Smith & Wollensky - New York
Although Smith & Wollensky has earned its reputation as the quintessential steakhouse, the menu is varied and offers many options beyond the signature exemplary steaks. Guests can also select from a variety of market-fresh seafood, poultry, and lamb. Delicious side dishes complete the meal, such as creamed spinach, hashed browns, and seasonal vegetables. The irresistible dessert selection ends the meal on a memorable note with a variety of decadent, housemade cakes, sorbets, and ice creams.

Excellent food and service. I love this restaurant.
We enjoyed our evening from the moment we walked in and were greeted with smiles. Mario our waiter was fun, engaging and quite an experience. Our steak was cooked to perfection and every bite delicious paired with a properly made martini. Quintessential NYC at its best!
Classic NYC steak house. Expect to pay high NYC price but it is quality fare. Prime rib was done right and wait staff did not rush us.
The bill came so fast, we have not already finished our wine.
Great place to visit. The food, atmosphere and service was exceptional!
Food was excellent. The Steak was just perfect. Service was really kind and helpful.
Awesome food and a classic NY steakhouse experience
Great Dinner!!!! Will definitely go again and the Crab Cake was FAVORITE....
Go there for steak, nothing else.
My son and I went for restaurant week and Smith and Wollensky's never disappoints! Our steaks were cooked perfectly. Our waiter Luie service was spot on. He was attentive without being overbearing. We were not rushed and had a very enjoyable meal.
Excellent food!! Drinks are well made. Our server was very attentive.
Went with my grandson for restaurant week so it was a great value and enjoyed the whole experience.
The Classic New York Steak House experience. An Institution. Busy yet professionally greeted, escorted, seated and revived by our fantastic server, Nick. Great cocktails. Smashing wine list. Great menu. Surf n Turf was superior. Dessert terrific. Just everything I was hoping it would be.
The place is a bit pricey, however worth every penny! Food and service was outstanding , we were lucky to catch the Restaurant Week menu. Their fillet Mignon is to die for! Warmly recommend!
Service amazing. Food delicious but unfortunate that people do not know how to behave in public anymore.
Very nice experience in an authentic New York steakhouse. Waiters in white jackets, great atmosphere with delicious food
Great as usual
Returned to Smith & Wollensky with a different dining partner. The first time, we both had the calamari, but it was not up to the restaurant's fine standards- very small, slightly overcooked (too chewy) and no lemon available. The second time both my dining partner and I ordered the calamari. This time it was absolute perfection!! Large, sweet, succulent and perfectly cooked with a piece of lemon accompanying the dish. It was heaven. Our steaks were cooked exactly to our order, and is the reason I go to Smith & Wollensky as frequently as I can. It is the best steakhouse in NYC. It is a steakhouse dining experience found nowhere else.
Dry-aged Sirloin- good, service and ambiance- poor!
Very rude staff, unattended service
First time at Smith and Wollensky, my group and I were excited to try it. Very disappointing experience at this restaurant, despite having a good name. The food did not have the right temperature, steaks were overcooked, lobster was raw, soup was cold. Service was slow and not friendly. It’s a shame.
We went during NY restaurant week! Food was great, it was quite a lot! :) We were full, so couldn't eal then all. Everything was nice!
Incredible experience. Everything was great. Server was very nice and the host was fantastic. Top notch once again. Thank you for a great birthday dinner.
The cosmos were perfect. Service was a little slow - but the food was delicious and when we did receive service, the waiters were very courteous and accommodating. It was our anniversary and despite the bill being way more than we anticipated, it was an enjoyable dinner and quality time with the kids. The surf and turf was delicious and ended up taking half of my filet mignon home.
Breakfast was steak and hash browns and it was almost better than the night before. Would definitely recommend to others and would absolutely go back for another meal.
Best steakhouse in New York. My cut is the prime rib with a half bottle of Quintessa. I get it Everytime. The staff treats you like royalty. Thanks!
Service left something to be desired :(
Amazing night in Smith and Wollensky! Food was beautiful. Atmosphere was great and the service was second to none.
Great food and service. We were a pair of 50 year olds, so we managed, but older people will have problem with the lightning, it was super gloomy/dark...
Upon arrival with reservations, we were seated right away. We were greeted by our server who wishes us a happy anniversary with glasses of champagne. Pleasant surprise. Service was always non-intrusive and attentive. Food was great for a steakhouse. Would go again.
Great service ; with both attentiveness and personality. Ambiance: delightful character and history, only detractors were a bit crowded and noisy (our table was close to a loud group). Food: steaks mostly good though one tasted a day old; salads and desserts very good, roast beef hash a bit disappointing. Overall a fun place, would recommend for a celebratory dinner.
Filet was too dry. Service was mediocre.
Poor ambiance, freezing air conditioning units and just about warm food. Not at all like Vegas and Chicago, which are excellent
Taste was good, but disappointed for cold steak...
Fabulous food but very rude service. When my friend and I asked the waiter for separate checks his immediate response was why, they'll be the same. Huh?? We had not even looked at the menu. He finally agreed to separate checks. A while later when I saw him writing everything on one check I asked again if we could have separate checks. He said in the most nasty tone "you already told me that". After placing our order I innocently asked if he would be bringing bread and butter. He lashed out at me that I needed to be patient. I was merely asking a question. I could go on and on with his very nasty cutting responses. It ruined what could've been a fabulous meal because the food was terrific. I had the mixed green salad, the surf and turf, and the pecan pie for dessert. I was there Friday evening, 8/8/19, at 6:30 PM and sat upstairs. Hopefully somebody can speak to the waiter who served us. He was extremely nasty and rude. He should not be working with the public, in my opinion.
Best steak in NYC. Expensive but worth it. Service was terrific. A
Dinner was wonderful, our waiter was okay but those that filled in were fabulous
Always a good choice for red meat fans, although certainly not inexpensive.
The food was exceptional.
However, I wish I could give zero stars for service. Having asked for drinks 3 times they finally arrived. The waiter’s excuse was that he had to see to a very famous actor who was having a grumpy night, therefore our party played second fiddle!!
Only the man in our party was spoken to to the point that he had to order for the three of us. Females and children are expected to be seen and not heard.
This is not an environment where you should go out for a family treat, only somewhere to visit if you are a bunch of male colleagues on a misogynistic night out.
