Smith and wollensky is always wonderful! But last night the angry shrimp seemed a little dry and burnt. Every time I get this it’s absolutely delicious but last night it was very over cooked.
For as much as the meal cost to mess up my steak twice and offer no discount for the mistakes was very troubling.
Bartender was loud and obnoxious. Server was slow. But food was GREAT!!!
Food was good, service wasn’t terrible but not what it should be at a place of this caliber. More on par with Applebee’s. Ate at the outside tables. Uneven concrete/pavers made the table sit a little tilted but overall a good experience. Would go again but keep fingers crossed we get a different server.
Celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary. They took great care to set our party up in a semi-private setting. Wine selection is outstanding, the food was excellent and we just had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
We were greeted immediately and my husband wished a happy birthday and seated immediately.
Our waitress was accommodating and friendly. The bread that was brought out was not the usual “spoon” bread. When asked she said that they must be out and were substituting rolls. Later when my salad was served, there was the regular rolls on the tray. When I mentioned it, our waitress brought an order out.
We ordered twin petite filets, one of the steaks was so gristly that he could not chew it. The manager came over and apologized and said she would share with the chef, but didn’t offer to reduce our bill or give credit for another time. She did comp my husband’s dessert.
It was just not the quality that we have had at S&W in the past…..a $200 dinner that was disappointing. Not sure I will go back.
The entire experience was a disappointment. First, we were seated by the restroom and door to the kitchen. People were walking/running by all evening. And managers and wait staff were having conversations in front of our table. With a 6:30 reservation, salads came quickly. But dinner did not come until 90m minutes later. The steak was charred and tough and the entire dinner was cold. For a bill of $235.00 for two, I expected the meal to be outstanding. The manager offered us a free drink. We'll not be back.
Incredible service. Quiet and cozy atmosphere. Phenomenal food. Awesome desserts. Highly recommend and we will return soon !!
Couple of things we wished we would have gotten in place of the truffle Mac n cheese. It wasn’t good at all. Too much truffle. Steak was perfect, mushrooms were the bomb and husband loved his salad. My salad had soooo much dressing on it. We think the shrimp cocktail we got was bad. It smelled overly fishy, he only ate one, got sick last night. Huge desserts but they were just ok, very bland, didn’t taste the liquor in them as it stated. Waitress was absolutely awful. 😞
Excellent service and food . Made reservation was seated immediately.
Have a birthday lunch or dinner at Smith Wollensky is a awesome choice.
Looks, prices, and appears high end, but distracted service and below expected food quality makes this expensive eatery a poor value. We can’t recommend it.
Order the SNAKE RIVER FARMS SWINGING TOMAHAWK. It was too salty and I love salt. The rest of my meal and service was very good and enjoyable.
This is the most phenomenal place to dine. From the welcoming at tha valet to the greater, the waiter, wait staff and management this place is top notch. Not to mention EVERYTHING we have ever ordered here was spectacular. All the cuts of beef are amazing. But the tomahawk is by far the best. You will not be disappointed.
The waitress was very nice, but the food came out late. Truffle Mac and cheese was dry and a little burnt on top, but steaks and sautéed spinach were great. The ambiance was whimsical and did not feel as upscale as Morton’s, Eddie Merlots, or even Mitchell’s. Especially for the price.
Everything was delicious
Staff was not overly friendly or attentive to our needs. Had to ask for water and refills.
Always love coming here! It’s always a pleasant experience.
Delicious as always plus good service.
Always great food and service. Thanks again!
Meal portions r good size but the sides seemed good enough for 2. I believe our server was Jamie, he was awesome and even had a trainee.. he was amazing too. You can tell they are all well trained for customer service and food was AHhmazing. I Oscar filet 10oz ,hubby Gorgonzola crusted filet and son had the Lamb loin
It was just ok. Waiter had poor hygiene and his uniform was dirty and disgusting
Took my family here to celebrate a birthday. It took over an hour to get our food and we got very little attention from wait staff. Food was not really that great for the price. Overall it was a poor dining experience. I would not recommend this restaurant.
The tomahawk steak was outstanding, best steak I have ever had. The complementary Brioche rolls were to die for.
It had been a long time since I’d visited a Smith and Woll and I was excited to celebrate landing a new job. My wife and I have been to many steakhouses and generally prefer Morton’s.
