   I had a fantastic Signature Bone-in-Rib Eye, perfectly cooked, perhaps the best I have ever eaten at a steak house. The creamed spinach that I ordered with it was also hard to beat. The waiter was very friendly and helped me with the choice of steaks and wine. There is a long list of wines by the glass, and these are good wines, not the cheap ones you usually get. All in all I am a very happy customer who will recommend this place to others, and should I come back to Washington, will go there again.

   We had previously dined at the NYC restaurant and decided to give the one in DC a try. We were not disappointed. Food is amazing, service is impeccable, atmosphere is relaxed and romantic. Our new Fav restaurant!!!

   Great spot for a business or casual lunch. The lobster BLT is outstanding. Good amount of tender lobster and thick bacon.

   I went to the Friday session of National Wine Week as well as the Tuesday session. Tuesday's was outstanding. Friday's, not so good. Our server, Didier, was up to the task, as were the people pouring the wine. Most disappointing were the steaks. I order the same steak that I did on Tuesday (Cajun-marinated rib-eye with a Gorgonzola crust cooked medium). Tuesday's steak was outstanding ... thick, pink center, tasty. Friday's steak was none of those: thinner, drier, no where near as tasty. I had brought my leftovers from Tuesday home, and did the same with Friday's lunch. When I put the two steaks side by side, there was no comparison. Also, I didn't feel well when I got home. I found out later that both of my guests didn't feel well either. If this were the only time I'd been to Smith & Wollensky, I wouldn't go back. But I've been to Smith & Wollensky National Wine Week lunches enough to write this one off as an aberration.

   Went with my wife and two friends. We all had a great time. Excellent steaks, sides, and service. We were well taken care of by Alexandra. And the desserts (chocolate cake and coconut cake) were to die for.

   Dry aged steaks are amazing!! This is my favorite steak house. Excellent service, nice atmosphere, and food quality that is second to none.

   service was not great. put us in small private room which in theory was very nice for a business dinner. In practice, it was too quiet, no music or atmosphere at all. too cramped. constantly getting out of the way of servers. service was slow. waited long time for water, wine. should be better for this price. food quality was excellent.

   Unfortunately we arrived during the very cold weather which meant that there were very few diners and the restaurant was quiet Better for us , the service was top class and personal and the food excellent as ever. Will try and drop back in better weather....

   My husband and I tried the 24oz, bone-in rib rye steaks. He had a medium cajun steak, I had the well done signature steak. We also ordered fries for our daughter. They do not have a kids menu and she did not like the steak at all. We both agreed that we've had better. My steak didn't have much flavor. It wasn't tough and it wasn't very tender. It was somewhere in between. It was a little thinner than what I expected. There are two steaks at the entrance that where beautiful and thick. I guess I ordered the wrong one. There was a party in the ballroom but the main dining area was not crowded. It was dim and relaxing. The hostess and server were great and friendly, and the cake was complimentary because the kitchen was backed up. To be honest, we didn't notice but we appreciated it. I may be one and done with this restaurant. Not unless I can get a slice of that chocolate cake to go :-)

    The kitchen must have been stressed to its limits by a group of 30 -- our food reflected that stress. Several entrees (5 of the 8) came out overdone. Only one was sent back -- a steak cooked well done, not medium rare, was just "wrong." Others did not want to wait for a replacement. Rare steaks were medium, my salmon was overdone. At S&W prices, I expected better. I've been there many times before and had remarkably good food and service. This time, we all left disappointed.
