Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
We had the Wagyu beef, asparagus, and a 1/4 pound of crab legs. The beef was definitely the best item. It was not only perfectly cooled, but had the most delicious crust on it. The crust did not cover up the perfect flavor of the delicious, high-quality, perfect beef, it only added extra texture and some salt. Great service too.
We dine here often before the theater always excellent and the waiters are extremely professional with a flare of fun!
Also the guy who checks to see you are enjoying your experience is fun and has a great sense of humor, I need to catch his name as I have talked with him several times!
We were in a room with three other large tables. One of which requested a Bluetooth speaker play 90s indie rock until I couldn’t take it anymore and asked it to be moved closer to the large party requesting the music. We had a seafood tower which was okay but ordered steaks for our entrees and they were phenomenal. Cooked perfectly and would rank up there with the best I’ve ever ordered in a restaurant. We had a decent New Years evening experience but the value was questionable.
NYE romantic dinner for 2 did not happen. A large group took over with an energetic noise level and it was difficult to talk to my date. Food was good and our server Taylor was outstanding. If this wasn't traditionally a great place to go, I would have to rethink my next visit.
Per one of the servers suggestions, I ordered one additional scallop but they doubled my order instead. There was also a loud, inappropriate table next to us and none of the staff addressed it. Otherwise, the food was great and they accommodated our request to sit next to the window, which was nice.
My husband and I dined at Smith and Wollensky for NYE. They were busy, that was expected. We did have a reservation. Our waiter was excellent, as were the steaks. The tables were somewhat close, you felt as though you were dining with your neighbors. All in all, the food was delicious and that's is the important part.
The hostess was rude, apparently she did not belong there as she was not friendly. The waitress was one of the best waitresses that I’ve had serve me in a long time. She was definitely 5 star. The steaks were amazing, seafood was delicious but not the best I’ve had. Understandably as this is known as a steakhouse and not a seafood restaurant.
Had a reservation for Christmas Day dinner. Our table was by the window which would normally be great but it was freezing outside and their insulation isn't brilliant. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful in choosing cocktails and explaining the menu, especially the steak choices. We went with the double bacon-wrapped filet and the coffee and cocoa rubbed steak. The latter didn't come out as nice as we had hoped but still tasted good. We shared a couple of sides as well as the split pea soup and Caesar salad to start. We took the coconut layer cake home for dessert.it was amazing! The cocktails and wine were good but expensive. Still, I would recommend this place over many other steak houses.
Cuisine was excellent as well as the wait staff. Everything was over-priced ($24.00 for a chocolate martini?) but if price is no object, then this is the restaurant for you! We were early for our reservation but were seated immediately. Our waiter, Zaid, was professional and made menu suggestions which we appreciated. He was not pushy or overbearing. The manager came to our table to ensure everything was to our liking which was a very nice touch. We will definitely be back for a special occasion.
Great service . Amazing food . Best Christmas Day dinner ever. Lovely atmosphere. We will definitely return here . We flew over from London to spend our Christmas in Chicago and we had the best food here. We would definitely recommend a visit here if you are in Chicago. Thankyou so much for making our day .
For us it was the Christmas Dinner and my mum‘s first time in Chicago. Being European we are not really used to the American way of dining, thats why we considered the restaurant as really loud.
Food was superb! Service very good.
Unfortunately the wine card was taken away before we could order so we ended up without wine for the main. We asked for the card but then it never found it‘s way back to the table.
