Es un lugar hermoso junto al rio chicago nos encanto y regresaremos a la brevedad
Temperature in room was a little low some ladies had to keep jackets over shoulders
High end expensive . Felt a little rushed . From the time we sat down and finished the meal , it was in about 45 minutes. If I’m going spend almost 200 dollars for a dinner, I’d like it to last longer then Applebee’s
Absolutely loved this place despite how noisy it is downstairs. We got a table next to the window which gave us the best river view and not to mention their amazing food. We had the Angry Shrimp, Grilled Bacon, charted Cauliflower, Bone-In Ribeye, and Tuna. Our server Dianne was just excellent and patient with us as we took forever to order. Drinks were lovely as well.
This is by far the best steak place I’ve ever been too...again! I love this place. I brought my office as a treat and all of them agree, wonderful food, wonderful service and a beautiful spot.
NIce view, and delicious food! The place is nice and waiters make you feel very comfortable
Lunch outside. Service a little slow and order was incorrect
Everything was great, however, server could use some better people skills
Fantastic as always. Steaks and sides were great. Even the cappuccino to wash it all down was perfect.
Anthony and the support staff were excellent. Very friendly and fun. We all enjoyed our experience.
Very nice place!
Everything was awesome, food and service were excellent.
Best steak I've had in a year. Rather expensive, but well worth the money.
We were celebrating our 2nd anniversary of dating and meeting. Thank you to Regina Arendt for accommodating us with a window seat again, anniversary card, and desert. Our server Lee was outstanding with courtesy, professionalism, and sold us on the Wagyu Tenderloin steak and cream corn. We really enjoyed dining there 2 years in a row and plan on making this a tradition.
Food was ok, nothing special for a $50 Filet. The steaks were not seasoned very well, the char on the meat was pretty good.
Overall I would not recommend.
S&W is not what it used to be. Won’t be back.
Just wonderful. Would recommend and looking forward to returning.
Service wasn’t up to par for an expensive steakhouse. The food was good
beautiful view, relaxed atmosphere. excellent service
The vibe of the place was blasé at best. Food ok, but overpriced.
This was the first time our friends dined at this venue and loved it. The view from our table was perfect, and our waiter, Mark, made the entire experience a memorable one.
WE had a lovely 28th wedding Anniversary with our three son's included. The service was impeccable, the food delicious, and the view was very nice.
I used a loyalty card to make a reservation because I really wanted to make my husband's birthday nice. I made the reservation about 2-3 weeks ahead of time. When we got there to check in, the host was an older gentleman but not very friendly, he started out every greeting by saying there were no window tables available. Then he told us he had a nice table downstairs for us where the room had floor to ceiling windows. We went downstairs and the table was in the bar area, in a breezeway right next to the service station. Definitely not what I had in mind for a nice dinner. So I went back to the host and let him know we would wait as long as necessary to get a better table. We went to the bar to have a drink. Five minutes later they came to get us and told us a table opened up. It was back in the bar downstairs and it was on the window, which was great, but we think that they may have made that table for us, because my back was touching the man's behind me and we had to wiggle to get back to the table. We were thankful for the view but looking back, we realized we definitely should have tipped the host to get a better table. (I guess I had assumed a $25 loyalty card would do something, but I think a $25 tip will get you farther) The Grill (bar downstairs) is very casual and you don't feel like you are in a steakhouse at all, bright lights, checkered floors, sports tvs, etc. And I think because of how hard it was to get to our table, that may be the reason why the service was so poor. Our waiter only came by 4 times, everything else was handled by runners. We sat with empty drinks three times. My husband made the comment that this was the worst service we have ever received in a steakhouse. The food was good but nothing blew us away. All in all, I wouldn't recommend the Chicago location if you sit in the Grill downstairs. Maybe they put the worst servers down there too. A nicer dining room and better service might be the key to a better experience.
