Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse - Columbus Ratings and Reviews
Though we had indicated that it was for our 43rd Anniversary - and we have gone there every year for the last 10 years - we expected a complimentary glass of Champagne as before (or something) but offered nothing celebratory. We may now consider somewhere else next year.
We went on a date to celebrate our anniversary. Tomy was our server and he was great. He offered us the special and we ordered it. It was spectacular! The meat was served on a block of Himalayan salt. I ordered filet mignon. Both our dishes were cooked to perfection- medium rare. Tomy took great care of us, check on us periodically but not in an overbearing way, and even helped us celebrate our anniversary by asking us if there was a special occasion and gifted us dessert. He built great rapport with us, we enjoyed the customer service. We were the only ones there late on a Sunday night and we didn’t feel rushed to leave. The drinks were great! The Breakfast at Tiffany’s cocktail reminded me of a mimosa so if you like mimosas I would recommend this drink. We will definately be coming back and we would also recommend this place.
We have dined at this restaurant for several years now so I have a good knowledge of the level of food and service. This trip was very disappointing considering our previous times there. Usually worth the price, but not this trip. Seafood tower was below par, soups were all lukewarm my filet was a terrible cut of meat and had no flavor (my lobster tail was wonderful). Wine selection is great and of good value. Service was not as good as past years either. I will definitely return, but only due to my previous experiences, not this past one. Great location, great menu, great atmosphere and great wine list so hopefully this trip was just a one time blip.
Hadn’t been in a while so decided to go with my GF on New Year’s Day for dinner. Food was nothing short of amazing. We both were so full and happy. Everything was cooked to perfection. The server was right to the point (in a good way, no fakeness) and knew his stuff. We were both scheduling future dinners in our head for special occasions coming up so we could come back (my bday, her bday, Valentine’s Day). Was every bit as good as I hoped for and expected. Won’t go longer than a few months before coming back the next time, unlike the several years since last time I was there because I’m on the other side of town now. Great, great, great!
This place was abosolutely fantastic! The people were so welcoming. I didn't feel out of place going to such a fancy place! This will be my new date night special occasion spot! Jennifer, our server was so amazing and so sweet. What's better than amazing service and amazing food?
My salad was very large, big enough for 2 people! I ordered one crab cake for my entree and although it was delicious, it wasn’t “about the size of a baseball” like the waiter described. My husband ordered the signature filet and he ordered it medium, he wished he’d said medium rare, it was just a little dry. We shared the lobster Mac and cheese. This is very decadent and definitely more than enough to feed two people! The bread they serve is also delicious! Our meal with one cocktail, no appetizers, was $126.00, so be prepared for a large bill. The cheapest entree is the twin filets for $44 and that just gets you the filets, sides are ala carte.
We love this place. Food, drinks and service are always outstanding. This is where I bring my wife when I want to do something special for, and/or with, her. The experience starts with the hostesses, on through to the bartenders, managers and finally the server.
Our server, Cassandra, was impeccable. I will insist on having her take care of us our next time there. We will wait at the bar until a table in her section to becomes available to get her as our server.
Seated on time. Took 10-15 minutes to receive water, more time to receive bread, order wine then more time to place order we had chateaubriand, very good, but we had been seated for over an hour by the time we got our food. While we were waiting another table was seated next to us. They received water and bread before they were even properly situated, and another round of bread was delivered within a few minutes. Service people were checking on them constantly, refreshing everything. They didn't look like they were famous to be receiving such dedicated service, but maybe they were. The manager gave us complimentary dessert as an apology, but having spent $160, not impressed. Won't go back.
Not ready to seat us for 15 minutes after our reservation time and there were table available. No valet parking and maitre’ de had no idea what was going on. Seated a 6 o’clock reservation before our 5:30 one. Service was slow and server not very trained in the proper way to serve or clear a table. Don’t like servers reaching in front of people. Med rare steak ordered was not prepared properly. Bacon on steaks was burned. All in all not a good choice for Christmas dinner. It was very cool at our table as we were seated close to the door. Entire staff appeared to be in a state of chaos
And not on top of their game. Probably will never go back. Food overpriced and really not that good
We took our kids for Christmas Eve dinner. The service was horrible, especially given the cost of our meal. We waited for a very long time to give our drink orders, & then even longer to place our meal orders (and they didn't bring bread while we waited). We never received our appetizer. Our food was amazing, but part of the order was wrong (we didn't complain because our kids wanted to eat). We were expecting incredible service given the price of the meal--we are always willing to give service on Christmas Eve a little bit of leeway, but this was way beyond poor. We likely will not choose to go to this restaurant again.
We have always gone to SW for our Christmas meal. We went on Christmas Eve this year vs our usual Christmas day visit due to another conflict. Service was terrible, very slow and we waited over an hour for our dinner which arrived before our salads. When we told our server we didn't get our salads she brought them out on the house but we sent them back. Server wrote down the wrong steak we ordered so we ended up with a steak that we didn't order. The sides were cold. We won't be back.
When we arrived at the restaurant the 2 valets were on their phone and did not open any doors, or help me get my elderly, disabled mother out of the car. We had to approach them to give them the $5 charge, the car keys and get a ticket. I had hoped that there would be a regular door to help my mother into the restaurant, but that door opened into a private party and we were not able to use it, so I had to struggle with her in a revolving door. The hostess offered us a table on their heated patio, it was 25 degrees out, when I declined we were given the table closest to the kitchen, we had obviously upset the hostess by declining the original table. I asked to be sat elsewhere, which they did accomodate. The server saved our special evening, with outstanding service, really going above and beyond. The food was also wonderful. The ladies restroom was in terrible condition. One stall was out of order and the others had no toilet paper, except for one roll in a basket on the floor. The trash can was over flowing. This is not what I expect from Smith and Wollensky. Having eaten in their restaurants in other cities, where they have such high standards for both staff and the restaurant, I was really shocked. I do expect better service for their prices and we only received that from the server and food runners.
We almost didn't go here based on the "iffy" reviews, but so glad we did! Went for Christmas Eve, food and service were both outstanding. Pricey, but worth it for special occasion. Would definitely go back. (The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the bathroom was a disaster, which you wouldn't expect from a restaurant of this caliber).
I love this restaurant. We go several times throughout the year for business, but especially enjoy our tradition of going for lunch on Christmas Eve Day. It’s always so festive and so enjoyable being able to watch all of the hustle and bustle of the Christmas shoppers from such a comfortable, cozy restaurant. The food and service are always perfect. Just a wonderful, upscale, well run restaurant. Always such a pleasure.
It had been several years since we had been to the restaurant. We were excited to go ,but very much overall disappointed. The service was marginal and it took almost an hour to get our food. My husband’ s steak was med. well when he had ordered med. rare and my vegetable plate was a joke. Some thought needs to be given to the increasing demand for a good vegetarian option.
Food was good but service was poor. I realize the restaurant was busy but guest shouldn't have to wait for 15 minutes to have their plates cleared. We we're there for over 2 hours but not fully by choice. The waiters had too big of a service area to cover in my opinion. For the money we spent not sure I could recommend. Not the top notch dining experience one would think considering the name of the restaurant.
The entree 2 of our party ordered was the pork shank. This was really bad, fatty and no white meat. The description provided by our server was not accurate. This item should be taken off the menu as it has zero nutritional value and is not in keeping with the quality of the rest of the menu.
I have eaten at this restaurant in the past and was somewhat disappointed on this occasion. I did not feel that our meals were on par with my past experiences. Several of our meals were not cooked to specification and the onion soup in particular was very mediocre. Will try it again as I do like the ambiance.
