Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse - Miami Ratings and Reviews
I was disappointed that your restaurant don't have wild caught or organic salmon. I didn't want to have a steak that day and I'm not fan of a tuna. It was unfortunate that I had to eat farm raised salmon. The way it was cooked excellent, please do not get me wrong.
So looking forward to our dinner. I have fond memories of S&W in NYC. Steaks were great, but potatoes au gratin were undercooked. So timing was off by the time they brought out the new potatoes our steaks were cold. And the new dish had the same problem. Hard, undercooked potatoes. They were very nice and accommodating but it was not the dining experience I hoped for
Unfortunately I ordered the 70 day plus dry aged steak. Way too much gristle of fat for the price. Also ordered the 100 dollar special 40th anniversary Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon which was not flavorful at all. Better to stick with routine menu items here.
The outdoor seating is first come first serve. Even if you have a reservation you have to wait to sit outside. However, the wait wasn't too long (about an additional 20 min). We used the wait to take pics. The abiance outside is serene. The water view is spectacular. The lighting is soft and inviting. Low level lighting at night. Res. Was for 7:15pm. So now we are finally seated and the waiter was awesome. He was funny, attentive, personable accommodating. The first issue presented itself as we were waiting for our food. It says no pets but a couple did show up with a dog that was said to be a service dog, and was seated right next to our dinner party. The dog was served water, waiters petted the dog as they walked by. Not sure if they washed their hands, didnt see any hand washing. One of the members of the party was allergic to dogs and we complained. The host suggested at first that they could move us inside which after we opted to wait an additional 20 mins and now waiting on food did not seem reasonable. Never optioned to move the couple to another table( staff had added a table to accommodate the couple). And also noted that the couple had been patronizing for 20 years. Ultimately they moved our table away from the dog. Dinner was incredible salmon entree(tender and savory), pork shank(tender inside crispy outside), and steak(temp accurate with right amount of seasoning and juiciness). The sides were lobster mac(best one I had yet) spinach and broccolini. Everything was worth every penny. But then the second issue arose. There are rocks and then the ocean. A couple had 3 children that were playing on the rocks unattended. Cruise ships rode by which means the water is at a depth conducive to crusing wasn't quite comfortable about the lack of concern by parents or staff. And there were 3 large cats roaming about. They never approached anyones table but were close in proximity. Overall honestly the food was so good despite my complaints I would go back.
We arrived to a rude hostess. Who rolled her eyes when we asked if there was available seating outside. Waited in the bar for our table to a bartender who had no personality. We didn’t even sit down to eat yet and are pretty disappointed in this restaurant that came so highly recommended.
We had Caroline as our server and she was outstanding. She went above and beyond and exceeded our expectations. My friend was ill and she even took a ginger ale into the bathroom for her. Who does that? Her menu suggestions were great and food was fabulous. Love the outdoors area upstairs!
If you’re looking for a fantastic waterfront location on South point in Miami Beach you would be hard-pressed to find a better location. However, if you’re expecting the service and the quality of the food on a Sunday brunch to be up to the prices than you will be thoroughly disappointed.
Our order was quite simple and should not have been difficult to execute for even the most average restaurant. three hamburgers and one steak sandwich with a couple of unique requests. We asked for one hamburger well done.... it was brought to the table literally raw.... the waiter and general manager apologized, actually too much.... the hamburger was brought out seven minutes later STILL medium rare .....a 14-year-old with a barbecue in their backyard could’ve cooked a hamburger well done but the kitchen at this Location couldn’t do it even for the hefty price of $18.00. So my comment can only reflect my Opinion about lunch... but in my opinion, if you want to great view and fresh air then go sit outside at Smith and Wolenskys and order a coffee or a drink.... BUT, if you want to good meal and good service, go somewhere else.
Horrible service - waiter more interested in watching Thurs night NFL over the bar than serving and tending to our needs. Bait and switch on advertised bottle of wine for their anniversary - after quite a wait we were told they were out of that but you can get this other bottle that's more expensive. Long delay between apps and main course. One filet was medium well instead of medium rare. My NY strip was a fatty cut but good flavor. We declined dessert and after dinner coffee/drinks and the the waiter didn't take the hint that we were done and ready for the check. After more waiting and having to hunt him down, he stated that we appeared upset with him so he chose to just leave us alone. We still tipped despite this. Too many great steakhouse options to return there.
