We decided to go to S & W because of their reputation as a steakhouse.
I ordered a Caesar Salad as a starter, my wife had the Soup du Jour. The salad was huge, more like an entree. Way too much, enough for two.
My wife had the filet and she loved it. I ordered the Strip Steak. What came out was not what I was expecting. I thought I had gotten the wrong steak. The Strip was bone-in, it turned out. No mention on the menu or from the server. For a place that prides itself on their steaks, it should have been tender as butter. I was disappointed. I have had better steaks at a quarter of the price in the Columbus area.
Dessert was great. The service was very good.
Excellent service and interesting side choices. Fun birthday evening with friends!
Our food was excellent and our waiter was great. The Filet was the best I have ever had.
Food was good
Excellent house wine and cocktails. Great Filet Oscar and house burgers for our table. Wonderful Gluten free bread option.
I indicated to the server I was visiting from the D.C. area and really missed S&W as it closed a couple years ago and they comped my dessert which is one of the things I was really looking forward to enjoying! Oh, the little things.
Overpriced. This place is old school nice. Our server Thomas was top notch...all of the staff was really good.
The food just didn't match the price. My wife did the twin filets...good but nothing special. I've had better for less.
My dry aged NY bone in strip was a big disappointment. $63 for an unimpressive cut of meet. It was cooked a proper mid-rare but really tasted like they took a grocery store cut of meet and tossed it on a grill. I've made $8 steaks at home that are clearly better than this one.
The potatoes were unimpressive as well. Not bad but nothing I would order again. The bread, however, was on point and I'm glad I went for the second helping.
Surprisingly the wine was reasonably priced. We had an 11 year old white wine of some sort (I forget, it wasn't one I was familar with). Very good and only $36.
We aren't going back. There are too many nice places that serve better food for less money. There was a reason I had no issues getting a reservation here at 7:15 on a Saturday night when my first choice was booked for the night.
Server didnt take our order for 30 minutes, even though it was early and not too busy. Took another 30 mins at the end of our meal to even get the check. We had to ask the manager for assistance each time.
Service & food was amazing. We sat in the covered and heated patio area. While the heat was on we were comfortable, but others complained about the heat and it was shut off. Other tables were also cold and we ask for it to be turned on. Food & service made up for it.
Food was exceptional and the service matched. It was our first time at S & W and we will definitely be back.
We really enjoyed ourselves and our server was excellent.
The overall experience was excellent. The waiter was very attentive and let us take our time with our order and meals. Made selections and recommendations. Very expensive place though.
Every time I have dined at Smith & Wollensky, I have been thoroughly impressed. I love the food, the service, the drinks (especially the amazing wine list), and the management. My favorite dishes: appetizer - Pan Seared Scallops. Favorite side: Broccolini, Sundried Tomatoes, Pecorino. Favorite main dish: Chateaubriand for Two. Favorite drink: Raspberry Fizz. They always treat me like royalty from the moment I walk in, whether I’m dressed to the nines or wearing my workout clothes after a gym session. Thank you for the consistent great dining/drinking experiences, Smith & Wollensky!
Great experience! Food and service was great! Went for Easter dinner with family and would return again for sure!
Food was very good, but I was disappointed that the Columbus/Easton location does not serve brunch on Sundays. Many locations do have a brunch menu. I don't really feel like having a steak at 12:00 on a Sunday.
We enjoyed our dinner...date night, and we made reservations only 24 hours in advance. Seating was immediate; service near immediate; great steak dinners and good wine! Will return.
Very enjoyable experience. t
I've resisted going to this restaurant because I heard the prices were high, but we decided to take the plunge. The atmosphere is very nice, and our waitress was very attentive and helpful. I think we all enjoyed the meal, but the thing that will make us not return is the cost of the alcoholic drinks. They are just far too expensive, and since the meal is already priced high, the drink factor just made it not feasible to return.
Food super average. Order was incorrect
WEe had a business meeting at the Hilton and eight of us went to S&W for dinner Friday. Every person loved their meal. The wine list was great. A great time was had by all.
This was my "go to" special occasion restaurant. It is rapidly losing that spot. While I am not exactly a regular I have been at least a dozen times over the last 5 years. While nothing was actually wrong, nothing was particularly right either, and for the price it should have been.
This occasion was for a 40th birthday for a close friend who has been gone from Columbus for a few years. To me that is a very special occasion, the waiter seemed more interested in telling us it was the Restaurants 40th birthday and didn't even wish her a happy birthday, just a grudging "that's nice." I don't know if the waiter was having a bad day or what, but while he provided decent service, it was not service with a smile, ever. As a former server myself (at a similar caliber establishment) I expect FAR better and usually get it here. For the waiter, if you can't bother to smile at a very pretty lady on her 40th birthday, find another field of employment. It was not as if he was busy.
