Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse - Columbus Ratings and Reviews
Seated in the newly remodeled bar area it was poshly comfortable. Our s t e a k was absolutely cooked perfectly medium rare. Sizzling hot! Lots of diners in the bar area which was welcomed because it adds to the festivity with laughter in the background. The best thing about S & W for us is the food memory you leave with. I know right now at this writing just how succulent that filet was. -- sizzling hot. So good. We WILL be back.
My wife and I recently dined here for our wedding anniversary. As usual the service was impeccable from Matt the bartender to Jennifer our server. The food as usual was fantastic, I look forward to our next visit around Valentine's day which has become a tradition for my wife and I. Keep doing the little things as you always seem to do.
First time eating here. Not impressed.
I ordered bone in ribeye cooked medium: it was cooked well done. My wife order the bone in filet: it was cooked rare. The ribeye had flavor that reminded me of boiled meat. I believe it was wet when they cooked it.
The server never checked on the quality of the steaks after delivery. The Mac n cheese did not tasted good. The potato croquettes where ok. The broccoli was limp. My water however was delicious.
Service could have been more attentive. Seafood tower was overpriced for the amount of food provided. Cocktails were very good and original, however refills were overlooked and had to flag down a waiter to order a second round. Outdoor seating provided a good view of the fountain but was occasionally interrupted by valet parking. Overhead heaters for the outside seats was a good idea and much appreciated. Will likely try this restaurant again but will stay away from seafood collections as we left the establishment still hungry.
Great location. Wonderful for people watching on sidewalk at Easton. Had a late lunch. Food was excellent, but service was lackluster. Inattentive, got order wrong, and charge wrong amount on the bill. Maybe before dinner they lack their normal enthusiasm. I've eaten here a number of times when service has been excellent (at their prices, you expect nothing less).
I have eaten at this restaurant several times. I have never had a problem, at all, until Friday at 5:30 p.m. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table. It came right away. Two of our guests ordered a glass of Chardonnay. They waited for nearly 25 minutes for the wine. We waited nearly an hour for the waiter to take our order. Once our order was taken, our food came at a reasonable time.
Food tasted great. The bread that they bring out while you wait is outstanding!! The GIANTIC cake slice is GIANTIC!!! The waiter we had was great as well. She works everyday except Wednesday's. She kept checking up on us like every 3-5 minutes throughout the whole time we were there. Definitely coming back!
This was our first trip to Smith & Wollensky, and we definitely plan to return. The wait staff was incredible, and the food was outstanding. I highly recommend the Angry Shrimp and Filet Oscar. We took our desert home, including the Cheesecake and Chocolate Cake. The Chocolate Cake was disappointing, it was very dray that night, but that wont deter us from returning. All around outstanding.
I have frequented Smith and Wollensky for years. My husband decided he wanted to go there for his birthday this year. The food was horrible. If it was put side-by-side with food from Appleby's I would have been unable to tell a difference. It seemed pre-made, over salted, and was just all-around bad. Our waiter was little more than indifferent. All in all a thoroughly disappointing experience for my husband's birthday. For the price, I have always expected high quality food and attentive/pleasant service from Smith and Wollensky-- all of which were sorely lacking.
We came in for our wedding anniversary and the steak was amazing !!! However our server was very very overwhelmed with a difficult table behind us, so every time we saw him he was literally shaking ! I felt bad for him! But, that being said , it took away from our night. Sadly the oysters Rockefeller was terrible!! Covered in so much oregano the oyster wasn't even there! The onion rings were undercooked and slimy. Overall if the steaks weren't the best ever we would have complained! It was a 300$ bill for what should have been a 200$ bill in my opinion. Hopefully, this helps improve quality
This was very disappointing, it was my birthday and I told the waitress it was my first time there, she wasn't rude per say but she was not friendly at all. I spent over $100 and was disappointed that nothing tastes good. I didn't eat all of my steak, a few bites if the mac and cheese that she highly recommended, I discovered quickly that I didn't like it. I do not plan to go back. It was very disappointing to say the least.
I have to preface this by saying that I've been here no less than 15-20 times over the last 10 years, so this isn't based upon one visit. That being said, I've noticed a very steep decline over the last couple of years in quality and service. I had hoped this was a temporary shift and the restaurant would right itself to the top-notch form it once was. Not to be, unfortunately. The service, which was always spectacular, has been slow, unorganized and simply not up to the level one would expect from a fine steakhouse. The food, again was always amazing, has been sorely lacking the last couple of years to the point that I do not believe I could justify spending another meal at this location. The beef, I am a ribeye or filet person depending on mood, has been regularly overcooked and tough...which is incredibly hard to achieve with dry-aged prime beef. However, the tendons are ever prevalent in their cuts...which are simply tough and inedible...at undesirable to say the least. Sides are average at best. As this was a birthday weekend, I had the privilege to eat here Friday and Mitchell's steakhouse downtown Saturday, so I was able to compare meals back-to-back. I had to throw in the towel and stop the fight because it wasn't even a contest. Mitchell's is far superior in every facet and they seemed to genuinely care to know how the meal was to ensure their guests felt at home. It's a shame. I used to love S&W. Farewell friend.
