCELLENT. All the food was very good. We were not rushed through our meal and the server was delightful and attentive without being annoying. dress code was lax, as it is a small town. We will definitely be back, and soon.
