The cocoa and coffee rubbed filet is out of this world!
I love the just right amount of attention from the staff! The food was brought out timely. My husband and I celebrated his 52nd birthday! The chocolate cake was a welcomed surprise. Having a view of the river was serene!
We will definitely go back!
Very nice restaurant, just too pricey compared to other Chicago steakhouses. For the extra cost the food should not be on par with their competitors.
JJ was the best waiter that I have ever had at any restaurant. Very knowledgeable and took great care of us.
Requested to sit by the window and they put us at a 2nd row near the window. My bone in filet was dry and to fatty. Asparagus had zero taste. Service was great in the beginning but fell drastically. My fiancée had carrot cake which was dry and my cheesecake was dry as well.
Love the menu options, especially the variety in the sides, and the food was perfectly prepared. Staff was very attentive but not intrusive.
Service was odd and slow
You can’t go wrong with Smith and Wollensky! Since we frequently visit the one in our town (Miami) and we love it.
We never thought of going in Chicago since there are so many great restaurants. This time we decided to try and see the difference and great is great period!
Food, service, setting, ambiance, everything about the experience was amazing.
Thank you for a wonderful evening next year we will come back.
Very nice lunch!
Jesus, our waiter, did everything in his hands to make my guests feel comfortable and very well taken care of. Amazing food, awesome tomahawk!
I have been to many steak houses all over the country. Steak is my favorite food. The bone-in Ribeye I was served was excellent though small portions were more rare than I like. The price for the steak was very high but the fact that I was in downtown Chicago at a unique hi-end steakhouse I am fine with that. The problem I had was that no sides were served with the steak. The steak was $68 with no sides. I got a salad wedge with house dressing and they charged me extra for that. I also got a large dinner roll and they charged extra for that. Really? I paid almost $70 for a steak and you cant throw in some lettuce and piece of bread. Till I added a 15% gratuity my bill was $100 and I was by myself. That is insane. The service was ok. I've had better for a lot less money.
Overall, great! However, our bread was stale/hard & I had to ask for fresh bread...I don't expect that at a nice steak dinner. If I'm having red meat & carbs, it better be fresh!
Wonderful lunch. The cakes were much larger than we had anticipated, but made for a great shared dessert. Very happy with the experience. Some of our guests were getting sun in their eyes however due to the lack of curtains. Thank you for the great service.
Cajun ribeye was fabulous
Plenty of meat
$129.00 Porterhouse for 2. Waiter knew it was for just 1 person. It should not arrive already sliced up. He should ask. I still tipped very good because he was good otherwise. What made things worse was it was very rare and was sent back. Once you reheat already sliced steak it was a waste of $129.00. For that money the steak should be a perfect experience.
Seated 45 minutes after the reservation time. It happens. Food was disappointing. Server didn't care. Hopefully this was a one-off, not the new Smith & Wollensky.
Had reservations for our anniversary at 7:30.Place was crowded and loud. Finally at 8:00 with a lot of complaining from us we were seated.Waiter finally came over to get our drink order and seemed to be very overwhelmed as he was also working a large table. He did apologize and everything went well after that.I was surprised we were not offered a desert since it was our anniversary.Guess they wanted us out the door.
Reserved to celebrate my daughter’s birthday and our wedding anniversary. Showed on time. Very busy. Sat 5 of us on a 4 top with one side raised. Nice table on the window, just no room to move. (We were jammed in like sardines). Ordered drinks. Took 20+ minutes. Ordered another round of drinks before dinner. Another 20 minutes. (At least they were consistent). Entrees came out ok. Sides were cold. Didn’t see our waiter for 10-15 minutes. Ordered coffee after dinner. Took 25 minutes. No sense of urgency. We will not be back. Too many other great choices in Chicago.
Our waiter Zain and the bartender did some excellent damage control after we were left waiting despite having a reservation.
This evening was special to me and my son and thanks to him it will be remembered positively!
The steaks were amazing, perfectly cooked. Service was great. Place was packed when we left at 7:45, make reservations!
Amazing food, the steaks were perfectly cooked, the sides, drinks and Angry Shrimp appetizer were spot on. I reccomend the coconut cake, the best I've had!! This has a classic upscale Chicago steakhouse vibe, very classy but not stuffy. They treated myself and my wife very well for our anniversary dinner. Love Smith & Wollensky and will always recommend them and make it part of our steakhouse rotation.
Service was very good and so was the ambiance at the restaurant. However the food was average. I ordered the angry shrimp which was very good and so was the asparagus but my steak which I ordered medium rare was burnt.
We’ll give it another shot as my wife enjoyed her filet so I’m hoping this was an anomaly.
Absolutely incredible food. The Wagyu tenderloin was absolutely tremendous. The lobster Mac and cheese was delicious. Will be back!
We had the most amazing meal here. Steaks were cooked perfectly and the crispy Yukon potatoes were delicious. Service was great and the view overlooking the water was perfect. Awesome wedding anniversary meal!
Great all around experience
As always, from start to finish we had a wonderful lunch. It’s the perfect place for a business lunch!
Top!!! Posto fantastico. È già la seconda volta che torniamo e non ci tradisce mai.
Excellent food and service was outstanding. Great river views, great place to treat someone special.
Birthday celebration ...
Our waiter was exceptional!!
The salmon was undercooked, raw in middle
which was very disappointing! ( Especially
Since I requested it to be well )
Classic restaurant with a nice view of the river. Steak was cooked appropriately with a nice char.
Our server Diane was very personable and described the menu along with the special perfectly. Diane was excellent! It was an enjoyable evening.
Great food and great view. Ask for a table that faces the river.
Great atmosphere!!! Great food!!! Great service!!!
Great food and service!
Anthony was our waiter. Never had a better one...anywhere! Great waiter...great person!!
Great service, great location, always good food. I am not sure why I'm required to write a review of more than 50 words so this is filler
Ambiance was spectacular. Nice place for a business gathering, since it was quiet, comfortable and with an incredible view.
excellent view, good service, good food… a Little bit expensive
Awesome food and service. Very friendly staff