Great service, great meal
It’s been a while since we’ve been and we don’t plan on returning. We ordered double stuffed lobster tails and a 16 oz bone in filet to share. They brought out the lobster, side and wrong steak. By the time we actually got the right one, we completely missed the opportunity to enjoy the surf and turf experience we had planned. Since it was my wife’s birthday they gave us a free dessert to go, but even that wasn’t very good. The experience was also dampened by the table of young adults next to us. Not sure what the issue was, but they were talking very loudly, with a lot of profanity, and it completely took away from the experience we were looking forward to that night. Unfortunately for them there are far too many other steak options in the city for us to return. Very disappointed overall.
Great steak. Excellent service. Amazing experience.
Still the best in town. Service, food, location, and atmosphere. They never fail to please.
I had the signature 10 oz filet with creamed spinach and crimini mushrooms. Classic meal done well. Manhattan was also excellent. Just what I was looking for as a steak fix on my first night in a Chicago.
Meal was good, location is nice being along the River, but restaurant is loud and “happenin’” so difficult to hear with large groups. Waitress was knowledgeable, friendly, and we’ve had her a couple of times over the last 6 years. She just wasn’t as attentive as usual. It took a long time to place order, get meal, and then get check.
I took a group for business to dinner. Great view and great staff. Best steak and lobster mac & cheese ever!
Great time for my daughter’s birthday. Noel was wonderful. Thanks
Thank you so much and we are so pleased you spent the special day with us!
Smith & Wollensky never disappoints. The food is always amazing and the service is even better. Theresa is the best customer service person I have ever met at a restaurant. This is my favorite spot in Chicago and i have eaten at all the best restaurants. I can’t wait to go back! And, the cup of bacon!!!!
Thank you so much for the lovely review
Disappointed in lack of gluten free options. Ordered the filet medium plus. It came out rare. By the time mine came back my wife was almost done. Steak was not as tender.
This used to be my favorite place to eat in Chicago 😕
Great food. Try the bacon appy
Thank you for the review!!
The service from Brian was outstanding. The food very good. The only negative was the jerk manager who had just appeared on the scene, apparently to close up. Admittedly we were noisy as a group of 7 but so was everyone else in the place. I was very observant of all the people sitting at the bar in front of us because I knew we were a loud group and not one person turned around to express concern the entire time we were there. The room had emptied out and we were paying our bill when “Mr Officious” came over (2x!) within 5 minutes to tell us we would be asked to leave if we couldn’t quiet down....he was very impolite, unapologetic and frankly rude, as the only person who could be bothered by us at this hour was him. This man was already suffering a bad day by the time he encountered us. As we left I told him that I felt he was a bit over the top and he glowered at me and all puffy and red faced basically told me to “shove it”....Fortunately Chicago has a lot of steak places as we won’t be back to Smith & Wollensky again.
Very disappointing. We were there for a birthday. I ordered my 10 oz. filet with pink center. I specifically asked the waiter if I should order it medium or medium well because a lot of places undercook it. I said I do not want it rare, which is often how it comes out when ordered medium. Then it has to be redone and you’re stuck waiting a half hour for a new steak to be cooked. He said their medium is a true medium with a hot pink center and assured me it would be cooked correctly. My son also ordered a 10 oz. filet medium, but with peppercorn sauce.
The steaks came and my son’s was medium while mine was totally rare. The waiter upon seeing it said that’s rare and apologized and took it away. I declined to get another steak because I would then be eating after my kids already finished. This is not the first time I’ve had this issue at Smith and Wollenski. I will not be returning.
Service was less than top notch for a restaurant known like this - had to wait an additional 30 minutes despite reservations made. Our server kept on saying he will bring the bread but we had to eventually ask for it. Food was so-so.
Server needed to shower
Terrible body odor
Great service. Manager on hand checking on tables and had no problem returning overcooked steak to kitchen. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and gracious.
Thank you so much for the lovely review. I will share your kind words with Igor, your server
