The tastefully appointed second floor of the quintessential steakhouse makes a festive setting for private events of all sizes. The sky lit rooms can be utilized separately for more intimate events or combined to create an expansive space for 130 guests seated.View Private Dining Details
The presentation was really good. The resturant was amazing. The steaks were perfect and the service was great. The waiters were always attentive and were really good at serving our food, answering any question we had, setting our table, and fixing any problems we had. Top-notch service. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. The best steak I ever had! The fries and loaded baked potatoes were also really good. The desert was an awesome finishing touch. I would definitely come back here again! The best service I ever expierienced in a resturant and definitely some of the best food in this city. Very nicely kept steakhouse too, and stunning atmosphere. It was really authentic and made me feel very comfortable as well as amazed. Can’t wait to go back!
I ordered the filet mignon au poivre. The pepper completely overpowered what little flavor the meat itself had (in the end I had to cut off the pepper crust). There was a steak sauce on the plate and that helped a little- although at this price point I would expect the meat to stand on its own. The service and ambiance was good but with so many options for steak in NYC I wouldn’t recommend this place.
Excellent porterhouse for two!
Very good steaks and friendly staff! Looking forward to my next visit.
Very enjoyable evening, celebrating my 50th birthday! Good food and excellent service!
Excellent food. Large portions.
Traditionelles, sehr gutes Steakrestaurant mit sehr schönem Ambiente und freundlichem, lockeren Service.
Ein Lokal zum Wohlfühlen.
Steaks von ausgezeichneter Qulität.
Food was good, we had a very cranky old waiter, that we could not understand when he was speaking and he would not even try to speak clearly for us and we speak english! At the end of our dinner we did have a very nice waiter for our desert and he was great.
The food was excellent. I was visiting from New Orleans and I enjoy good food. This was excellent I would recommend this restaurant. I will definitely make a return visit next time I am in New York.
Thanks a lot
Worst experience ever. Horrible service, mediocre food, and a psychotic manager, Michael, who screamed at my entire family when we asked him where our food was. He told us we were trouble and he wasn’t interested in our complaints. I have never been spoken to like that in my life, especially from someone in “hospitality”. It took 3 hours, without dessert, I had to get up 6 times to beg for water, our cocktails, and the check.
Never again, stay away!
40 min wait after appetizers for main meal. Some refills on drinks would have been nice.
Food was really great! However, the service was slow and had to request to send our server to our table several times during the dinner. Table cloth was stained and had bread crumbs all over the table when we were seated. Ordered coffee with our dessert but never got it. Disappointed!
Food was outstanding!!! Service was wonderful!!!! Our new "go to" restaurant in NYC!!!
They want to call it tourist trap, but it isn’t. It’s a full fetched steakhouse with the best cuts with stable longstanding quality. The service is great and the desserts to die for. It’s a must when in Manhattan.
The steak was excellent but the portions were too large for me and my friend. Definitely for the hungry. Great potato and the services was very attentive. Its a NYC landmark so would recommend to people who have never visited the City before but just be very hungry.
Great food and our server Rafael was incredible with his service and recommendations!
Great food and excellent service. Will return when next in NYC
Steaks were no flavorful, especially for the price. However, service was excellent and attentive. I do appreciate Maura taken to comp side orders and dessert to make us happy. Not what I expected of this stories restaurant but I will give them another chance!
If you're looking for the best steak house in New York City, look no farther than this! From the softshell crab appetizer to the perfectly prepared steak and delightful mousse, this was a meal to remember.
ALL AROUND FANTASTIC!
Superb meal (steak with sides of spinach and roasted mushrooms) with S&W proprietary red blend (an excellent Bordeaux type wine at a very reasonable price) followed by a "very large" and delicious carrot cake with a celebratory Armagnac.
My sons Birthday
Wonderful meal, great service. It was my birthday dinner and I was even given a birthday drink on the house and my kids were allowed to bring in a small birthday cake.
Food was delicious. We had porterhouse for 2, which easily fed 3. The halibut was prepared simply and was very tasty. Wonderful service. A great night out with family.
My wife’s birthday. First time here and it was great
The food and service live up to the reputation that it has continued to maintain
Amazing steaks and wine list! I had the coconut cake for dessert and it was amazing! I would go back for more soon! The wine list is amazing too! The best in town and great atmosphere! Everyone is so polite and friendly there! Ten stars all the way! A hidden gem in NYC.
Delicious but pricey and loud.
Steaks were amazing!!
Of all the great steakhouses in New York Smith & Wollensky is my favorite. The food, particularly the steak, is excellent. The service is terrific. The wine list is a joy to behold. This restaurant is one of the handful of reasons for me to go to NYC a couple of times a year.
The food is perfect . Very loud But we will come again
Our parents booked the table and asked for us to be looked after as we had got married in NYC that morning. Had a wonderful meal and were given free cheesecake.
Great food and ambience!
Palm Sunday. But on this, or any other occasion, always great.
Food was good. Steak was over cooked. Service was not good at all. Waiter brought the check and never offered us dessert.
Overpriced steakhouse and served up sub-par food. Steak beyond rare, salmon was overcooked and burnt on the bottom, and the sides were just bland and disappointing. Only good thing about the experience was the waiter who provided great service.
Inattentive wait staff - checked the boxes of checking in with us - but immediately as food was delivered. Medium rare porter house was charred and well done on one end and medium rare on other. Medium rare Colorado rib was medium well. Excellent onion rings and coconut cake. Water glasses were empty for 30 minutes before anyone came by. Extremely difficult to flag anyone down, even to pay our bill
Sauce, perhaps a lemon butter with capers for the Dover Sole. Great dish.
My wife wanted to experience a quintessential NYC steakhouse. None better than Smith & Wollensky. The food is good (order meat- steak). The sides are fine and a necessary accompaniment to the main course- something to break up the generous amount of meat which comes at you. Portions are large and can/should be shared. The service is good and the ambiance has an older school flavor to it. It is definitely an experience. But you pay for it. It is expensive. My wife enjoyed it, so mission accomplished, however it will probably not maker our weekly rotation.
