The food was very good, particularly the spare rib appetizer and the tacos, made with with short ribs. Good sized portions. We had those and shared an entree and it was plenty for my husband and myself. The happy hour discounts ave $2.00 for several different choices. People need to remember that this is also a sports bar and the noise of the 6 people watching football made talking difficult at our table.

A very young crowd, noisy, but decent value and food.

I liked the interior of the restaurant. We went for brunch and the menu selections were good and varied. The biscuits were interesting, not typical, and the gravy on them was tasty. I enjoyed the grits with the biscuits and gravy and my main dish. The wait staff was very attentive and our glasses were never empty which was nice. The food came out hot and was timed nicely between our appetizer of main course. They did not offer any type of desserts for brunch which was a little disappointing. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Smith Commons.

The food was delicious and the drinks very good. I thought one of the appetizers we ordered; bbq ribs, were small. The ribs were supposed to be 1/2 rack but it only had 4 bones; I expected at least 6. We also ordered the spicy Asian wings - yummy. All of our entrees - the butter chicken!!!, scallops, Smith burger and moulard duck were delicious. Everyone loved their selection. Our drinks were equally as good. We had the street car, felicity, central high, and a mad Russian. It was a very nice evening.

Went for brunch. The challah French toast and the shrimp and grits were excellent. Very nice wait staff. The jazz music was nice but too loud at times.

Always a treat to dine @ Smith Commons! Our meal was excellent and the service fantastic. We came here after seeing a show at the Atlas (Mosaic), and plan to do so again and again!

Good food. 1/2 price wine bottles on Wednesdays are cool. Service was pretty slow. Very kind people, but we were definitely forgotten about more than once.

Love the atmosphere, great place to hangout with friends . The second level decor is really cute and quaint. Great for a photo-op or a really chill night. Third floor is usually reserved but 2nd level has great music and seating.

I made this reservation for my uncle and aunt to go out on a date (since they never make the time for it anymore because of multiple responsibilities and kids). They really enjoyed it, they loved the appetizers, the wine they had and the atmosphere. From what I saw when I dropped them off, the style is really hip, cool, modern and romantic, with a rustic touch to it. They liked the lamb chop.

The flatbread was horrible. Terribly undercooked. The dough was raw in middle. It tasted like an undercooked chef boyardee Pizza. The martini didn’t have olives, had to ask for them and they brought them in a separate cup. The music was far too loud. The rail drinks were strong, though. Mac and cheese was really good. Service was terribly slow.

Food was excellent and great atmosphere. The burger with the quail egg added was exceptional. Nice big homemade size burger and the homemade lemonade is the best I have ever had. Loved the fact that one of the owners was there helping out and being attentive to the guests.

The food was absolutely amazing! I had the hanger steak with potatoes gratin, and I am still dreaming about them! My date shared some of her butter chicken, and it was equally delicious! The drinks were a little pricey, but all-in-all, I had a wonderful experience with amazing food.

Loved the restaurant and the sunday brunch! Big servings for nice price. My only issue with this restaurant is the PARKING! It's absolutely NO WHERE to park. Road around for 15mins looking for parking and had to park about 5 blocks down the street. Definitely took an uber back to my car afterwards.

We were sitting near the back on a cold night. For some reason a staff person would open and leave the back door open allowing a cold breeze to hit us and our table. We asked the first time and our waiter took his time closing the door. The slowness of our waiter caused me to notice our appetizer plates were not cleared by the food runner, our busboy or our waiter, after the main courses arrived. The second time it was left open we asked another person since our waiter was not nearby. It seemed odd the staff didn't convey to coworkers that leaving the door open was a problem for customers. We ate quickly and left within an hour. The food was fine, it did not make up for the cold and poor service, and I would not go again in winter.

Terrible service! Rude hostess who was busy sitting at a booth and chatting with her friends instead of seating us. Plus a waitress who was too busy texting to notice that only 1 of our 4 entrees came to our table.

This was an after a matinee dinner on a Sunday, so we got in just at the beginning of dinner. The staff was very friendly; the circumstances that I saw online was true - the music was much too loud for two seniors (we asked them to turn it down and they did immediately); as they got crowded the noise level got louder (I think it is because young people just seem to talk loud😂). Now for the 5 star review - I had the Lamb Crops and they were simply divine- the best I have ever had!! My friend had the shrimp scampi and she said it was delicious- I did not take her up on her offer to sample, because I so busy licking my plate!! Even with the noise level a little louder than I liked - I certainly will/would go back!!

The Jazz brunch was a fantastic first date!! We ordered the salmon hash and the biscuits and gravy as starters not knowing it was going to be a full meal. We had to try the fries and they are hands down the best I’ve had with their special sauce. Bottomless mimosas added the perfect touch.

The food was amazing and huge portions! Started with the charcuterie board and we were stuffed by the end of it. I highly suggest the duck and the truffle mac and cheese! I will be having them both as leftovers for lunch today. The noise level is loud but it's what you expect from a bar.

The food was very good and well presented and I enjoyed the wine list. I have now been here 3 times hoping that the first two times problems were due to its recent opening, however, the service is still lacking for the price. It is also lacking a clear theme, is it a neighborhood eatery or an upscale restaurant? I feel like it has promise but the frequent understaffing and behavior of the servers is lackluster.

This was my first experience at this H Street restaurant . The lamb chops were recommended by the waiter and they were delicious. There was a reception on the third floor to preview the space for events. The complimentary food and open bar were well received. I will return and have told friends they can put Smith Commons on the list of places to go for a great dining experience.

The food was good and I liked the space. We were there for brunch on Sunday which turned out to be a live jazz brunch. I liked the live music, however the space was very noisy and it was hard to hear my friends over the noise. Perhaps some rugs or wall hangings would make it less raucous so you could carry on a conversation without yelling.
