Incredible Steak, Great sides and a old school cool to this steakhouse make it a must for any steak aficionado.
Old world NYC steakhouse. Consistency, consistency, consistency. Got exactly what we expected. A great porterhouse for 2, cooked to perfection. ...Truth be said though... we'd been just as happy at Old Homestead or around the corner at Palm/Palm Too. Great... yes. special... hardly.
The best steaks of New York and the best service. Congratulatios
Excellent food. We had the filet mignon for two. The portion was a little small, but the flavor was outstanding. We found that the service was a little slow. At times we were left alone for a half hour or more with no communication or eye contact from the waiter.
Surprisingly child-friendly, great food, great service
We dined here to celebrate our son's 26th birthday. The meal for the four of us was quite expensive (but on par with other steakhouses and justifiably so, and also not unexpected), but worth every penny. The steaks, sides, appetizer, desserts, and service were better than we have had at other steakhouses in a similar price range (for example, Peter Luger). So, too, was the atmosphere. Definitely a memorable experience--in a good way!
Excellent food, service, and ambience
The steaks were perfect and worth the price. Smith & Wolensky NYC is bucket list restaurant.
The best steak I've ever had. We ordered two different cuts of prime rib and both were amazing. The service was the best I've had in New York with really wonderful waiters who really treated us like family. It was our 6th time there and will go back again and again. A must while in New York!
I am grateful we got a table. The food was very good but the service was rushed. At $65 per steak I would expect something more personal
Very good taste
After visiting this restaurant for over 40 years, I was very disappointed in this past week's meal. The sirloin steak was hard to cut, the meat not well marbled. Even the signature S&W knife had trouble piercing the meat. The Pecan Pie dessert was flavorless. And the bread assortment was more limited than I ever remember. I travel to NYC once a year on business and my S&W business lunch is usually a highlight. Not this trip.
Cadre sympa mais très très bruyant. Viande délicieuse, justement cuite et accompagnements bien cuisinés.
Prix légèrement excessifs.
Terrible service, no waiter around to take our order and it took them a while to bring our food. Also when leaving we approached the manager who was pretty rude and not able to accept our complaint.
Another great meal at S & W!
Chaotic front of house experience. Too busy trying to sort their own bookings out than to serve waiting customers. Didn’t leave for a very good first impression
This was truly one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. From the moment we got there until the time we left, the service and food were incredible. Our table was not ready at the time of the reservation, but they made up for it. They definitely know what customer service is all about.
Semplicemente fantastico. Carne buonissima. Servizio cortese. Rapporto qualità prezzo per essere a NYC molto buona per un posto del genere
Definitely got the feeling of being ‘rushed’. No sooner had our cocktail come, the salad was there. The wine glasses were removed before being asked if I wanted wine. By the time I got the wine list, our main course had been served. Turnover of the table seemed to be top priority!
Fabulous as always, never been disappointed eating here.
Our waiter, Frank, really made it a special evening for us.
While they do not have Southern Comfort available, the waiter went very far out of his way to find me an acceptable substitute. I appreciated the lengths he went to so I would be happy.
First time in the city for my daughter and her friend, took them for dinner and they loved it. Everyone made the experience special for them. The food was outstanding, but I truly appreciate the way the crew made the evening special for my daughter.
This is by far the best damn steakhouse in NY.
Service and food are spectacular
Very good steak. Serve de very good. Pricey but a good treat
Excellent for entertaining a client. Best steak around.
We went here for my wife's 50th birthday meal when we were in New York and absolutely loved it . The steaks were amazing, best ever, the waiters we had were real New York characters and when we were finished our meal they sang happy birthday to my wife and gave her a piece of cheesecake with a candle in it, which was delicious. Only problem was we didn't have time to go back again.
Fantastic steaks and great atmosphere
For the prices you pay here the food should be outstanding. Halibut was overcooked and steak was average. Calamari had a deep fried heaviness to it. Again, not what you would expect for the price.
The food was good but the menu was different that the one they post in their web site.
We were in New York for a week and searched every day for a suitable steak venue.
We were not disappointed with our choice of Smith & Wollensky Restaurant. It was well worth waiting for.
Our steaks were cooked to perfection.
I would score this restaurant as 4 out 5. Where the food and drinks were amazing. Well worth the visit.
The restaurant was a little cramped, noisy and the service was slow.
Food was beyond superb. Anthony, our waiter was exceptional - efficient, great dry humor, attentive. Dining area was full but you never felt as though you were sitting on top of each other. Well organized.
Truly awesome--great food and service! Everything was perfect!
Great drinks. Great service. Ordered two NY. strips on bone and they were awful. Totally fatty.
Delicious steaks, as you would expect. Most impressed by the sides. They were spot on and made the meal.
Great place wonderful atmosphere and delicious food
This has become a bad restaurant.
The waiters operate as if sleep walking. The room is stale and outdated. The steak just isn't good enough. The rest of the menu is as plain as can be: perfect for the 13 year old child celebrating his birthday, but nothing an adult would go out of their way for.
The bottom line is that you can get onion rings and an ok steak at a diner and the service will be about the same.
Also, why would anyone want to eat with a bunch of tourists watching tv on their cellphones in a room that looks like it hasn't been cleaned up since the 1970's?
New York is filled with excellent steak houses this is no longer one of them.
It’s good not great and very expensive I would recommend to older people possibly for business
Ordered ‘Filet Mignon medium rare’ but the steak I got was very much ‘well done’. Quite disappointing for $57 and a steakhouse with such a tradition. Also, the restaurant manager was not very pleasant.
The sirloin is very delicious.