When I inquired about a split of sparkling wine the server seemed confused and offered no suggestions save to say that the glass list is on the back of the menu. I reluctantly ordered two glasses of Prosecco. When he returned with the generously poured flutes he mentioned something about checking and not seeing many splits. I was confused, but the Prosecco turned out to be an excellent choice.
The server offered no suggestions on the menu and simply took our order despite our hesitation on selection of sides. His service was transactional at best though punctuated with certain canned comments about menu items, “They don’t lie when they call it gigantic chocolate cake… etc.”
Appetizers were excellent though unchecked by our server. Just as the friendly and efficient runner brought our mains an 8-top was seated about 4 feet from us. This was annoying as they were loud but even more so as we had to watch our server dote on them and ignore us. He was a totally different server for them. The runner pointed out that our potato cake was burnt severely and suggested she could have it redone. Our food now on the table, our server decided to take their many drink and app orders before checking in with us. The potato cake finally returned after our steaks had been eaten. Sadly, it was awful. Soft, soggy potatoes stuck to the cast iron pan with no flavor to speak of. It was now that our server finally returned to check in. After we had finished. Luckily, his big table (read: tip) were all happily drinking and enjoying seafood towers.
Dessert was great. Luckily I don’t take sugar in my espresso as none was offered. I observed the server pour water for several of the large party and passed me by despite an empty glass.
I guess my $300 just wasn’t important enough for Smith and Woll.
I Had A Great Waiter I Believe It Was Josh . Best Birthday Ever . Thank Y'all So Much ❤️😚
Always wonderful food and the service is fantastic!
Great experience while at Easton. We also dine at RH twice
Worst fine dining experience I’ve had in a very long time. Service on drinks took 15 minutes, waiter could not remember our orders and food was cold. I’ll be sticking to Ocean Club from now on.
Worse meal I’ve ever had at a S bathrooms were a mess - would not go back to this location
Amazing food. Great service.
Our server Angel was fantastic, along with the food and drinks!
Our waitress was very welcoming. We didn’t want for anything while she took care of us. Above and beyond service.
Also had an incredible encounter with the gal who delivered our food.
She stared at me and said, “Do you see it too?”.
And I was looking around like, “What?!”.
She said, “I’ve never met anyone else who looks like me. Do you see it?”
So we took a picture together and introduced ourselves. Here’s the crazy part.
Her name is Ally. My name is Ally.
Her middle name is Ann. My middle name is Ann.
Her last name starts with “Z”. My last name starts with “Z”.
I’m still shook up from the experience. I feel even more resolve about being exactly where I should be in life. Thank you Smith & Wollensky for being the catalyst in a chance encounter that put smiles on everyone’s faces!
Everything was good except for the scallop appetizer, it was terrible. Overcooked and the bone marrow was not good either. Would not order again however we enjoy coming here and will return.
Great food, large steaks, steaks were cooked properly. The Bone in Cajun Ribeye was awesome as well as the Bone in Filet. The South African Lobster tail is small, but it was good. They used to have a really large lobster tail that they would bring out de-shell it. Not the same but nice little appetizer for two.
Everything was great. The food so yum. Service kind of slow. But great experience overall.
Gnats all over the place. 3 filets had to go back to be recooked. Just not worth the expensive money charged…not sure this location will make it.
This location has never disappointed. Great food, great service. Exactly what is expected for the price paid.
This was my second visit in two months, and once again I left very disappointed. The first I chalked up to them having a bad night, or post-COVID ramp up bumps. But for the second time the seafood tower was horrid. In fairness, the oysters were fantastic. But the shrimp and lobster were extremely overcooked - the lobster to the point of being inedible. And no lemon served with it, and the server seemed put out when I asked for horseradish and hot sauce for the oysters. This visit I also ordered the jumbo lump crab cake after expressly asking, and being assured, that the meat was in fact jumbo lump and not backfin. It was backfin. I can only assume they're intentionally misrepresenting the item on the menu as they know the difference - they've jumbo lump crab on the seafood tower.
The first visit the entres were great, and one of the two was on this visit. However, the chef apparently is unfamiliar with blackening seasoning as I ordered my ribeye medium rare, blackened. It was scorched to a crisp - completely burnt for more than half the steak.
There are too many good restaurants in Columbus. I'll not be back to this one.
Was nice but underwhelming for the price. Service was ok. Manager seemed to be milling around and could probably have jumped in to help out instead of standing about. Our bottle of wine sat at the server station for over 10 minutes before server had time to bring it to us.
