Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse - Houston Ratings and Reviews
The welcome, the food and the service is always excellent and your staff are always extremely accommodating and friendly towards our daughter.
The only issue that we have is the absence of changing tables in the restrooms. This makes changing a child more uncomfortable than necessary and often times will lead to us choosing a different restaurant that does make this inexpensive provision for parents of young children.
Other than that, we throughly enjoyed the experience.
This was our first experience at S&W and it was perfect! One cocktail at the bar turned into a full dinner experience!! Bar man was very knowledgeable and his passion for the quality of the restaurant was on display. Overall our experience was first rate and we will be back.
The waiter we had on Sunday evening was fabulous! He was very knowledgeable of the menu, made great suggestions, and very warm and welcoming. I do not recall his name, but I would allow him to serve me the next time I go back to the restaurant. He helped us to have a great experience.
The food is always wonderfully prepared, and the service is attentive and professional! We enjoyed a wonderful wine/appetizer pairing to begin our meal, then my husband enjoyed a perfectly cooked, Gongozola crusted steak, while I thoroughly enjoyed crab cakes that were definitely more lump crab than 'cake'. Our meal was made even more pleasant by the ambiance of the 2nd level seating of the enclosed patio(overlooking Highland Village). All in all, a wonderful meal!
We enjoyed the food at S&W. We both had filet mignon and they were tender and cooked just how we ordered them. The seasonal vegetable was corn with a mixture of Japanese seasonings and it was delicious! The truffle mac and cheese was pretty good as well. My only complaint was that it was freezing in the restaurant.
My wife and I used to go to Smith & Wollensky on a regular basis when we lived in the area and always had a great experience. Which is why we decided to go back for her birthday and we brought our seven year old son this time. The service was horable and the entree's came before we could even finish our appetizer which we paid $38.00 for. We just felt rushed when they grabbed the crab legs before we were done. My son and I ordered steaks and his was way undercooked and mine was medium instead of medium rare.
I would have said something to our waiter but he didn't show back for more than twenty minutes. It was already after 9:00 PM so we just decided to eat what we had and move on. I mentioned it to one of the managers on the way out.
The funny thing was that the only person who told my wife happy birthday was the hostess.
We spent over $300 and we just thought we would have had better service.
We will not recommend this restaurant to anyone at this time.
Certainly deserves to be in the list of Houston's top steakhouses. I went on a Friday night but the place seemed almost dead. The food was top notch as expected but not as good as I was hoping. For dessert their "Gigantic Chocolate Cake," the gigantic is an understatement.
We were early and seated immediately at 5:30 on a Saturday. The service was slow and I didn't understand that since there were only about 5 tables occupied. We ordered steaks and I ordered a salad. Steaks came out but the waiter forgot to bring me my salad. Amazing since we discussed exactly what I wanted on it. Steaks were cooked to order but had no seasoning or flavor. I will never go back and highly recommend Pappas steakhouse as the best place to get a steak.
