The restaurant has a great aesthetic and delicious drink menu, but the food left quite a lot to be desired. We shared three options from the small plates and entrees as well as a dessert and the overall feeling was that the seasoning was very hit or miss. The poutine with brisket was excellent, but the rest of our dinner options (tuna nicoise and zucchini fritters) were textureless and very under seasoned. The seasonal pound cake was presented confusingly as a layer cake and was overwhelming salty.
Been here many times. This time the steak was a little over seasoned. So were the fries. However, still good and a great place to eat. (this is the first time I give it a 3 instead of a 4)
Great service and food during our visit for Sunday brunch - I forget our server's name but he was a skinny guy with longer curly hair. He was great. Food was fabulous, and the drinks weren't too pricey for what they were
Love this place. The only ding I would give them, and really it isn't a big thing, is they have taxidermy on the walls. A couple mounted deer heads and some birds. I don't really care for having dead animals staring at me while I eat with my friends. Other than this little detail, probably unique to me, this is an outstanding place.
Great service and food. Best steak I have had in a long time, perfectly cooked
Love Smith! Second time I have been there in two weeks. The small plates are excellent. Get a couple of those, split an entree, order a great cocktail and you have a fabulous dinner. Also love the ambiance.
I really liked it, but like many restaurants, needs to bring down the volume for make it possible for me and my boyfriend to actually have a good conversation. Served well for brunch, the eggs Benedict and mushroom Benedict we orders we as good, could bring out the lemon/acid and the color(tumeric?) For how little it added for flavor.
Great place for brunch. Nice people, quality food, a little noisy for talking a lot.
Food at Smith is fantastic. Our server delivered great service and made several helpful suggestions. Looking forward to a return visit.
I was super disappointed with the chicken and waffles here! The coffee was good, but I really did not enjoy the chicken and waffles. I felt that for 15 dollars i'd expect meat that wasn't mostly fat, dark meat.
Great place for brunch. Lively but not busy that you can't hear each other.
Overpriced. Food was very average. $9 for squash appetizer! Chicken was dry.
The server came to our table to take our order and we literally never saw her again until the check. My chicken was so salty it was completely inedible. The hostess came to take our plates and all my chicken was left except maybe a few bites. Not once did a single person ask us how our meal was/was going, not even when she took away an almost full plate. She did not ask if I wanted a box either which only tells me this is not the first time someone has had to leave virtually their entire meal on the plate. Disappointing to say the least.
Great brunch before heading to Husky game. Food and drinks were terrific and service was very attentive. Will return and recommend to friends.
I absolutely loved our time at Smith. The food was unreal, reasonably priced for the amount/quality, and the drinks were poured heavy and tasted wonderful!! It was 5/5 for sure. Our waitress was also so sweet and attentive. The old tough thing was finding parking, so definitely head there early. But the experience way made up for that.
I love smiths . The chicken , the burger, the pork . Everything . The ambience is perfect . Definitely going back to have another burger .
I felt the noise level was way too loud for conversation. My food was fresh but bland. However, my friends' food seemed much better. The service was, hands down, some of the best I've ever had. Everyone who dealt with us was incredibly nice, and attentive. We are 3 women in our 60's and not one person treated is in a condescending manner. So refreshing!
Regular spot we go to get guaranteed good food, service and drinks.
It was great, but the real winner was the happy hour menu!
Great menu, with options for everyone. Great staff, makes for a relaxed dining out experience.
Food, drinks, and service was amazing! Brian was my server and he did such a great job at serving our group of 6!
We had a great brunch here. The food was excellent and they let us hang out and chat for an hour. I look forward to returning.
Such a beautiful space, beautiful food and beautiful service. Couldn't fault a thing.
Love this restaurant and great for brunch with friends! We waited 45 minutes for our food but that's what you expect when it's crowded. Amazing chicken and waffles. Definitely need reservations for brunch.
Food was excellent, service was a bit slow but nothing that would really detract from the experience. Would certainly be back. Love the craft beer selection
Awesome atmosphere and delicious brunch!
Never got my points registered. The pork loin had a ton way over the top amount of pepper. Don't visit if you are in a hurry.
Great place for brunch! Delicious food and drinks! A little loud if you like quieter environments
Service was quick
Food was okay. I got the special of the day - savory puff pastry. Eh, wasn't that exciting. My husband had the mushroom benedict and really enjoyed it. It had a ton of flavor.
Mediocre food with decent drink menu. Seemed to be someone’s idea of new American dining but without the skill to execute well.
Strange vibe... Animal heads on the walls, dark atmosphere, up-beat and loud electronic music playing. A limited wine list and a not so great beer list. The food menu, even though I'm sure most items taste fine, was incredibly limited and rather specific. Trying to hard to be too eclectic.
This place seems to be trying much too hard to have an identity and doesn't seem to be sure of what they want it to be. A disappointing trip for sure. We went down the street and had a great meal elsewhere.
There's a lot of potential here; however, I think we just got some bad luck.
PROS: (1) The vibe is good. (2) In general we liked the offerings on the menu. (3) our server was pleasant
CONS: (1) to start, it took a long time to get our two uncomplicated drinks (2) the charcuterie was dominated by an uninspired pate and lots of extra bread (3) the mac n' cheese and steak were covered in salt when they didn't need it. (4) the special salad of watercress and cucumber fought against the heavy-handed dressing, which masked the vegetables beneath (5) our salad and charcuterie should have come out together but when the charcuterie was delayed, the entrees were not long behind. this forced us to abandon the chacuterie for entrees, which wasn't that much of a loss (see #2) (6) after we had our entrees for 8-10 min our server asked if we wanted another round of drinks; however, it was too late at that point.
We quickly settled the bill and found dessert elsewhere.
none of the individual errors would have been a reason to write this review. as a former server, I know that plenty of variables can cause a table to have a less-than-perfect experience. but when all of these things come together in one dining experience, there's something going on.
Service was great. Ambiance is cool. Place has really cool decor. Prices and quality were not matched very well but still fun.
When we showed up for our reservation the front door was propped open and I could smell the host’s incredibly strong BO before even getting to the entrance. As he walked back and forth through the restaurant throughout the night we’d get overwhelming wafts of BO at our table- which would be gross but okay anywhere besides a restaurant. I ordered my steak medium-rare and it came out literally still cold in the middle (which I don’t hate but it’s not what I ordered or wanted and the meat had a weird taste and color- it almost tasted like bad pork and I assume it was just a little old. About half of the fries also randomly had grey splotches that looked like the kind of metal dust that accumulates on moving metal parts (like meat grinders and ice cream makers). I couldn’t tell what was going on but I assumed it wasn’t safe to eat. Our drinks were not particularly good either, but they weren’t terrible. I really liked our waiter and he was great- but the bad hygiene and bad/weird food quality was really off-putting.
I had the burger, my date had the chicken cooked on a brick, we both thought our entrees were ok, not great. The grilled asparagus and the French fries were both good. Service was good.
Server was very inattentive and did not get the order correct. It took over an hour to get our food and when it came out 2 of the dishes were somewhat cold. The restaurant is very, very loud and the loud music and shouting staff did not help the problem. I’m sure they are using quality ingredients but the food was overpriced and over salted. I probably will not be returning to Smith because there are much better brunch spots in the area with much friendlier staff.
We went for Father’s day. He got the scallops and I got the steak. The kids split an order of Mac & Cheese, dad and I snuck a few bites, everything was delicious!
Our favorite brunch spot. Great energy and the noise my kids make gets drowned out by the music. Great happy hour, great cocktails and great brunch. Hands down the best hollandaise I’ve ever had!