The manager did come by early to ask how we were, but didn't seem all that interested either, nor did he wish the young lady a happy birthday, it had been noted on the reservation that it was a special occasion. Maybe that attitude has rubbed off on the staff?
The food was very good as always but not spectacular, but there has been a steady degradation of the wine list over the last few years.
All in all, II will probably be making Hyde Park my go to for special occasions from now on.
Our first time to this restaurant and it will not be our last. Great service, great atmosphere, the food was incredible. Every employee we came in contact with was exceptional, polite, and helpful! Could not have been better!
Overall the experience was ok. The food was average but not worth the money spent. It seems like the same ingredients are used for everything therefore most of it taste alike. The chocolate cake is ridiculously huge but it was dry.
I would not recommend this restaurant.
Our waiter , Mars (sp) was outstanding as always. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Perfect night - excellent
Our Waiter has a great knowledge of the menu and was perfect in his timing. The food was delicious as always and the drinks were as well.
The steaks were prepared inconsistently (chateaubriand was beyond medium rare and the porterhouse was definitely very rare) and both were served cool. Not worth returning, but somewhat underwhelming at best. Not even served on a hot plate. Nor was there special tableside carving for something as special as a chateaubriand. This leads me to rate the them as being just an average steakhouse, when they really should live up to a much higher standard - especially in consideration of the 5 star expectations that come with their prices. I would gladly pay the price, but that does mean that the food preparation needs to be perfect.
Oh. My. My husband and I have had a lot of nice meals all over the world and I have to say this was the BEST dining experience we’ve ever had. I had the bone in filet and my husband had the ribeye. Let me just say-we have never had any steak like this. Period. Hands down best meat I’ve ever had. The whipped potatoes are Ah-mazing as well as the delicious bread they bring out. I highly recommend drinking a bottle a Siduri Pinot Noir which was to die for. For desert we had the white chocolate bread pudding. I didn’t think I could eat it but once I had my first bite- I couldn’t stop. Jennifer was our stellar waitress who made us feel so special! She was hands down the reason we had such a great experience.
Fabulous service at a restaurant that usually has excellent service.
3/4/18 we celebrated my son’s birthday we had great service as we sat in the enclosed patio.
Service was too slow. Food was good but overpriced.
For the price, the service was lacking.
This was our 4th visit in a year and we've always found the service inattentive.
For this visit, no water was brought to the table. We finally asked after 30 minutes. Our party of 4 was there 1.5 hours before giving our food order. The server nudged our friend to prompt his drink order. Dirty dishes were left on the table - in fact, new dishes were added while empty dishes were moved aside, not removed, by servers. It was not the level of service I expected, as our tab came to $100 per person.
However, the food was excellent.
My husbands birthday with our daughter and our best friends. Everything wa fantastic!
Our server’s name was Brittany! She was fantastic! Very friendly and kept us entertained! The food was perfect! We had a great experience.
We come here often. Food is always great. However, this trip the steak was nothing like it normally is. My wife and I always split the 64oz bone in ribeye. Typically the steak is juicy, thick and very tasty. This time the steak was rather thin and overly dry with minimal flavor. The rest of the food and service was excellent as usual. We’ll be back as this is the first time in many visits we’ve experienced anything less than excellence here. But with a $66 price for just the steak, you should never have a bad experience. A little disappointed but we’ll return.
Not bad, food was good service was great waitress was attentive and accurate
Our server and appetizers/dinner were amazing. However, we were placed at a table located on the patio directly under the heaters. Although the temporary walls were in place, the patio area was not acceptable. It was raining incredibly hard that evening, and on multiple occasions myself and several members of our party had water dripping on us from the leaking awning. We asked to be moved inside, but tables were just moved to a different place under the awning, not inside the restaurant. We had to ask for the heaters to be turned down/off due to the immense heat. Our server even commented on how incredibly hot it was in the patio area. After a time in this location, we again began to see water dropping on our table. This would not be acceptable at any time, but this particular reservation was for my daughter and her bridal party. I was disappointed in this aspect of our visit. I feel more could have and should have been done to ensure a pleasant dining experience.
There was a extremely loud table next to us . The man at the table was talking very loudly and sometimes shouting. Most of the customers were looking at the group at the table because they were annoyed as were we. This is not a BW3 restaurant!!! My husband and I couldn't even carry on a conversation. I asked our server if he could ask them to quite down a bit and he said he would...but he didn't. I also ordered a coffee after dinner and the server brought our check and forgot about my coffee. We were celebrating my husband's birthday .... I asked for a quiet table in my reservation request and was seated next to the loudest table in the restaurant.
One of our favorites and have brought a large group every Christmas Eve for years.
We love to do last minute gifts in between cocktails and then finish with an awesome dinner.
We dine other times of the year and like the casual atmosphere of the bar tables and the patio for people watching when just the two of us. Lunch or dinner, Highly recommend.
